It was a cold night.

In a small alley at the northwest intersection of T City, there was a girl with casual clothes and a peaked cap, leaning against the wall with a lollipop in her mouth. Her hands were snugly tucked inside her trouser pockets as she quietly waited for something.

The bright moonlight shone over her as if she had been coated with a glitter of light, making her look like a cold yet unattainable beauty sitting under the moon.

Of course, all of this was just an act.

At that moment, Sang Jian was actually talking to the system in her mind.

”Do you know that the best time to sleep is at 11 o’clock? If I miss my sleeping time, my body condition will get worse. Don’t you know that? Of course you don’t know! You only care about whether your villain will die or not.”

A mechanical voice suddenly sounded in her mind, “Of course I care about him. Don’t forget that your mission is to let him die naturally. If you don’t rescue him now, it will be regarded as an accidental death, and this mission will fail.”

”Mission failure means nothing to me. It doesn’t have any effect on me, but if I don’t sleep at the appropriate time, my health will get worse.”

  System: “…”

Sang Jian has been bound to this system for a while. When they first met, both of them were a little cautious with their words and acted sincerely with each other.

Sang Jian never asked the system about its purpose and the system never asked her if she would like to do a task.

It’s been a few months and there was never been an incident.

Until a few days ago, the system finally spoke first and asked her if she would like to help with its tasks.

It just so happened that Sang Jian “simply” wanted to experience the quick-transmigration life, so she agreed.

There was no deal between the two parties, but they just seemed to reach some kind of tacit consensus.

In other words, even if the mission fails, there will be no effect towards Sang Jian at all.

It’s just that she didn’t expect that she would need to work in the middle of the night for her first mission, so she was a little sleepy.

  …

Sang Jian’s mission is to save the villain boss.

As we all know, there is only one ending for a powerful villain boss; to be wiped out by the protagonist.

But very few people know that before a person becomes a villain, there will always be an unknown and sad past.

Sang Jian travelled to this point in time to capture the villain, right before he turned into a villain. She planned to prevent him from turning into a villain, therefore avoiding his fate of being wiped out by the protagonist.

At the same time, making sure that he dies naturally in this small world, not by any kind of accident.

  Quite an easy task.

Although failure will not affect her, she still didn’t allow herself to fail such a simple task.

So even though she didn’t like to work in the middle of the night, she still came anyway.

At the moment, the future villain boss is being hunted down and currently running for his life.

  …

The system also fell into deep thought when it heard Sang Jian reminded it of the lack of consequences towards her if they fail the task.

Since the task will not affect her, can the system do something exciting?

After an unknown amount of time, the system suddenly notified, “The rescue target, Lou Yan, has appeared! He is hiding in the alley in front of us, let’s go to the rescue!”

Sang Jian, who had been leaning against the wall without moving, finally moved.

She bit the lollipop in her mouth, raised her hand and lowered the brim of her hat, then put her hands in her pockets and walked towards the alley ahead.

  …

In the middle of that alley, there were two large trash cans against the wall. The stench of rotting rubbish was overwhelming.

There was also a trace of blood in the pile of rubbish, which could not be smelled unless you carefully searched for the smell.

Of course, normal people would hold their breath when walking by the stinky trash cans.

But Sang Jian is not a normal person.

Although it smelled bad, it didn’t affect her much, she just kept chewing on the lollipop that was broken in her mouth.

The lollipop was lemon flavoured. It tasted sweet and sour, very delicious.

”Behind the trash can, he was stabbed in the abdomen, and now has lost a lot of blood.” The system kindly notified Sang Jian.
