Samurai Showdown With Kakashi

Chapter 70 - Start of an Apocalypse

With my hands tied by several chakra seals, I was taken towards the Land of Iron strapped by leashes the samurai held. We kept moving... on foot... slowly.

- Can't we go any faster? - I started to complain. Honestly I just wanted to annoy Lai.

- You really want to meet your fate that badly? - I guess that's why I feel so comfortable. It's because I know what comes next. I screwed up, and I know where that would bring me.

- I'm really stupid.

- Yes, you are. - Lai responded. He can either read minds, or I thought out loud again.

When fighting Lai I looked at it all in the wrong way. I couldn't beat a samurai master... through samurai techniques. Speed and strenght can only take me so far. He already knows about those, I need to catch him by surprise. Maybe if I had gone with my Iron Style jutsus I could have beaten him. I'll need to try them next time.

- Samunashi, there's something I've been wondering. - Lai suddenly addressed me. - Have you kept in contact with Renji? - Lai may be a monster, but he was still my best friend's master. I suppose he still cares about him.

- No, I haven't.

- Did he know who you were?

- Since the very beggining.

- That bastard! With all his pride, why didn't he tell me you were a Samunashi? He would have been acclaimed for finding such a wanted target.

- Because he is a true friend. It's a pity that he might be imprisioned for life, but at least he won't have to meet this side of you.

- You don't know what happened? Renji escaped.

- WHAT!?? - I stopped in my tracks, as five samurai tried to pull me, but they were like ants trying to pull an elephant. - You have to be kidding me! How is that possible?

- Even I don't know, but I fear it has something to do with the beast within him. Now keep moving. - I stepped back, as four samurai fell on the ground, unable to keep a hold of me. One tried to hold on, but to be honest, the only true restraint I had were the chakra seals on my hands. I couldn't draw my sword, nor make a jutsu.

- Tell me everything!

- You're in no position for demands. - A diamond appeared on Lai's forehead as he advanced towards me faster than sound. If I had a couple gates open, I would've been able to react, but like this I could only spit blood as his knee hit my stomach. - Now let's keep going. I'm sick of chatting. - Lai moved forward, as the samurai got back up, and tried to pull me again. I let them.

- You said you had saved chakra for a month for that diamond thing in your forehead, right? It must be worn out by these uses.

- I've barely tapped to half of it. I wasn't even going all out when fighting you. You just got lucky that you were able to impale me.

- Eh, I thought you said no chatting. - I heard Lai's grunt as we kept moving forward.

If he truly was speaking the truth of not going all out, then I need a degree of power higher than maybe even the fourth gate. Unfortunately, Might Guy only opened four of my Inner Gates. I'll need a really big push to... No, I already decided strenght and speed aren't enough. He can heal from any cut. I would have to hit him with something so deadly not even his regeneration can keep up. I need to tap to the reserves on my legs. That may mean I can't open my Inner Gates, but all I need is one clean hit. Once we get there Lai, you'll get what's coming to you.

While we were walking, I got my hands in an arch position. I couldn't use any jutsus effectively without hand and sword signs, but I only need something small. A small steel dagger formed in between my hands, as I began to strike the chakra seals on my wrists. Due to the several layers of them on my wrists, though, by the time we reached the Land of Iron I still wasn't free.

We passed by the front gate as the guards commented:

- You know Roderick, I prefered you when you were a loser, instead of being a part of a murderous family.

- You guys know I've done nothing wrong. I protected the Land, when they attacked the tomb. - They kept quiet as I was moved towards the headquarters.

I may have done a lot of good, but they'll only know me as my father's son. Why did he have to kill the previous samurai general? I wonder if I'll ever figure out. For now I need to focus on my plan.

As we entered the headquarters I tried to recall where they had Rakuma secured. It's the second floor, I'm sure of it. If I were to rid him of his nightmares and then escape, then I'll at least have one of my objectives clear, and with how cut the seals on my wrists were... wait, what's going on?

I looked around to see the despaired looks of samurai as they seemed to listen to something on their helmets. Some even left immediately, as Lai, who had not been wearing an helmet due to the secretive nature of coming after me, was confused.

- Men, what are you doing? We haven't apprehended the criminal. - "Apprehended"? Don't tell me he's taking me to prison.

- Where are you taking me exactly Lai?

