CHAPTER 3: YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO BE THERE (VII)

Part 046

She looked at Adrian, who was smiling brightly at her, and kept her mouth shut for a while, then finally asked.

“What if, what if… Adrian. Really, what if the conductor doesn’t give up the throne and does something terrible? Then what happens?”

“Are you talking about a rebellion?”

The scary words she was trying to avoid came out, and for some reason she felt chills down her spine. She couldn’t answer and just stared at him, so Adrian smiled gently and removed his hand. His long fingers ran across her cheek. It must have been a stiff face. Her back was also very tense.

“Eilene has the ‘Queen’s Star’. As Adrian said, that may not be a big deal, but since it exists anyway, can’t a prince become king without something scary happening?”

“I think it will be possible after the crown prince is dead and all his numerous illegitimate children are dead.”

He had illegitimate children. She was complacent that the crown princess seat was vacant.

“Is the 2nd prince in the lower order than the crown prince’s illegitimate son?”

“There will be controversy, but His Majesty will think so.”

“If the second prince really rebels, then what?”

“If he gets rid of the king, queen and crown prince at once and takes control of the royal family, and if he gets the consent of all the nobles before I recapture the palace, then he can succeed.”

“You think it’s possible?”

“Not at all. Even if you are lucky enough to swallow the palace, there are definitely limits. There is no way that the royal faction nobles will readily agree, and will rather support the capital forces entering the siege. Even if you hold out for a while, you won’t win.”

If you raise a rebellion and kill the crown prince, the 2nd prince and the capital army will be in an all-out war. Yeah, that’s normal. It’s an army that exists to prevent such a situation. He couldn’t just set up a coup d’état and claim to be king. By the way, then what will happen to Eilene?

“All the ringleaders of the failed rebellion will have the same destiny.”

Adrian gave her the answer as if he had read her thoughts. It was a serious and firm face. Decapitation? Was it Eilene? She just followed Dozern because she liked him? No, he’s beheaded for what he did. He was the instigator of the rebellion.

She should not have such scary thoughts.

Adrian stretched out his hand again and brushed her cheek, his face full of concern. She tried exhaling to relax, but it didn’t work.

Adrian’s warm hand patted the back of her hand to soothe it.

“Dozern may be crooked, but he’s not stupid, Damian. He won’t do something he knows will fail.”

“That’s right, right?”

Adrian nodded his head.

‘Okay. It’s just my crazy imagination.’

* * *

As the sun was about to set, they rode in the public carriage, not the Duke’s carriage, to Midoc 3rd Avenue. Festivals took place on all five main streets of Midoc, but Jenny recommended the 3rd Avenue Festival as the most fun. The 1st and 2nd Streets had nothing to enjoy because there were only polite nobles, and the 4th and 5th Streets festivals were mainly frequented by commoners, so it was fun, but it was dangerous late at night, so he told them not to go. She was told to go to the moderately fun and moderately loose 3rd Avenue, but she thought it would be okay with Adrian, so she wanted to go to the 5th Avenue Festival. Then Adrian avoided her gaze and stuttered an explanation.

At the end she was quietly taken to 3rd Avenue. To be honest, it was her first time going there, so she was excited. As soon as we got off the carriage, they took each cotton candy in their hands. She ate it all. She didn’t care, but she really had a sweet mouth. It’s a big deal.

They also watched a parade of colorful costumes and marched on the streets for a while. They said that it was dangerous because there were too many people, so they did not let go of their clasped hands even when they sat on a bench and watched the small candle-lit boats floating on the Lorraine River. Adrian, who was seriously debating whether to go to dinner immediately or add more snacks, stopped him, looked back at him, and sighed.

“Come out.”

Looking back, there were only families and lovers passing by holding each other tightly. Let Adrian keep looking at an alley between the buildings across the street. A large shadow appeared in the dark alleyway.

There was Franz… What? Even Jenny?

Scratching the back of the head, Franz came to the side of the bench where we were sitting and laughed for nothing, and Jenny stabbed Franz in the side while avoiding her eyes.

“What are you two doing here?”

“Such a coincidence! We also came out to see the festival, lady. How can we all drink together here. Hohoho.”

Unbeknownst to Jenny, this was a very obvious lie. That’s when Jenny stabs him in the side one more time. While doing so, Franz laughed ‘haha’.

“As soon as I got off the wagon, they caught up with me.”

As Adrian explained, both Jenny and Franz looked at the sky and averted their gaze. She told them to go back and rest because they would be bored if they followed her to the date with Adrian. Why did Sir Franz come here? Jenny, who said she was tired of festivals, why?

“Did you follow me around? Why?”

Jenny cleared her throat once, regained her respectful lady-in-waiting face, and bowed gracefully to Adrian in reply.

“First greetings, Duke Bigor. This is Lady Damian’s maid Jenny. My lady is very excited, so I begged the knight to follow me out of curiosity. Please forgive my rudeness. I’m sorry, lady. Have a great time. Stop wondering.”

Come to think of it, she went back and forth, but she never properly introduced her. She formally introduced Adrian to Jennie, who was looking at Jenny in silence.

“It’s Adrian Jennie. At that time, you misunderstood it as a dress. She’s an exclusive lady-in-waiting like a real sister to me.”

“I remember.”

Adrian smiled at her and called out to Jenny with a rather serious face.

“Jennie.”

