Samurai Showdown With Kakashi

Chapter 16 - A-rank mission

With two days until the day of the robbery, a new week started, and with it a surprise.

- There's something I'd like to try with you, Roddie. - Said Rakuma before we started the training.

- Are you finally going to use chakra? I've been hoping to see your full power.

- No, of course not. You need to deserve that. I won't show it to you just like that. No, today we're working on teamwork.

- Why? I thought you were working on my weaknesses.

- And how do I know this is not one of them? Teamwork is essential for a samurai in their missions. As you know we follow a strict policy that no samurai shall go alone in a mission, to make sure the warrior who goes on a mission is secure, and that in case they are in danger, someone would be there to tell what went wrong later. Most missions of the samurai were only successful because the samurai knew how to work with one another.

- Alright, I get it. I'll admit the fights to the death were getting somewhat monotonous. But what's your plan?

- We're going on a mission.

Rakuma later explained to me what we were going to do. Recently there had been sightings of odd events. People had been seen fighting with someone and then later losing total control of their body. The biggest ocorrence was at the Line Forest, near the borders between the Land of Iron and the Hidden Leaf Village, where both samurai and ninja were assumed to be dead. Witnesses even said that all that's left of who was there is a pile of bodies and blood. That just seems terrifying. Rakuma elaborated that he had asked Mifune for this chance, and that he said he wouldn't mind a day off his classes with me. But still...

- Why can't the ninjas take care of this?

- We can't leave the work to them. Plus with the Nine Tails ocurrence there recently they just didn't have the manpower.

- Nine Tails?

- Apparently the strongest Tailed beast was released there a couple days ago and it took the Hokage's own sacrifice to seal him. It will take some time for them to recover.

- Jeez, that sounds tough. And even then, this mission report just seems...

- Vague and sinister, just the right conditions for you. We're going to do some detective work, you should be excited.

It did seem interesting. Definitely not something that I expected to do. Honestly I just thought I was supposed to teach Mifune, and help with the cleaning, and that the training was their odd reward. A mission of this caliber, an A rank mission, was never something I thought of doing. So I was honestly really excited.

We both went to get equipped for the assignment. I put on the usual samurai attire, a silver helmet, silver shoulder pads and c.h.e.s.t pad, and equipped myself with two swords. Rakuma on the other hand had a ridiculous setup. A crimson armor that covered his entire body tightly with strings, on his back he had a sword that was at least two times bigger than mine, and the worst part was...

- Why aren't you wearing an helmet?

- I don't need one.

- Can I leave mine here then? I always found them uncomfortable.

- It's obligatory. You have to use an helmet for safety reasons.

- Then why can you... - Rakuma ran off ahead, looking back and saying:

- Last one there, eats the other's dinner.

First it was the lack of technique, now the helmet... I'm starting to think he goes against a lot of rules here, but I'm not letting him get ahead. If there's anything I can beat him at, its speed. So I'll show him that I'm not someone to underestimate in a race. With a quick sprint to begin, I ran full speed after the giant. By the time I reached the gate, I caught up with him, but to my surprise he seemed to have been waiting, because he sped up when I crossed him.

- I bet you're excited, Roddie. Thinking you can win.

- Knowing I can win. You may be a force to be reckoned with, but even you can't win against me in this. - I once again sped up.

Rakuma did so as well. Who would have guessed an heavy armored tank of muscle could be so fast? But it didn't matter, once we get to the trees, he won't be able to keep up. As I was thinking I realized we were now crossing the frozen lake where I trained once. A bear with a scar on his nose was drinking there, and once he saw me, he immediately ran away terrified. Can't say I blame him. I leapt from the ground there and got to the tree branches, where I swiftly leapt across them. It felt like I had a pretty significant lead, but once I looked back, I couldn't believe what I saw.

Rakuma began to give it his all. He pressed both feet on the ground below, and with an earthquake like shock, exploded himself forward. Rocks flew in all directions with each of his stomps, as he traveled hundreds of meters with each step. The wilderness would no longer be the same after this level of chaos, however I don't think Rakuma really cares about that. While I was at the top of the trees, I saw him overtake me on the ground, and saying:

- You're going the wrong wa... - I wasn't going to listen to what he said. As horrifying as his brute strenght was, I wasn't going to let myself be beat. I tensed up my muscles, and opened a gate. Opening the gate seemed easier now. I guess the constant strain I've been my body through, as made this look like child's play, even though it still was draining to use. With my body fully energized, I looked at the destructive giant. He might be faster now, but he's definitely not five times faster.

With a sonic boom, I got ahead of his overwhelming destruction, and headed towards the mission objetive. After a minute I could no longer see him, and after the second one, I realized I was lost. I quickly went to the ground and stopped, took out a map from my suit, and analised. However the forest all looked the same to me, so I didn't know where I was.

- Damn it! Why does this always happen when I go out of the village.

Unfortunately for me, I was far ahead of Rakuma already, and couldn't even hear where he was. I wasn't even sure if he knew where I went. I started looking around hoping to see anything familiar, and it worked in the worst way possible.

In the horizon, amongst the trees, there was an arm dangling from a tree branch drenched in blood. I approached the tree, and my worst fears came to realize, when I saw the feet of a dead men on the ground, with nothing attached to them. There was an arm on a tree, a liver in the bushes, pieces of head scattered throughout and... I couldn't even bring myself to continue describing.

I looked around for clues, and saw what seemed to be a similar situation further ahead, as well as a shocked Rakuma standing by it. I got close to him and realized where he was looking. There was a man with his head in his arms, sitting beside a tree. He kept saying something to himself:

- They will kill everyone. And no one can stop them. They will kill everyone and no one can stop them. They will...

Rakuma grabbed him by his shoulders, shaking him, and asked:

- Get yourself together. What happenned?

- They will kill everyone.

- Who's they?

- The 5 Reapers of Metal. They are back, and they will kill everyone. AND NO ONE CAN STOP THEM.
