Shining Duos

Chapter 10 - Dead End Fear

"WHA-" The five all shouted at the same time before they were decisively cut off when five black portals spawned right before they. Without evening having the chance to breathe black tentacles shot out from all the portals and wrapped around the five youths' mouths.

"MMMGH!"

They were struggling trying to escape but to no avail, they couldn't break through and was dragged into the pitch-black portals. Once they were in the portals, the portals dispersed like air.

"Interesting indeed... no wonder you set up that formation outside of the stage to not only limit their cultivation but to also create an illusion for those in the audience so those noisy elders of these youths don't cause a ruckus."

Forest Wing City Lord remarked while surveying the audience who all expecting looks etched upon their faces.

"We can't truly know their limits if they believe they're absolutely safe in these games right? Though I wonder who will come out first, my bets are on the golden hair one she seems like the one with the most spice."

With a hopeful expression, Pisionic Law Master was still looking towards where the portals had vanished off.

"Hooh I would go for the silver hair girl her and the brother do have the divine marking on them, not many can actually survive that kind of thing." He finished the City Lord and started to close his eyes and wait.

"As cliche as this sounds but; True Divinity comes from within."

When Kazami was forced into the portals his surrounding became pitch dark. He couldn't sense nor feel anything besides the metal like a tentacle that was coiled around his mouth. He was still trying to gather all of his Qi but whenever he tried it would be absorbed almost immediately by the tentacle.

The feeling of helplessness started to grow stronger as he realized not even Elder Jon had rushed to save him as he was getting tossed into this space.

Then it happens a white piercing light flashed Kazami eyes as he gazed upon one the most terrifying disgusting monster he had ever saw. It was a giant round creature with dirty, horrible looking black skin all around. Its skins were covered in strange looking markings and filled holes.

The white light that flashed Kazami was it huge protruding eyeball that had blood-red veins all across it. In the center of its eyeball was a black pupil but this pupil was actually the tentacle that was dragging Kazami!

Kazami in his seventeen years of life had rarely experienced fear. An honest and straight forward youth who likes to get straight to the point never even thought of experiencing fear. He who lives in a Middle God realm and has a family that was one of the top powers on this realm; while also being the Young Master of the star family what can make him feel fear?

Even with the training, he do with his sister which would sometimes include fighting monstrous beast he still didn't feel fear and instead felt a secure feeling.

But now all alone in a dark space with no one to rely on and no support to feel he started to experience the terror of the unknown; the terror of death.

The tentacle that was pulling him had started to slow down and give Kazami an even bigger feeling of dread. His only and constant thought was;

'Am I going to die?'

Kuzumi, when she gazed upon the terrifying eyeball monster, felt her blood run cold. This girl was always excited to gain everything her way and would always hold a certain superiority of confidence over most people she met. Being the Young Mistress of the Star Family she had also become quite more mischievous than her brother and similarly never once put the thought of fear in her mind.

However now she started to feel like a pitiful mortal on the edge of death. Her pride in becoming a peak Qi Connection Stage cultivator started to become more duller finding such small achievements doesn't matter as much. The superior feeling she would always have was all but gone at this moment and she started to lose hope.

'But why? Is this what true power is that even the Law Master can just casually kill us and just walk off as if nothing happen. Is this the end?'

Lun Yuo when getting pulled was praying for a miracle or for anything to happen. Witnessing and staring straight at this ghastly existence; she wanted to run away as far as possible and never turn back at this thing again. Unfortunately, she was bound and couldn't even muster up any will to even try to gather her Qi.

Lun Yuo was much more of a thinker alongside her bubbly and competitive personality. Surprisingly even at a young age, she would think about the various emotions she would feel and what such emotion means to her.

The one emotion that always had to confuse her was fear as it was unpredictable for her. She was never able to describe it only somewhat feel it if she were to think about losing things dear to her.

Although now she can truly put fear into words and her only thought was;

'A feeling that will remain forever in your psyche no matter where you go. It's too much...'

Castiel was in awestruck terror and couldn't even focus on the monster. He can't even process what was even happening it was as if his brain just shut down. Castiel was a sneaky calculating youth that always tried to maximize his gains in any deals.

Wanting to beat his rivals in any event that they might end up in he would always try to come up with any scheme to screw them and then show off his power to beat them and make himself feel good.

Although now he couldn't think of anything, it was like whiplash with fear that controlled his brain. He wanted it to just be a nightmare that his brain was playing on him but the reality was crushing his hope second by second.

'I-death-is this death??'

Lauren was frantically moving her body around in anyways she can. She couldn't accept reality or whatever this horrid abomination was. Lauren a very brash and rash girl who loved violence and blood was now feeling what it was like to struggle with no hope.

She had despised everything about being formal or doing everything the right way would never let herself be tied down to anyone's rules. Along with her cousin Castiel she naturally thought not even the god themselves can tie her down. But now with a fist full of reality and grim realization; all she wanted to do crawl into a hole and hide.

'AHHHH! JUST LET ME GO!'

And then the tentacle stopped right in front of its pupil. On the top half and bottom, half of the large pupil sharp black teeth sprouted out and looked like it could tear anything apart.

Up close with the pupil Lauren had finally ceased all movements while the tentacle slid down from her mouth to her waist.
