Samurai Showdown With Kakashi

Chapter 58 - A PAINful ending

From within a cave a harduous inhale was heard. A blue haired beautie came to check in on the monstruosity, but did so out of worry, not of fear.

Inside was a man, stuck to the ground by various rods of black pressure, as his mind seemed to be barely conscious. The woman spoke:

- Nagato. Wake up. - The red haired man woke up, and opened his purple spiral eyes. His Rinnegan was active, it always was.

- What is it, Konan? Why are you disturbing me?

- Did you really threathen the Land of Iron? - Nagato looked straight at her, and in an ironic tone answered.

- It wasn't me, it was the brat Yagura. - Konan was clearly in unease. It always pained her to look at her dear friend in such a state.

- He only did so because you told him to. - Konan was deeply worried. - Why would you do such a thing?

- They have one of my paths locked up.

- And he can't free himself?

- The samurai are more resourceful than they initially seemed. Once they beat my path, they sealed him with their chakra techniques. The only way to get him out is either to strike a deal, or with an all out advance.

- You never cared about your paths this much before. To engage with a Land that has never done anything to us...

- And the world! - Nagato corrected her. - They never seemed to care about anyone but themselves. Secluding from the enraging ninja world, when they might the only ones with the power to correct it. It infuriates me!

- They have him, don't they? - Nagato didn't answer, as he stood quiet in inner melancholy. - Yahiko...

- They can't keep him, Konan. At least that you must understand. - Konan was unsure of what to answer. She both agreed with him, and was against it. So she went with the easier option.

- Fine, Nagato. But you're going to need help.

- I was hoping you'd assist me.

- I... I can't. I can't support your stupidity, your recklessness, your suicidal acts of justice. Find someone else if you must. - Konan left the cave, as Nagato was seemingly alone once more. But he wasn't alone. Through his eyes there were the consciousnesses of 5 people, 5 five paths his pain had grown into. And they were already prepared to recruit.

The Akatsuki didn't want to help more than they already had. The threat Yagura had given to Mifune was as much as they were willing to give as far as aid goes. Tobi had offered to come with popcorn to watch the fight, but Nagato quickly refuted. He had to look elsewhere, for someone with similar ideals to his. He had done it once with the Reapers of Metal, he can do it again. He looked around the outskirts of the Leaf Village, for someone who hated that place as much as himself. However, what he found was something much more interesting.

The sounds of a fervent fight were heard all around the woods. A Susano'o versus Four Inner Gates. Their fight couldn't go unnoticed, yet it suddenly stopped. The paths got closer and heard while hidden.

- What did you just do? - Lai asked Shisui in pure fury.

- I showed him the truth. So that he can die in peace. - Shisui was still in pain from being skewered by Roderick, but he still had the strenght to do one more thing. Say goodbye. - I'm heading back.

- Heading back where? We haven't even gone to the Land of Iron!

- I'm going back to my village. I knew it was a mistake to help you samurai from the very beggining.

- You can't. You... you... - Lai was panicking. He was so sure he could do it. - You have to save Rakuma. I can't lose anyone else.

- Then find someone else, I won't be the one to help you.

Shisui leapt away, as fast as he could, in a way Lai couldn't catch him. Lai looked at Roderick and growled:

- You ruined it. You ruined it all! He was your master you stupid kid! - Lai kicked Roderick, throwing his already immobile body to the ground. - And you killed him. Now what am I going to do? We lost Renji! - Roderick was pummeled once more. - We lost Rakuma! - A tooth came flying off his beaten mouth. - All because of that man's legacy. To think Odaku would come back to haunt me after all this time. - Lai focused his blood thirsty gaze at Roderick daunting image. - I hope you bleed out and die in pain, you worthless sc.u.m.

Lai left as well and headed towards the Land of Iron. The only thing he had left to do was to protect his land from the incoming threat. He wasn't the only fighter the samurai had, but he was the most skilled.

Roderick was left there on the ground, with his blood leaking out, as his eyes slowly closed. He didn't want to die, and he tried to stay conscious for as long as he could, but it was inevitable. The last sight before his eyes was the orange hair, as four Akatsuki members looked down at him. One of them asked the others:

- What do we do with this?

- What do you mean? We leave him here. He doesn't have anything to do with us.

- Still, it seemes like such a waste in potential. We're probably the only ones who can make any use of it. - The discussion continued, and a decision was made, as a King of Hell was unearthed.

Meanwhile in the Land of Iron, Mifune was making a call. One of the substitute guards came around and asked:

- Who was that, lord Mifune? - The samurai general was deperate, as hopelessness was seen coursing through his eyes.

- We lost Roderick and Renji.

- Did they die? - The guard was shocked. How could a trip with their nation's strongest warriors go that badly?

- He wasn't clear, but it's almost certainly the case. We also lost any way to bring Rakuma back from his madness. - The guard sat down on a chair, as he looked down deep in thought.

- We're doomed. - Were the only words that came out his mouth.

- We can't give up immediately. - Mifune wasn't one to back down from the worst situations. He always came through. - We still have a couple options.

- Who will you call for help?

- The Valkyries.

The winds in this current of war are uncertain. With the Pain assault coming soon with bigger backup than ever expected how will the Land of Iron resist? Will these Valkyries be enough? Will Roderick join the paths of Pain in their assault? Will Renji be freed from his prison, or will he be overtaken by the Nine Tails Remnants? Will Linja ever get her ink?
