[7YrSecretLove] Chapter 14.3 — Cancel the Wedding

Luo Qi sent a message to her father again, but her father didn’t reply.

It should be because he was angry with her and didn’t reply on purpose. She canceled the wedding without discussing it, which caught them off guard and made it hard to explain things to the eldest uncle’s family.

Now that she’s broken up with Pei Shixiao, the eldest uncle’s family’s business would definitely be affected, and they might lose their biggest client: the Pei family.

But it wasn’t possible for her to just compromise and make herself go through the wedding for the sake of her uncle’s business.

She took out the compact mirror and touched up her make up carefully.

Her eyes were swollen badly from crying, which could not possibly be remedied by makeup.

She rummaged through her bag but found that her sunglasses were not in it.

After waiting for another half an hour, when it was almost seven o’clock and almost everyone would have already gone home, Luo Qi took her bag and went to the elevator.

… …

In the elevator corridor, the crisp sound of high heels came nearer.

Jiang Shenghe had just reached out to press the elevator button, and instinctively turned his face to look towards the incoming sound. Their eyes met.

Luo Qi: “…”

This was the worst day of her life.

Her eyes were red and swollen, and she still had to encounter the big boss. She has never been so embarrassed before.

“Chief Jiang.” It was impossible for her to come up with a smile, so her face remained stiff.

Ten minutes ago, Jiang Shenghe finished chatting with his aunt and drank another cup of coffee before leaving. He wouldn’t have met her at all if he had left even half a minute earlier.

Anyone who was not blind could tell at a glance that she had just cried, and cried very hard.

The elevator door opened, but he didn’t go in.

It would have been fine if he hadn’t seen her crying, but now that he has—how could he not do anything about it?

He looked at her and suppressed the roiling waves in his heart, “Which company made things difficult for you?”

“No.”

Luo Qi didn’t want her boss to misunderstand that she was so poor mentally, unable to withstand stress, that she was aggrieved and shed tears after a business partner made things difficult for her.

“It’s not because of business. I quarreled with my boyfriend, and this is how it’s like when a woman gets into a quarrel. Thank you, Chief Jiang, for your concern.”

Jiang Shenghe nodded, “Go back early.”

As a boss, it’s inappropriate to ask more questions. He stepped into the elevator.

He was taking a special executive elevator while Luo Qi was waiting for the ordinary elevator beside it, so he didn’t bother to wait for her to get in.

The elevator doors slowly closed, but it stayed stopped there, not moving.

Jiang Shenghe finally glanced at the number keys and realized he forgot to press the floor, so he reached out and pressed the first floor.

After getting out of the elevator, the driver had already pulled the car over and was waiting.

The ordinary elevator had only reached the 22nd floor. Jiang Shenghe looked away and got in the car.

Once the car drove out of the basement, Jiang Shenghe called Jiang Sixun.

It was early morning on Jiang Sixun’s side, and he had just opened his eyes.

Jiang Shenghe got straight to the point. “Help me check on someone.”

“Okay. Who?”

“Pei Shixiao.”

Jiang Sixun found it strange. “You haven’t paid him any attention all this time, didn’t even want to hear his name mentioned. Why are you suddenly interested in his affairs?”

“I asked you to check things out not because I’m interested in him.” Jiang Shenghe explained, “I saw Luo Qi just now; her eyes were swollen from crying.”

Jiang Sixun was very surprised. He had heard from his mother many times before how strong Luo Qi was. When her family encountered so many troubles, she did not shed a single tear—she just carried through.

It was no small matter to make her cry so much that her eyes became swollen.

He analyzed objectively, “Luo Qi is crying in the company, maybe it’s because of the company’s affairs. Let’s start with the company to find out why.”

“It’s Luo Qi herself who told me that she had a quarrel with him. If he makes her cry like this, then they don’t need to marry.”

“… Are you serious?”

Jiang Shenghe said, “Do you think I am joking?”

He was not such a nice person.

There was a sense of morality but not so much as to be like a saint.

She was crying like that—and he couldn’t even ask another question.

Jiang Sixun smiled and happily said, “No matter what you do, I will support you unethically.”

Jiang Shenghe was not completely irrational. “Look into what Pei Shixiao has done recently to provoke Luo Qi. Don’t meddle in trivial matters. But if it’s a matter that breaks principles, I don’t plan to give him another chance.”
