The Commoner Consort: The Country's Respected Empress

Xavier coughs hearing her words and senses something wrong with her voice. He asks suspiciously "Are you sad, My lady? Did something happen? Are you worried about something?".

'Why is she here? What if she cries if I ask her about that?'.

Maya gets surprised but says "No Sir..".

'How does he find everything?!'.

Xavier twitches his lips "It happens My lady. You should be alone here. You must miss your family -".

Maya looks at the darkness "I always have been a lonely wolf. What's there to-". Miss?.

She stops before completing the sentence and changes the flow of conversation "It's really cold here..".

'If he keeps on asking, I might tell him everything in a trance. Somethings are meant to be hidden. I am ashamed to expose my relationship with The Royal even though it is fake and temporary '.

Xavier asks seriously "What's the matter My lady? I can feel something is bothering you".

Maya recalls about the woman and gets sad "I am just worried about this country's situation. There is draught everywhere-".

Xavier mocks "Really? Don't you need to worry about yourself My lady?".

'Is she trying to impress me? Showing how concerned she is about this new country? How could she even know about our country's situation? However, I like whatever she speaks'..

Maya mocks equally "I can survive anything Sir. I pity these people because they can't!".

Xavier gasps stunned hearing her strong words but speaks curtly "They are fortunate to have The Emperor and The Crown Prince as they put everything at stake for people's safety!-".

Maya chuckles mockingly "You too worship him, don't you Sir?!".

Xavier fails to notice the hate in her words.

Xavier smiles "We love him for what he does for the country and people-".

Maya gets angry and says sarcastically "Indeed...You ought to love for everything he does! Because he is your Crown Prince! It's not your mistake...everyone does that!".

Xavier notices her tone and tilts his head suspiciously "What do you mean?".

Maya wonders casually pretending to be an ignorant "I heard about the war that The Crown Prince is fighting Sir. Does he aware of the draught in the country?".

Xavier gets irked 'How can I not know?!' and says displeased "The draughts can wait My Lady. But leaving the betrayer might lead to great threat to the country's safety in future. It's very necessary for the period. A commoner can't see a big threat behind this small war. But The Royals have to!".

'Ignorant people starts to revolt against us and I needed to end them leaving the investigations of The Countryside Pavilion! If not for them, I would have escorted My Brother's wife personally to The Royal Palace! Such a stupidity! Do they think that they can fight against me and My brother?!'.

She chuckles mockingly "I also heard there was an attack in some Pavilion? Is this want your respected Crown Prince does for the country?".

Maya sighs turning away and mumbles "So irresponsible about his own family's safety and what about the people paying you the taxes shedding their blood in work?!".

Xavier fumes "Enough My Lady! You could be punished for this crime of slaughtering The Royals' image! And you are forbidden to talk about The Crown Prince like that!".

Instead of getting scared, Maya smirks "What if The Royals make a mistake Sir? Do they have anyone to punish them?! Seems They think they are Gods! Who never commits any mistakes!".

Xavier warns "Let's end this here My Lady. This would only lead to your bad. I forgive you because you are a stranger to our country".

Maya stops speaking and mocks in her heart 'Forgive me?! I dare to speak the truth while you don't have the courage to even hear against him! And I will do this crime even if you punish me. Both Maya and Xavier remain silent. A single conversation about The Crown Prince made them to dislike each others thoughts of having a conversation.

Xavier is too displeased to even talk to her. He looks at her shivering in cold and turns away.
