Reborn Lady

Chapter 20

For ten years, Wei Luo only showed a smiling face when Xiao Heng made an innocent and cute move, and it was almost gone in a flash. As Xiao Heng gradually turned into a small ice cube, Wei Luo’s rare smile disappeared again.

Yin Yong listened silently, several conjectures appeared in his mind one after another.

The little granddaughter was so beautiful. Wei Luo’s indifference was definitely not because of her. It must be because Wei Luo was dissatisfied with King Yan’s exchange of his marriage for money, and blamed his little granddaughter, or was it that Wei Luo disliked her identity from the bottom of his heart? Or, he was just naturally cold, and neither his wife nor children could make him show his gentle side?

“Although there are few such people, I have seen a few of them. Generally speaking, I think that the third master is a gentleman.”

Yin Yong was more fair and authentic. Some men were noble so they may get angry on marrying a merchant girl, may verbally abuse or even beat their wife.

Gentleman?

The corners of Yin Hui’s mouth twitched. Wei Hao was not a gentleman. A gentleman would be polite. Being gentle was also a kind of courtesy. Even if Wei Luo smiled at her more, she would not be so courteous.

“Then, do you like the third master? Do you blame me for arranging for you to marry?” Yin Yong asked pitifully.

Yin Hui was afraid that her grandfather would blame himself, so she turned her head slightly and said angrily, “It doesn’t matter if I like him or not, he just despises me.”

Sixteen-year-old Yin Hui looked like a little girl, with a shy look. Yin Yong finally breathed a sigh of relief. At least, the little granddaughter liked Wei Luo. It would be hopeless for a woman to live with a man she didn’t like.

“Take your time. The couples who are arranged to marry by their parents and the matchmakers are like this. They have never met each other. They are not familiar with each other at the beginning. After some time, the relationship will get better, just like me and your grandmother.” Yin Yong smiled reassuringly.

Yin Hui pouted, “I hope so.”

However, she couldn’t tell whether she really loved Wei Lui.

When they first got married, when he lifted the veil and she saw Wei Luo’s handsome face, she must have liked him at that moment. When Wei Luo was passionate at night, she was often hooked and clinging to him tightly, wishing that they would never be separated. It was just that Wei Luo was too cold during the day, so cold that her liking became less pure. In the end, when Wei Luo proposed to take Wen Ruyue as a concubine, her anger was not because a woman wanted to snatch her man, but because Ji Xianxian and other people would laugh at her.

She didn’t  bother to care about Wei Luo’s heart. No matter who he liked, she just wanted to live her own life well.

“Grandfather, I recently learned something.”

Yin Hui told him about the punishment of King Yan’s second wife and her experience, and said happily, “I used to be too stupid to worry about this and that, but now both my husband and the princess have agreed. I will be able to come back to visit you often during the New Year and holidays.”

No matter how rich Yin Yong was, he still didn’t  know much about the rules in Prince Yan’s mansion. He often told his little granddaughter to abide by the rules, so as not to be punished in the wrong place. After listening to his granddaughter, Yin Yong realized that he as a grandfather was not doing well enough. He put too much pressure on his granddaughter and regarded the Yan Mansion as a Tiger Den.

“It’s good for you to live a more comfortable life, but there are too many festivals throughout the year. You don’t have to come back for all of them, so as not to be envied by Mrs. Shizi and the others. From now on, you should come home every year before the Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and New Year’s Eve.”

“Don’t tell me you don’t want me to come back because you don’t want to see me.”

“Nonsense, I am saying this for your own good.”

The grandfather and granddaughter chatted seriously for a while, and joked for the rest of the time, and an hour passed before they realized it. Zhao Shi sent someone to pass the message, asking the old man when he wanted to have the meal.

Yin Yong was really reluctant to waste time, but the little granddaughter rarely came back, so she should make time to sit with her uncles, aunts and brothers.

“Let’s go eat first,” Yin Yong stood up and said.

Yin Hui leaned over again and held her grandfather’s arm.

They both kept chatting as they walked.

“How is little Heng? Who does he look like?”

“Haha, people with Danfeng eyes (phoenix eyes, shape) have good eyesight and momentum, the boy doesn’t need to be as beautiful as you.”

The conversation spread to the hall, and the whole family came out, other than Mrs. Zhao and Yin Jingshan who came back from their morning errands, Yin Wen and his son were present.

Yin Hui’s eyes swept across her cousin Yin Wen’s chest and stopped. She didn’t look at his face, for fear of revealing her hatred.

“Ah Hui is back, your Second Uncle missed you every day,” the potbellied Yin Jingshan said in a loud and authentic voice.

Yin Hui didn’t have a good impression of her second uncle either. Not long after her grandfather passed away, the Yin family business fell into decline under her second uncle and cousin’s hands.
