Surviving Zombies One Day At Time

The woman saw Jenny that calmly approached her with scrunched eyebrows. ''You are strange. It seems not even my daughter's power can do anything to you.''

Jenny shrugged. ''It's just defensive power. How many people are you? We have thousands of children and the schools are working again. But different kind of schools, but better than letting children do hard work. Right? If you want to join us let us know. We will pick up some stuff and will roll back. By the way... Those idiots... worms... They plan to nuke a few cities. Luckily our city has a protective shield so nothing can happen to us. But if you don't find a way to protect yourself this place will be dangerous for you and your child. But in the end, it's your choice. We just offer you.''

She waved her hand and was about to climb up when she heard the woman behind her. ''We are many. there is something like shelter and then there are many hidden in the underground channels. It Will take us time to gather everyone.''

Jenny shook her head. ''24h and they will attack. We are leaving tomorrow afternoon. Your choice will you come or stay. I can send a few drones to parts of town where they might hide. tell these two men about it. Is your child with you now? There are busses behind, you can go on and travel with us.''

She waved her hand and Mike and Mina came closer with the jeep. ''Mike it seems we have many survivors here. I need you to organise as many busses, cars, trucks for their rescue. Of course, only those that want to be saved. Do not lose your time in argument if they don't wanna.''

Mike nodded while Mina already started giving orders over the radio.

Looking at them how organized they are the woman sighed deeply. ''Is it possible to get part of the town only for our people?''

Mike rose his eyebrows and shook his head. ''We do have enough space, but that town is ours. We are giving you the right to live with us. But if you think you want to be independent, stay here. I am not begging anyone. We have no time for this shit. Jenny go back, Mina go with her. I'll organise search parties. We brought drones as well.''

Jenny nodded and grabbed Mina's hand while Mina just snorted a woman. ''Giving you piece of city as your own. It is not a democracy. The is are only two choices. You live the way others live in our city or you live here. No third option.''

Suddenly a loud bang could be heard in mid of the trail and Jenny just rolled her eyes. ''Your friends?''

She looked at her with pale completion and shook her head. ''I will come with my children. Those people are making a mess in the city. Some kind of gang. They are taking many things from simple people and they kidnapped many children. I fear...''

Mina sighed, as it seems the woman just wanted to protect children so she smiled at her and pointed data the yellow busses. ''Don't worry. Our trail has a shield. Nothing can harm our people. You pick up kids and go to the school bus.''

Jenny turned her head as well. ''Hurry. We are about to move again.'' Another bang was heard and then silence. She knew that her people just shot back and hit attackers.

She climbed up with Mina into the Monster and they started clearing the way as they got directions from the person who knew these streets bit better.

Soon they stood in front of a huge store that had broken windows. Jenny sighed and announced. ''We will move straight to the storage area. We need mostly solar panels and house appliances. Take food if you want to but I think it's better to go to the storage areas of big concerns and gather food from there. Anyone found electric cars or solar cars?''

''Miss, I found a map. There are multiple car sellers in near. maybe we can check there?'' A voice could be heard from the radio.

''Good. Lets clear this place and then let's go there. Any gas station nearby?'' That was as important as everything else.

''Ther are multiple in surroundings. You stay with Mina and girls here and I will go and check gasoline. I think I saw a few gas tankers nearby as well. We will take those as well.'' Mike could be heard from the other side.

''Mike, remember premises. Only one mile.'' She can spread shield only a mile in surroundings so he had to think about staying in that safety circle.

''I understand.''

Jenny went inside the big store and saw a huge mess and almost empty shelves. ''Find storage area. If its empty let's just gather few things and go on.''

Suddenly one man jumped out one door and started rushing towards her. ''We have survivors in the storage area. They don't want to open the door.''

Jenny sighed and walked slowly towards the back of the store. She saw huge metal door and nodded. In the best case, this could hold a fist wave of zombies, but as they evolve, this won't be much help. ''Uhm. Hi. My name is Jenny. We belong to the next town. There is protection while over there and many people saved. You can come with us if you want. It's the only safe zone. We plan to plant our own food so we will have food even in future. How long can you survive inside? By the way, there is another problem. the so-called government is planing dropping a nuke on this city to kill the huge zombie tide that is heading this way. That is one of reasons why we are in the town one last time. After we leave it is on your own will you be able to live after that or not? We will not be able to save you.''

An older voice could be heard. ''If they drop a nuke on this city your city will be affected as well.''

Jenny sighed. ''Actually, we have a strange shield that protects us from many things. Just like this stuff started happening that shield appeared as well. Now the government is angry because we don't let them inside. To tell you the truth, I fear if we let them in they will make trouble and will live again like before. We already organised jobs and work shifts. We plan to replant the whole area. I truly hope you can trust us and come. But if not we won't push you. We are going out. If you want to come, find us. We will be in the city until tomorrow afternoon.''

She knocked one more time and left. As she went out she waved her hand and everyone again went into their vehicles and followed the huge thing that cleared the street.

As they heard the sound of trucks leaving, the big door opened a bit and a bunch of people left the room. ''Principal, what should we do?''

The old man sighed. ''If they came with so many people to raid the town, it means there must be some truth. Staying in this place is no answer. We need to find a safe place for the future. The children need safety.'' He turned his head and looked at hundreds of children that sat listlessly on floor. ''If there is even a tiny chance for survival...''