Jennie hung her head and waited for her words to follow.

“It won’t happen again. I promise.”

She didn’t know what she was talking about, but Jennie bowed, bowing her lower back. Franz, who was standing next to Jennie, grinned proudly for some reason, then stabbed her in the side again.

“As you can see, I’m having fun dating, so Jennie, who came out already, came to see the festival. Don’t follow me.”

“Yes, lady, will you be back before it’s too late?”

“I’ll watch the fireworks at night. I’ll go right after watching it.”

“Okay then, see you at the mansion, lady.”

After breaking up with Jennie and Franz, she was so happy that she ate dinner in a small restaurant that was more delicious, and, using the excuse of being hit by people, clung to Adrian’s side to watch the fireworks. It was so simple that it couldn’t be compared to the fireworks launched by the royal family at the New Year’s banquet, but it was enjoyable. The big hand on her shoulder was warm, and it was a wonderful autumn night with people cheering and firecrackers mingling together.

While walking down the street to ride in a public carriage, I saw Jennie and Franz walking arm in arm at a bar. Looking closely, she saw that Jenny was walking out of the bar with Franz’s arm on her shoulder.

“Walk straight a little. You bastard. I mean, I have to go in before the lady comes back!”

As Jenny groaned and shouted, Franz cried and clung to Jenny.

“But miss, our lord… You said it wasn’t my fault. He even put an ugly guy like me in the Knights.”

“Oh! I can’t just throw this away and go, stand up!”

Jenny wrapped around Franz and hit him in the forehead. Screams of unknown origin followed, but they pretended not to see them.

The next day, Jennie’s forehead was red and swollen, but she also pretended not to see it.

* * *

It was an ordinary autumn night when Damian returned from work with Adrian and enjoyed a pleasant leisure time. Jennie reached out to Franz to retrieve the correspondence, which had recently become a matter of course. Normally, Franz would have put what Jenny wanted on his hand with a big puppy-like motion wagging his tail and raising his paws, but today, for some reason, he just stood there with a face full of displeasure.

“Franz, give me the letter.”

Jennie urged, but Franz still looks dissatisfied. He didn’t send me a letter asking for it and said something different.

“Ethan is a scary person when you get to know him. Don’t be fooled, sister.”

Jenny wondered what he was talking about, and she looked up at Franz’s gaunt face.He was a no-nonsense Adrian, who left bruises on Damian’s body. Besides, didn’t he make a promise to himself not too long ago? Adrian, who promised with a serious face to her, who was only a handmaid and not Damian herself, that he would never leave bruises on Damian again, earned a lot of points. So recently, in order to ensure a smooth date between Duke Bigor and Damian, he had more frequent correspondence with the butler of Prince Bigor’s writer.

Not too long ago, he came to me with a letter and met him. He was a young man with a pale blue face and a familiar smell. This guy also rolled quite a bit, She knew the moment she saw him. Franz, who was distracted and stoic, and the butler who shrewdly took care of his master and his lady, as well as Jenny, whose evaluation of the Duke of Vigor was being revised upward day after day. But why was Franz doing this today? As Jenny lifted her eyes and wrote, she mumbled and took out her letter from her bosom and held it out.

[Dear Jenny.

We will secure the handkerchief you mentioned at all costs. The Duke expressed his gratitude. For our next meal, we’re going to prepare a restaurant specializing in Vito’s imperial style dinner. Please let me know if there is any food that you are hiding.

With respect, Ethan]

Hmm. In Vito’s imperial cuisine, there were many dishes that used spices that were hidden by ladies who were not good at spicy food. She turned her back thinking about what to write in the reply, but Franz caught up with her.

“What does Ethan say? Yes? Aren’t the two of you sending and receiving letters too often these days?”

Why was he like this? She handed over the letter because she was curious about the contents of the letter. Franz, who had read the not-so-long text at once, gave it back while scratching the back of his head.

“What? Why?”

“No, it’s not like that.”

“What is that and what is not?”

“That’s it, that’s it, for Ethan. I also adore you, but Ethan keeps sending me letters…”

Jenny, who was looking straight up at Franz, who was puzzled, smiled at some point. It’s pretty cute what she was doing with it.

“Franz”

“Yes, sister!”

“Do you like me?”

“Yes? Yes?”

“Don’t you like me?”

“Joe, I think he likes her. No, he does!”

With her face flushed red, she loudly confesses with an attitude of attention. Jenny clicked her tongue and shook her head.

“What can I do? I already have someone in my heart.”

“Sir, I hope he is not Ethan.” Jenny answered while resolutely looking at Franz, whose eyes filled with astonishment suddenly became moist.

“You are talking like Ethan. Of course she is our cute and lovely lady.”

“Oh…”

“This maid has no time to date because she’s been drinking all day.

Jenny patted the shoulder of Franz, who was crying, and headed to the back garden where the herb field was.

“Today, I’m going to do a hair pack. I’m going to pick lots of rosemary and jasmine.”

Looking blankly at Jenny’s happy back, Franz clenched his fists. He liked Jenny, but all the truths of her was wha she learned about her older brothers. Her first confession, which she pushed in unprepared, was to say that she was going to die. Even his lord didn’t get rejected once. He was always smart and did pretty things whenever he had a chance! Franz, who had clenched her fists and was full of enthusiasm, suddenly sulked.

How do you do pretty things?
