Surviving Zombies One Day At Time

Chapter 81 - 81. Going down the river

Jenny had no idea that many things started moving in the capital. Including zombies.

The President didn't explain the political side of his trouble and called her for more important cause. "They are becoming stronger. It is getting harder to kill them."

Jenny furrowed her eyebrows as she spoke with him. She stared at the river that became dangerous after heavy rain. "We are already going down the river. But because the flood, the power of river became strong. This is positive as we will arrive faster. Negative side is, the creatures in water became stronger as well. Don't let your people go near water. I'll be there by morning."

They already traveled few days and actually needed two weeks town the river, but suddenly heavy rain fell for days, turning this river into roaring monster that crushed everything on its way down.

The positive side of the new expansion was that it can travel in water. Negative part is that water is filled with evolved creatures. she shook her head as she saw huge fish trying to bite into them.

Luckily they had shield, so the fish could only try few times and give up. the huge bubble made them practically travel smoothly on top of furious water filled with dangers.

"Mom, we just saw a crab of a size of small car, passing by." Jacob rushed inside with big smile.

Kids were bored and realized that lower part of the shield was see trough and they could walk on it without trouble. So their new game was to see things that they pass.

As they were fast, it was not easy to see anything in the muddy water by this speed. So it was fun thing to do.

Jenny smiled at him. "Did you catch it?"

Everyone was stunned. "Catch?"

With a gasp Latisha hit her head. "Wait, if we use our weapons we won't fall into the water?"

Jenny chuckled. "As you all now wear the uniform constantly, I connected myself to it and you can literally plunge your hands into water, without even getting wet as the shield will follow you. But you can't walk out of the shield as I reinforced it. To many powerful creatures started appearing, let's not take chances. Kids, use your powers while you have chance. Don't kill creatures, just random fallen trees and stones. As we are fast you have to concentrate more. It is good training for you."

Everyone gasped and she glanced at the grown up group of young people staring at her with big eyes. She chuckled and rolled her eyes. "Kids go to one side and you to the other side. Cleaning the mess in river is not bad idea. Kill zombies if you see them floating by. The more we get rid off, the easier life will be for everyone."

Jenny was in the upper deck and sitting in chair next to the front window. By using her shield power she actually just made the best she gould not to get off the river that already swapped over the fields and forests they passed.

As long she can use water to continue her way to capital, there will be less trouble. The problem is, she didn't sleep for days. If there was no flood, she would just go and sleep.

But this situation right now is not good.

Meira opened her eyes and came up. She saw dark shadows under her eyes and pressed her lips. "Why are you doing this to yourself?"

Jenny glanced at her fora moment and then pointed at the water that literally filled over the benches. "Number one: it would be pain in bottom to get out again. Number two: the faster we get there, the faster I can you back to sleep. I'll just make that shield and sleep for a long time. You all just need to help me get rid of unneeded trouble. And number tree: I think by controlling power of my shield, my powers are rising as well. Don't worry, I drank one of those special potions my system sells, so I'll be fine. By the way, by morning your potion will be finished as well."

A small squeak left Meira's lips and she tightly hugged her. "Done? Really? Finally!"

Malek just woke up and chuckled. "Mother, I never saw you this happy."

Meira straightened her back and pursed her lips. "Tsk! What do you know?! I was this happy when you were born, but this time it's bit different. I somehow have feeling we have new, strange and amazing future ahead. I'll hold onto Jenny tightly and not let go."

"What about the promise you gave our queen?" Malek asked seriously.

Her face became serious and her smile became vicious. "If someone really dears yo touch our queen or kill her. I swear everyone connected to it will dissapear in dust. They all know how dangerous I can be when I'm angry. They better not provoke my fury."

As Jenny had no idea what was happening, she just let them talk and listened. Her eyes became determined. Meira was her friend and she plans to help her with anything she wants.

"Count me in."

That short sentence was enough to make both of them stunned and suddenly Meira jumped and hugged her tightly. "My cutie!!!"

He gould only chuckle and go out while others stared at him in wonder. The door was wide open and they could hear Meira squealing. He just waved his head. "My mother is again bothering her. If I was not completely sure about her preference, I would think she is... Never mind. Can I join?"

They already knew Meira's strange actions so they just shrruged. Jenny didn't care, why should they.

Alex came forward and shook his head. "Wait bit longer until you don't get the uniform. We can do this only because she conected her powers to the uniforms so we are safe. But if you put your hands out, it might pull you out. Trust me."

Malek knew that Jenny had enough trouble by trying to control this thing not to sway of the path, if he suddenly get pulled out, it will be really too troublesome.

"Don't worry, I understand. Jenny just told us the potion will be done tomorrow. I'll just sleep until then. Have fun." He stretched and went back inside. For a vampire sleep was crucial time.

Somehow he knew he needs to save his powers for next day.

And he was right...
