Supernatural Investigation 101: Chronicles Of Nakashima Wakana

Both Sayuri and Natsumi stare at Wakana with expressionless faces.

"I think that I should make use of my abilities," Wakana adds. Her eyes shine brightly. "I liked…" being a part of the supernatural investigation agency, although she nearly died. But she can't reveal that to her sisters. If she can make use of her abilities, she's sure that she can win over her fears. However, what about the ability to harm people with touch? 

"You liked what?" Natsumi raises her eyebrow. Wakana seems different. What could be the reason? Why does her sister want to be a private investigator now? As much as they know, Wakana didn't like being a police officer. Is it because of Minami Sei? Does he know about her abilities? 

"I want to explore my abilities." And secrets that Choi Minho is hiding. She wants the reins of her life in her hands. She should be deciding whether she wants to use her abilities or not. It shouldn't be that man's choice, even if she has to wear gloves for the rest of her life. "I want to know who I am." And what she is. 

Natsumi scrutinizes her face, deep in contemplation. Something has happened to her sister. What could it be? Did it happen in Y City? Minami Sei, Marriage, and exploring abilities… That doesn't sound like Wakana. She must look into it. "If you can live the life of a detective, I am sure that you can also be a private investigator. However, you should look deep into yourself why you want to become one. Don't let outside influences steer you into a direction. Take your time and decide carefully before you take your next step."

"I have thought about it a lot." Wakana leans forward, knitting her brows slightly.  She can't tell about the supernatural investigation agency, but she has no reason to hide what she knows about Choi Minho. It's her family. She has shared a w.o.m.b with both of them. "You are right, Elder Sister. There's a reason why I want to explore my abilities. Recently, I learned that I might have more dangerous abilities than ones that you and I know about. If that ability is activated again, it will be dangerous for everyone who touches me."

"Dangerous ability?" Sayuri yelps. "You can't touch anyone?"

They know that she can see memories when she touches someone. Usually, it stops after the first time. 

Wakana takes a deep breath. The pain that she felt when she harmed Choi Minho…"I had hurt someone." 

He didn't even blink his eyes when she wounded his arm. Is he alright now? Let it be. She won't bother thinking about him. What she needs to know is why he's been beside her. Love is clearly not the only reason. It's more like… he was looking for her.

Her abilities are similar to his brother. If he saw his brother turning into a monster like that, it must have been difficult for him to accept that there was someone else who was just like his brother. He wants to stop her because he doesn't want her to become like his brother. 

But how did he find her? Why does it matter to him that she doesn't become like his brother? And why does he feel guilty toward her?

What kind of life did Choi Minho have? 

Sayuri and Natsumi have never expected to hear that Wakana could ever hurt someone. Her abilities have only caused troubles for herself only. A faint sweet smell lingers in the air. The tea must be ready. Sayuri walks to the kitchen to turn off the gas. In the kitchen, she checks her phone. 15 missed calls from that person. She purses her lips and turns off her phone. Family is more important than that.

"When I touched him, his skin burst and his warm blood splattered on my face." Wakana glances at her hand. The feel of that blood… Was it similar to the moment when she was reliving that Choi Minho's memories? "For a moment, Elder Sister… It was only a passing thought. It disappeared before it could be felt deeply and I don't know if he knows it or not. But I --"

"Don't say it." Natsumi bends her waist, leaning close to Wakana. She flicks her sister's forehead, jolting her awake from the daze. "Our Wakana won't ever like hurting someone. She would hate it."

Wakana rubs her forehead. Her voice is low. "Yeah, I was only surprised." 

"He left." Wakana exhales. The exhausting heaviness in her body is back. "He knew about my abilities. He was the same person who waved me around seven years ago."

Sayuri returns, holding a tray carrying teapot and cups. She puts it on the table and pours tea for her sister, listening to the conversation in silence.

"That person was not a ghost?" Natsumi raises her voice, alarmed. "You met him again?"

"He's the reason why my abilities got suppressed sometimes." Wakana looks at her sister. "If you think about it, my abilities didn't bother me much after that day."

"That's true," Sayuri interjects. "Remember how she used to run away from people? When our neighbour died, she wanted to leave the village."

Someone was suppressing her sister's abilities? Natsumi frowns. Too many things have happened. "Who is that person?"

Wakana tells them everything about Choi Minho except the part about the apartment where she met the phantom rapist, Okuyama Mansion, and everything else related to SIA. She doesn't mention the dream that she remembered later in the train. Also, she skips the parts where Choi Minho assaulted her. Her explanation has a lot of holes. By the time she is finished, she adds with a sigh, "I can't reveal more."

"That stalker!" Sayuri grimaces. "He should make things clear."

"I think the same." Wakana wrinkles her nose, recalling that man's last words to her. "He thinks that he's a god. He can decide my fate? Who gave him the right? If I am not in a state to make a decision, he should talk to my guardian."

"You are right, Wakana." Sayuri hands a cup of black tea with extra sugar to Wakana. "Drink this to prove how much you dislike him."

"Yes!" Wakana sips the saccharine black tea and makes a face. The sweetness of the tea makes her dizzy. "Sayuri, why is it so sweet?"

"I thought that you have low sugar after having all the s.e.x." Sayuri pokes the hickey on her ear. "Drink it up. You need more energy for a newly-wed life."

The tense atmosphere is lightened by Sayuri's words. Wakana's face turns beet red. She refuses to speak more and drinks the tea, torturing herself with extra sweet tea. Seeing that, Sayuri bursts into laughter. "Goodness! Wakana, you are blushing like a new bride -- Oh! You are a new bride without a wedding."

"Sayuri, that's cruel." Wakana pouts. 

"It's not a worry." Sayuri wraps her arms around her shoulders, pulling her into a hug. "This bride will have a wedding soon.

Natsumi watches them, creasing her forehead. Is it possible for Wakana to live a normal life? Who is Choi Minho? However, it doesn't seem like he can take away Wakana's abilities. But what is that man's motive? "Where is that man from?"

Wakana meets her sister's questioning gaze. "Choi Minho?"

"Yes, him," Natsumi replies. "He's acting suspicious. He's been keeping a watch on you for years. It's strange that I have never noticed it. We need to find out why he is doing that."

"He's from K Country." Wakana blinks her eyes. The mountain and that house… How many mountains are there in K Country? "I had seen one of his childhood memories. I wonder if he still stays at that place."

She hasn't forgotten Nishimura Soichiro's words. It's best not to involve her sisters. However, if something happens to her, she doesn't want her sisters to be clueless about the supernatural world. The Okuyama family was not a part of the supernatural world before their lives changed. 

"Wakana, tell everything about the house that you saw in the memory. Don't skip the details." Natsumi turns to her youngest sister who is good at drawing. "Do a good job Sayuri. I need to look for it."

"Don't worry, Elder Sister." Sayuri salutes her sister. "I am going to even get the colours right."

Why didn't she think of this? Wakana wonders. He might not be at this house, but it's a place from his past. Maybe she can find out what exactly happened with his brother.

Min Jae. If they are blood-related siblings, his brother's name must be Choi Min Jae.
