The Apocalyptic Mother And Her Struggles

Chapter 17 - 17. The closing time is near

Emma Thompson woke up again from her nightmares where she revived everything.

Her head was beaded in sweat and her whole body was soaking wet. The bed looked like she rolled all over the place or had a huge fight with someone.

Her feet touched warm plates and she slowly went into the bathroom to take shower.

A couple of hours ago she realized one thing, she needs to become more dominant or people will take lightly her words.

The slight knock could be heard on the door. ''I am taking shower. Come in baby.''

Aisa saw the bed and sighed. Her mother had those nightmares again?

She slowly took off the covers and put fresh ones as long as Emma was in the bathroom.

When Emma came out and saw new sheets and covers she shook her head. ''Child I would have done that as well.''

''Mom, let me do some things for you as well. Grandpa Angus told me that Amish children help in the household so parents can live normal as well. It's not like I have big duties.''

Emma poked her head with a smile. ''My smart daughter is growing. But still, have your childhood as long as you can. As soon as we close the main gates the school will start as normal as any other time. You will have enough to do with that.''

Aisaa hugged Emma and cuddled in her embrace. ''Mom don't worry. I won't disappoint you. Actually I am a bit smarter than other kids, but I know your heart. I will play with them as long they don't annoy me. I still prefer to learn small crafts from Amish and jump around and play with the first people, I mean origins.''

''Just call them however they are comfortable to be called. But baby you should not bother them too much. OK?''

''I know. I like our place as well. Actually I like more our place than any other. But sometimes I wish to play with children. Thank you for letting other people in as well.'' Even tho she hated most children, she was after all human as well. Playing with other children occasionally was a fine thing to kill boring times.

Emma put this time serious suit and went out. Aisa followed her this time. She held her hand and had a slight smile but before the door opened the smile vanished and cold expression appeared on her face.

Mario truly regretted it. Because of his negligence, she changed so much. From cute little woman, she changed into a soaring dragon and was now even more unreachable as before.

She just passed him and his heart winced in pain but nothing was shown on his face.

''Did you succeed in your task?'' She walked to the main gate as she saw a bunch of busses arriving and a long line of huge trucks.

''Yes mam. They are here already. Here is the report.'' He gave her file and she swept through it and nodded.

''Good job. Who else is missing to enter? Did you get any news about the origin tribe elders?'

''They are on their way as well. Mam, I think there will be so many coming...''

''Those that want to live in the city can get apartments like others. Those that want to live on the seventh floor will be separately sent there. Even if they all live on the same space I can handle.''

Mario nodded. Space per level is huge. Just this place would need days to walk from side to the other.

''Will they are able to arrive on time?'' She said while she saw some people descending the busses.

''Yes.'' Mario stood slightly behind her and looked like her own bodyguard.

The female soldiers saw his stance and giggled but earned cold stare from him so they scrambled to help others unloading the stuff from the trucks.

''Luckily now we are left with the division of good people. I hope they will stay this way and not turn into something I would hate to see.

''I will keep my eyes now on them and give heavy punishments to those that dance out the line.''

She understood his intention to prove himself, but she didn't need him to turn into a monster so she just sighed.

''I killed those people because they were perverts. I can't have such people around here. But for minor dancing out the line, you can just give small punishments AFTER consideration why they did that. Please...use word why!!!''

He was stunned seeing her annoyed. ''What did I do this time. I really don't understand... All I did...''

''You are OVERDOING it. Your job soon will be the most stressful one. Please do everyone favor and freaking relax dude. And ask questions before acting up. I need every human life in this place to survive and you are someone who will need to be collected the most as you do what I order you. I ant have people that are undecided in their heart.''

He gasped and realized finally. Shut up and do what you are told, then everyone will be happy.

he saluted and smiled brightly stunning not only everyone in the room, but even Emma's heart also thumped harder for a moment.

She turned her head and stared at families incoming. ''Just a bit longer and finally, we will be free to sleep a bit longer.''

She murmured and he almost started laughing but choose not to. It was hard to keep his face straight after that sentence so he turned to the office to get more reports while covering his laugh with coughs.

While after people were sent to their own accommodations first origins started incoming.

