Rebirth: The Shadow Of Greed

Chapter 84 - Self blame

..."Who cares about their approval, build it on my private property. If that's the case they have nothing to complain about right?"

Arel noted down the conversation and nodded.

----

Finishing the conversation they hopped into the vehicle and headed back to the estate. The crew that was called in to clean up the mess arrived promptly and passed them as they were arriving back at the estate.

----

Back at the site, a huge body started moving, crawling out from the ground, he clutched his head in pain as he stumbled step by step walking down the road. Not knowing where it leads.

----

"Lord Daymas! Little brother! Are the children safe? Are they alright?"

Sister Agatha ran forward with a limp in her step eagerly waiting for the news about the children.

"Yes, they are safe, however an inquisitor from the church had saved them and brought them back with him."

Daymas answered as he motioned for sister Agatha to take a seat.

"Praise the God of light. So it was true! The inquisitor was here and rescued me. He Brought us salvation. Bless you, for helping find the children. I couldn't thank you enough."

Lord Daymas took a sip of tea that was brought out for him.

"The church was completely destroyed, but the Aquos family are looking towards helping you rebuild the church nearer to the city center what do you think?"

Sister Agatha burst into tears,

"Thank you so much, when the church burnt down, I was prepared to find an abandoned place to stay with the kids. Praise the God of light, praise the Aquos family."

"Don't worry about it. Let's talk about it in detail. For now, feel free to stay in the guest accommodations."

---

Z, Odrunn, and Soli walked into the main hall and plopped down onto the floor. They were tired from the events of the day and finally could catch a breath and take a rest.

Z closed his eyes as he started to have a monologue inside his head.

"If experiment 36 is Sandra, and she was in the incubator, did my actions just now save her? Or did it cause her to be in the incubator?.

If that is truly the case, I cannot rule out that the Church of light is linked to the Council. If that's the case, the enemies are too strong and the strength I must wield must be tweaked accordingly.

In my previous life, the council had extended their reach far and wide, they had all the resources they need and with the funding of the incubator, they created special task forces on behind the backs of the government.

X, I wish you were here. I wish I can find you now. But right now, it's still too soon. I have to amass my power. I'll get a good rank in the military, get a team of elite soldiers and find you, with me acting in the dark and you acting in the light, we can finally organize an operation to finally take down the council once and for all."

Z began to drift off as he lost himself in his thoughts. Opening his eyes, he realized that the room had become dark. He turned his head only to see Odrunn sleeping soundly in the dark.

Z sighed as he got up and moved out of the living room. He wanted to get out of the house and get a bit of fresh air. Stepping out of the house, he noticed a silhouette sitting in the garden looking at the moon.

Stepping on the grass, it created a rustling noise causing the figure to turn her head, her beauty enhanced by the moonlight.

"Sorry, did I disturb you?"

Z asked, looking at Soli who turned her head.

"No, not at all, I'm just admiring the moon. Come take a seat with me."

Soli beckoned for Z to come over.

Taking a seat next to Soli, Z looked up at the bright moon and sighed. It was indeed really beautiful.

"You know I've missed this, we haven't seen the moon in a while and I was beginning to miss looking at the moon. Originally, my name was to be called Luna, like the moon, my sister is Soleil which is the sun. But due to a prophecy, naming me Luna will cause trouble to the family.

Needless to say, the elders were against it, in the end naming me Soli. Maybe it did avert disaster for the family, one day, while my mother was brought me out for a meal, she had a seizure and passed away. I kept thinking, if I didn't ask her to bring me out, maybe just maybe she would have survived. Maybe I was the one who caused the death of my mother.

My father remarried to that woman that's a manipulative bitch. It's my fault for the strained relationship between my father and Soleil. Sometimes, I just think maybe it would be better if I haven't been born at all."

Soli sighed as tears welled up in her eyes, glittering from the rays of the moon.

"You are blaming yourself for things that happen out of your realm of control. Worry about the things that you can change and stop thinking about the things you can't. Your existence did not cause the issues, but rather it was choices made. I used to be like you, I blamed everything on factors that I couldn't control. I was a certain way, because of something else. It was never because of my choices. But I realized and I took control, so do what you can. That is the most important thing you should do right now."

Z replied before silently continuing to watch the moon.

"You're right... perhaps..."

Soli smiled as the two continued to sit in silence for a while. The night slowly got later as they returned to their respective rooms to sleep.

Waking up to a new day, Z left his room and entered the dining hall yet again, Odrunn was nowhere in sight, he had probably fallen into a deep sleep somewhere and just couldn't wake up. They had stayed in the mansion for a while now and it was finally time to head back to the academy. Walking into the dining hall, he felt a look of disgust landing on him.
