The Apocalyptic Mother And Her Struggles

The sound of helicopter scared the little girl that played in the garden. Suddenly four soldiers jumped out of the roaring vehicle and went into a run towards her.

Her cry was heard by her mother that came out with white hands full of lour. ''What the...''

She saw soldiers not having weapons than gas masks and she quickly jumped to hold her child and made run for the phone.

One od soldier catches up on her. ''Mam, we are here to get your family to safety. Where is the rest of the family, we have to get them all!!!''

Her back became cold when she heard his words. ''They are on the field...''

''Pic just basic things you need and let's run. We don't have much time! We will pick the rest directly from the field. What way is it?''

She stuffed some basic clothes, some chocolates, their identity cards, water bottles and baby milk into big bags and rushed towards the chopper. ''Fast. Show him the way the rest of the family is. We need to rush. Are there any neighbors we can pick on our way?''

She nodded. ''The Johnsons family. there are only two elders and two children the parents are in the city working.''

''They should call the city and let them know. Do you have a mobile? Call them now. Hurry!''

She made a quick call to the Johnsons family and went into the chopper. Soon they arrived over the field where her husband and her father-in-law and her two sons were working.

They saw the helicopter arriving and were quite stunned but when they saw her jumping out of it and waving their hands they knew something was wrong. They all rushed towards her and she just pushed them to enter.

Her husband knew she was not someone who would do something without reason. So he just helped everyone get in and jumped himself into the helicopter.

They couldn't talk from all the noise so he just hugged his sons while his wife held the girl in her hands shaking.

They arrived ta Johnsons that already were waiting for them. The children cried but still entered the chopper and had been on their way to the Aislin country shelter. On their way, they saw a couple of cars driving madly toward them. From inside the two cars jumped each one woman and man and made run towards the helicopter.

The chopper went lower the soldiers opened the door and just pulled the two people inside making the space crampy.

Luckily this kind of military helicopter is made to handle quite a weight so it was not the issue to fly back to their base.

When they arrived they could see the same situation from other helicopters as well.

They rushed to open space opened the door and as soon the people left they went for one more run. After that, they will get again some recharge and then will run again.

They have only 72 hrs before the virus hits their part.

Inside the big hall was everything calmer. Everyone got a drinking solution and waited to pass the disinfection room. On another side, they already got their new clothes and were signed up in their new quarters.

Soon they were sent down with a smile form officer. He told them the current situation and when doors opened and they came out smiling faces were what they could see. A peaceful environment made them calm down and as they saw their apartments and knew that everything is ready for them, they let go of their angst and relaxed.

Family after the family were picked up. Some families decided not to go and were left outside.

Emma knew that things like that could happen so she told them to just go to the next destination.

Two days later most of the villages around them were evacuated.

22 hrs left for the virus to come.

''We cleared the most villages. There is one more settlement of ten families but far away. What should we do?'' Mario stared ta the peaceful settlement of eco-freaks, how he called them.

She sighed. Then she sat down and commanded. ''Find a connection to the settlement.''

Moments later the voice answered. ''There is no connection to settlement. They live completely avoid any kind of outside interference.''

''Mobile phone, television, radio, anything?''

''There is no connection to any of those as they have no electricity.''

Mario started cursing in his heart. Damn eco-freaks!

Emma just furrowed her eyebrows and sent him an icy stare as she could hear his word out loud.

''Can we send projection towards them?''

Moments passed, minutes passed and then after fifteen minutes the answer. ''I changed the 3D picture and enhanced it. It is possible to send a project, but it will be weak and will not last long. You have only one minute.''

Emma sighed. ''I understand.''

She stood up and turned her head towards the people that sat together by evening fire and as it seems sang as she saw a guitar in one of their hands.

She inhaled deeply and ordered.''Projection start.''

Suddenly in front of stunned people, a small projection of a woman appeared and they almost jumped back.

''I have not much time. Please pack fast your bags and rush down as soon as possible. We have a bioweapon alert in the country. I am an Aislin country shelter. You have 12 hrs to reach the next village. There will a helicopter will wait for you. Hurry... now...'' Her projection was about to speak more but it broke off.

The voice sounded in the commanding room. The storm is coming. It seems it will be tight as the virus will spread faster.''

Let's hope they are not dumb, was in Mario's mind while he looked the stunned people talking to each other still.

Suddenly two people rushed inside came out with big backpacks, picked three children in their hands and went for run down the hill.

The rest of the people just shook their heads and continued to sit by the fire and play the guitar.

The people in the commanding room just shook their heads. They gave them a chance, that is the only thing they could do for them.

On the other hand, a small group of people tried to go as fast as possible down the mountain.

Emma struggled as she saw their tries. She stood up and just paced as she stared their slow advance.

Trees, slopes, and different kinds of obstacles slowed them down.

''Anyone has an idea?'' Everyone knew that she was always open to new ideas so they became silent.

Suddenly a shy voice from another side of the room could be heard.

''There is the family that didn't want to leave their farm. We can ask them if they would be willing to pick them up in the car. That would help us with time. And the storm is coming. If the rain catches up them, they won't be able to arrive on time...''

Emma gratefully smiled at a shy girl with big eyes. ''Loraine, thank you. It is a good idea. Let's hope they will help them at least if they don't wish to do anything for themselves.''

''Contact family Fin.'' The command was clear and soon the sound of the phone could be heard ringing.

''Yes?'' A tired voice answered the phone.

''Mr. Fin we are calling from Aislin country.''

''I told you, we are not going.''

''We accept your wish, but at this moment we would like to ask you for help, please.''

''How can I help you, I live so far away...''

''Yes, but do you know that small community on the mountain?''

''Oh them? Yes.''

''There is a family that is trying to get down but the storm is coming so they will have hard time to be on time. I know you have no wish to leave your place, but can you help them. Just until your home. then we will come with a helicopter and pick them up.''

''If the storm is coming, to drive with the helicopter will be hard.''

''We know, but there is only 12 hrs gap that we can save them. They are running already for 3 hrs. Soon the children will lose strength. It will be impossible for them to arrive down on time if this continues.''

''Thank you...'' Emma was really grateful to the pair of old people.

She saw them rushing out the house with as it seems sandwiches, blankets and water bottles.

''Connect to the car.'' Soon after the command was done she spoke. ''Are you ready?''

''Let's go...'' was the answer...
