Secret Wife Is A Crazy Beast

Chapter 170 - News that shook the world

Takashi was right. News of the attack broke later that day in Country J. Every news station was providing information non-stop of the group of Country J extremists who open fired in Country A.

The internet was bombarded with opinions and comments of every kind. The government of Country J was still silent and hadn't released any statement yet.

There were sympathisers from the middle and lower classes who supported this 'mission' of vengeance against Country A for causing the demise of their once thriving economy.

Those who were poor and worked the hardest wanted someone to blame so desperately, they didn't care about the innocents who had died.

The liberals and the most educated class of citizenry condemned the violence and vagrant act of terror, demanding transparency and accountability at who supported and backed the terrorists.

The country was torn and conflicted. Lina's consultancy was working round the clock fielding calls from various dignitaries and politicians who wanted answers, protection or solutions to covering up this mess.

Shen sat in his office, his head in his hands, choking up with rage and sadness. The moving images on the news channels across his large TV screen had wrecked his heart with guilt and pain.

Every news channel showed the same thing- people screaming, bodies scattered, children howling and separated from their parents, bloodied pavements and the frantic arrival of emergency services.

No matter how hard he worked, it seemed liked the Moshi name would always be besmirched with the blood of innocents. First came his brothers' victims, and these...these people's suffering was his responsibility.

"It was my shipping vessel....I facilitated this mindless annihilation of innocents" he whispered to himself.

He had known what was going on, but he thought there would be more time before the Lims made a move. He didn't want to risk alerting them, which is why he had allowed this to go on faked ignorance of their activities.

As he grieved, he heard his door open. It could only be one person, he presumed, as he looked up, desperate to see the face that gave him hope and comfort.

There she was, his beautiful wife, worry and sadness for him written all over her face, the honeydew moistness in her eyes spilling emotion.

"Darling..." she whispered as she ran to him, taking him in her arms, knowing that his grief was greater than anyone else's. The guilt gnawing at his heart was so severe, that he could hold back his tears no longer.

She let him sob into her ċhėst as long as he wanted, for she needed him to know that he would never be alone, no matter what happened.

"I will not let him get away with this"

"I know, my love, I know you won't. Nobody could have predicted he would take action so quickly. He's a wild card. I couldn't have predicted this either" she replied, her hand stroking Shen's back, as if consoling a child.

"What do we do next?" he asked, his eyes even though filled with emotion, were burning with a fire of vengeance for those who had been wronged.

Lina took a few long, deep breaths. This would require a lot of tact.

"First things first -- we need to do some damage control. For the innocent victims as well as for you. I am not letting you take the fall. Magnolia Holdings will try to have this point to you somehow. They have already made such an extreme move. Something must be motivating such brash action!" Lina tried to reason.  .

Even by her predictions, she hadn't anticipated Magnolia Holdings and the Lim Clan to push so aggressively in the open to take a shot at Moshi Corporation.

"I want to help--I NEED to help. I don't care about anything right now, except to help those who were hurt. Because of me..." Shen said, his voice cracking again.

Lina cupped her husband's face in her hands, as he held her tightly, his only saving grace, his only light in this world.

"Place the blame where it belongs -- with the Lim Clan. Not you. They did this." she was crystal clear, no matter what their motive, her husband's hands were clean. He would never take the fall for this.

Shen's jaw went slack. That insect, Loren Lim...his father was not capable of such madness, such cruelty. It had to be Loren. There was something off about the heir. He had picked up on it at the dinner at the Lim Villa the other night.

He was a psychopath. He simply did not care who he hurt. They were all just a means to an end.

"Was it because I did not sign the renewal contract and agree to their terms? Is it because I ignored his sister?" Shen wondered out loud, despair shrouding his voice.

"What ridiculous thing could be motivating such extreme action? Does he simply despise me to an unbearable extent?" he continued.

"Don't...." Lina said quietly "a guy like him - we can't possibly fathom what goes on in a brain like his. He's a breed of his own."

At that point, she received several messages from Mei and Takashi from the consultancy. Something had come up. Something Lina needed to attend to directly.

"What's wrong?" Shen asked immediately, reading every micro expression on his wife's face like an open book.

Lina paused for a second. She did not want to stress him out more. But if she had learned anything from their conflicts, it was that they could not keep secrets from each other. Even if it was to protect each other.

There was nothing left to hide from Shen. He knew every part of her and she would love him for every part of him.

"Things are unfolding quickly, darling. The consultancy got wind of inside information from Country A. Moshi Corporation's name has come up. I need to go to my office and put together a contingency" she said, trying to keep her voice as steady as she could.

She needed to exude confidence for her husband, she had to be strong for him. She had to give him faith. She would not let him down.

"What do you mean?" he asked, his heart pounding.

"Rip that contract to shreds. It means that you're at war with the Lims"