- Straight to Mifune's office.

- The third floor then. "Good." - I mumbled to myself.

- Actually the bottom floor now. Apparently someone threathened Mifune in his own office, and pierced through Alizo's shoulde... It was you, wasn't it?

- Dammit! I should have figured that out! - We both shouted in unison. Lai thought it was odd.

- Why did you scream as well? - I had to think quick. I can't believe I didn't take this into account. He asked why I was screaming, right?

- That. - I pointed with my restrained hands in the direction opposite of the stairs while shaking in fake fear. Lai immediatelly looked in curiosity, as I mumbled. - Fourth Gate: Gate of Pain, Open.

With the surge in strenght I broke through the deteriorated chains, and let a wave of power that dispersed the surrounding samurai, as I took the chance to run towards the upper floor. Lai who had been caught by surprise, fell face first on the ground, only to get up shouting:

- GET BACK HERE! - Lai looked at the distressed samurai around him. - What are you doing? After him!

- Sir, there's another emergency at the moment.

- What could be more dangerous than this?

- The Pain invasion has begun.

I skipped across the two rows of stairs reaching the d.e.s.i.r.ed floor. I saw a bunch of samurai panicking while running around, but none of them seemed to come after me, and with how far away Lai is right now, I'm not in too much danger. I closed my Inner Gates as I manouvered across the building. Rakuma should be in the nurse's office, which should only take a few moments to reach. After two corridors, I faced the door. I grabbed the handle and started to open it, seeing Rakuma's muscular two and a half meter body, and his bald head. I almost felt nostalgic, but being grabbed by the neck, definitely wasn't nostalgic at all.

Lai had bursted through the floor beneath me, grabbing my neck, and throwing me out of the room and against the wall. Lai commented.

- I can't believe you actually got this far. You really caught me by surprise.

- Lai, let me kill him. He can't keep living this nightmare forever.

- You want to kill him?! - Lai started to grit his teeth audibly. - You fooled me into letting you live. You die by my hands now.

I started to flex my body to open my inner gates but I shouldn't. I stopped my first instinct, as I focused on my jutsu. I picked up my sword, and started swinging it around.

- And now you're putting on a show?

- The last show of your life. - I threw the sword upwards, as I stretched my arm backwards. - Iron Style: Crushing Javelin! - The moment my hand came into contact with the falling sword, I threw it forward in a rotating motion as it was surrounded by silver-like wind. Lai moved himself to the side, as it cut through part of his hair. He chuckled:

- That was close, but it isn't nearly enough.

- I wasn't aiming for you.

Lai realized what had transpired, as he looked back in shock. Rakuma had been hit in the forehead by the strike, as it spread some blood out. I put everything in that strike, he had to have died.

Lai crumbled to the side in shock, as he fell on the ground.

- You... you...

- I did it. He's finally in peace. - I looked down in both satisfaction and sorrow. - I... killed him.

The samurai master slowly got back up, as I approached him. I held another sword as I aimed it at his head.

- One samurai master down, now time for the next.

- Is this some kind of game to you? Some way to prove your might. Your family really has no hon...

- I'M NOT MY FATHER! I'm sick of being blamed for things I have nothing to do with! I killed Rakuma... I killed Ra... I killed. - I felt my mind twist upon itself. The act in itself was so simple, but the psychological repercussions were a lot higher than I thought. Lai looked at me in pure disdain. - I... I had to save him from that hell. I ruined his only solution with Shisui. He would stay like that forever.

- He's strong. - Tears came from his eyes. - He would have resisted it. All he needed was time. - He hit my sword away and pointed at me with his. I was too shaken up. - You may believe otherwise. But there's one thing I'm sure of. You're just as despicable as your father. - Lai attempted to slash me, however I was thrown away.

From the nurse's office, big hands came towards my torso, as they hugged me in an enormous thrust.

- Roddie! - Rakuma screamed as he threw me and him both through the wall, and out of the building.

In a mist of confusion, happiness, and dread of falling from the second floor with a brute on top of me, I looked around and saw the horrifying look of the city. 5 Paths of Pain were causing mayhem, one fox like being was folllwing them as he s.u.c.k.e.d the samurai's life away, Orochimaru followed watchful from the back, and an enormous beast was ravaging the land. What kind of Apocalypse did I just get myself into?
