Supernatural Investigation 101: Chronicles Of Nakashima Wakana

In the train, Nishimura Soichiro is already asleep while Minami Sei is checking something on his phone. Choi Min Ho keeps a smiling face under the intense stare of Nakashima Wakana. Choi Min Ho resists the urge to read Wakana's mind. Even if he's an immortal being, it is unnerving that he's being stared at by the girl he has feelings for.

He looks out of the window, gazing at nothing. Though he loves her, she's already someone else's woman. Even if she didn't choose Minami Sei, it's not like it was ever possible between them. 

If she ever finds out the truth, she might come to hate him. He can bear seeing her with someone else, but he can't bear it if she starts hating him.

But he didn't expect to sign up for the supernatural investigation agency. He had to contact the council to send him to the supernatural investigation agency. If she's serious about this, he can guide her. Besides, there's Minami Sei who is marked by a higher devil. This person is quite dangerous. The council wanted to keep a watch on him to capture the red guest if he appears in the future to take his marked prey.

She's so afraid of the supernatural world. Then, why did she make such a decision? He wants to read her mind and find out. However, he's afraid of hearing her intimate thoughts about Minami Sei. 

A sigh escapes his mouth. How long can he prevent her awakening if she stays in the supernatural investigation agency? It's better if she quits and lives a normal life. But this is her decision. He has no say. 

Sometimes, he feels like he's fighting the inevitable. Maybe his sister-in-law is right. It doesn't mean that he won't try fighting her fate that wasn't her fate once. He will protect her like he always did. Fate can be changed. 

What is he thinking? Three deep lines appear on Wakana's forehead. After observing him for a while, she's sure that he is definitely the same person whom she met around seven years ago in the cemetery. Though she doesn't remember the man who saved her from that demon in that apartment, that person also looks similar to this person. But, why did he appear all of a sudden? He must have a reason for pretending not to know her, but why he's always saving her? 

Choi Min Ho? Is he from K Country? At least, she knows his name. He is better looking than she imagined him to be. She glances at Sei sitting beside her.

Why is she surrounded by beautiful men?

Her thoughts are interrupted by the snores of Nishimura Soichiro. Wakana shakes her head. There's another one here with average looks like hers. Bored, she peeks at Minami Sei's phone and finds him reading a newspaper article about their next case. 

[Mysterious Deaths In Okuyama Family]

She taps her fingers. She needs to talk to Choi Min Ho. If she hears his voice more, then she can compare again. Wasn't he here as a consultant? "Mr Choi, can you tell us more about the case?"

Sei glances at Choi Min Ho once before turning his gaze back to the screen. 

Her questions snap him out of his thoughts. Min Ho gives her a light smile. Though he isn't reading her thoughts, he can tell read her expressions well. What a curious and nosy cat! 

"In Y city, three men from the same family died within three months. Though the first men died due to an illness, the second and the third men died in a strange way. Our first job is to check whether the incident is related to the supernatural world or not. If it doesn't have a supernatural cause, we will move on to the next case."

The next case is already there? Wakana purses her lips. She didn't expect that. She won't have much work, right? 

"Okuyama Yasutaki was a well-known businessman." Minami Sei tells them with a low voice, "His son died around a month ago due to stomach cancer. After fifteen days after his son's death, he started showing strange symptoms. He was always hungry. He was admitted to the hospital because of stomach pain due to overeating. He was discharged after two days. He was found dead on the same night. His stomach was tore opened by what they believed to be a feral animal."

Torn open by a feral animal? Wakana blinks her eyes. Is Y City near a forest? She doesn't think so. Where did the feral animal appear from?

"It didn't stop there. The second son started showing the same symptoms a few days after Okuyama Yasutaki's death." Sei continues with a detached voice. "He was admitted to the hospital. However, he escaped from the hospital at night. In the surveillance camera, they saw him running away from something. He took a taxi from the hospital and went straight to the railway station. He was found dead inside the train's toilet in the same way his father died."

When there's no response, he looks up at Wakana who is quite pale. He squeezes her hand. "Don't worry. It's probably a killer with a grudge."

"..." Is that supposed to make her feel better? She's afraid that she might accidentally touch something at the crime scene and relive through the victim's memory. She shudders. If she has to feel the pain of her stomach being torn open, she might die from a heart attack. 

"Nakashima." She glances at Choi Min Ho. He leans forward with assuring gaze. "You and I will talk to the family members while Nishimura and Minami will investigate the crime locations. We still have some hours. How about you prepare some questions to ask the family members of Okuyama Yasutaki?"

Her hearts relax after hearing his words. She has no doubt now. This is the same person whom she met at the cemetery years ago because no one else can understand her problems like that ghost. Then, she can't call him a ghost anymore. The ghost has a name and he is sitting right in front of her with a foxy smile.