Different tribes and different ways of life. Some choose to be on their land and live freely but most choose the comfort of a house or apartment. Luckily she had enough space even for ten times the amount of people. So they could choose the living where ever they wanted.

Like Mario said thousands started incoming.

In the end, when even the last bus arrived all together over three thousand origins were on the list.

Emma finally smiled and looked at Mario's furrowed eyebrows. ''Speak.''

''I sent two people with helicopters to get their family members couple days ago, but they still are not here. I... '' He actually wanted to ask her to wait just a bit longer.

''How much time until closure is left?''

''3hrs and 54 minutes.''

''Where are they now?'' She needed the location so she can calculate the time they would need.

''they could arrive on time, or be late for few more minutes.''

''Did you read the manual?'' She looked at him straightforwardly and saw him nodding.

''Before we close the main gate first the walls will be erected. That will take another two hours of buffer time. I will keep the gate open those two more hours. After that no matter who is on the door, I will close it and not let in. Understood?''

What could he do and accept? Indeed she didn't have to leave the gates open but for his sake, she will use the buffer period.

Suddenly from far five or six buses and few cars were driving towards their direction at high speed.

''Everyone on arms!!!'' He yelled and took his gun out his holster pointing it at the direction of the incoming vehicles.

''Aisa, go!'' She looked ta the three female soldiers that nodded to her and took Aisa between them as they rushed towards the escalator.

She opened her bag and slowly took out the newest produced gas and anti-virus mask and waved her hand.

Everyone took their masks and put them on without questioning her actions.

She took the other gun from his holster and took a stance as well as the busses stopped and a bunch of people started gushing out there.

''Stop right there or we will shoot!!!'' Mario yelled through a megaphone.

The people froze and looked at each other.

One bolder man came a bit forward and was almost shot as the warning hit went in front of his feet.

He started yelling. ''Arent you bit unreasonable. We have right...''

Mario chuckled as he shot one more time toward the man's feet.

''This doesn't belong to the country you just came from. This is the private property of Aislin Country and we can kill anyone who oversteps its borders without our permission. So. Go back.''

He wanted to say something but a young woman just kicked his but ( literally ) and went a bit forward.

''Sorry we came in such a hurry. Miss Thompson, I am Helen Stavros and most people here are our family members. The rest is his assistant's families. My father and his assistants are trying to bring my grandmother as soon as they can as she needs medical care. So they will come later with the emergency car.''

Emma recognized the girl from dr.Stavros pictures. She nodded so they could enter. But this time she asked for a yellow alert. That means they could take only what they had on them until the screening room and then they would get new clothes.

Some clamored about the food and cloth they left but nothing softened her heart.

''These things will be given to you after disinfection. Please do not be troublesome or you will be kicked out without the ability to enter ever again.''

They shut up after hearing those words. After all, they will get their stuff back after disinfection.

Emma stopped Helen. ''Dear where is he now?''

''Some hundred fifty miles away. How much time until lockdown.'' She looked at the clock that countdown and her head became beaded with sweat.

Emma looked at Mario. ''Do we have more helicopters''

He nodded. They had ten helicopters but only two are outside.

''Send someone to pick them up its faster with a helicopter. Go!!!''

Mario nodded and was about to jump in one helicopter that stood outside when he heard her calling.

''Where the hell are you thinking on going?'' She stared at him through the mask angrily.

''I am actually the best pilot here. Call them so they are ready.'' He started the helicopter and then he felt hit on his arm.

''Idiot. Put the mask on and take the rest of the masks for them as well. And don't take any dangerous actions. Just pick them up and come straight back. Understood?!!''

He smiled as he put again his mask on and just smiled at her before taking off.

Her hair swirled in the wind as he flew up, but her stance was straight ramrod still. ''So strong even by such small frame, amazing.''

Suddenly he heard her voice over the headset. ''I am amazing and your duty is to keep this amazing woman safe. Don't piss me off. I am stressed enough even without your stubbornness.''

He smiled but answered with a deep and s.e.xy voice. ''Yes, maaam.''

She literally cringed and took her headset off. ''Ugh, that man is giving me goosebumps. Was it a wise idea to keep him here? ... UGHHHHH.''

He could still hear her even tho the headset was not close to her.

A smile spread his face as he speeds up with the helicopter to his destination.
