After arriving home to her posh mansion she immediately called Bai Meixiu in case she got worried when she realizes that she's gone.

"Yingyue, where are you?!" Meixiu asked with a mixture of anger and worry in a hushed voice.

"Don't worry, I'm fine. I'm back home!"

"It's not you who I'm worried about! I'm worried for myself! Ye Jiangyu is PISSED! He's giving practically everyone death glares especially me. He seems to think I made you leave!"

Xia Zhilan rolled her eyes.

"Meixiu, what'd you expect me to do?" She complained "He wanted to keep me next to him the entire evening!"

"That's because he likes you!"

"So what? I'm not his pet that he can put on a leash." Although it had been Xia Zhilan's goal to 'seduce' him, Ye Jiangyu was seriously getting on her nerves. 'Male protagonist or not, he doesn't own me.'

"But I thought you wanted him to?" Meixiu asked.

"I was only considering it. You didn't expect me to throw away my happiness and marry a man that I dislike for my parents, right?"

The original Xiao Yingyue was truly stupid.

"Anyways, I'm going to go home in case Ye Jiangyu decides to kill me from anger." Bai Meixiu hung up.

The next morning, before even breakfast, Ye Jiangyu visited the Xiao family home. Yingyue's parents were of course pleasantly surprised by his unexpected visit especially when they learnt that he came over because of their daughter, Xiao Yingyue.

They were practically beaming when they called Xia Zhilan over and kept giving her meaningful glances and chuckling to each other.

Meanwhile Xia Zhilan felt annoyed.

"Jiangyu have you eaten yet?" Mother Xiao asked in a welcoming tone.

"Not yet, auntie." He replied

"Then you should stay over and eat breakfast with us."

"Sorry for the trouble auntie and uncle." Jiangyu replied respectfully.

"I'm sure you two have a lot to speak about. We'll stop disturbing both of you then."

Mother and Father Xiao left whilst giving glancing at Xia Zhilan discreetly.

"Why did you leave last night?" He asked immediately after.

Looking down at the floor, Xia Zhilan replied "W-well... It's just that after leaving the bathroom, I felt as though someone was watching me... I had a really bad feeling so before I could tell you I quickly called my driver over... I'm really sorry for not telling you earlier!"

Ye Jiangyu furrowed his brows "You felt someone watching you?"

"It was probably nothing! Maybe I'm just feeling paranoid..."

"I'll go investigate."

"No it's fine! You really don't have to!" Xia Zhilan replied hurriedly.

"It's fine. As the future CEO of the Xiao Group, it's not surprising that someone will act against you."

Seeing that his reply seemed to have frightened Yingyue, he quickly said determinedly "Don't worry. I'll do my best to protect you!"

Xia Zhilan smiled brightly at his words "Then I'll have to trouble Brother Jiangyu."

Ye Jiangyu felt his heart flutter at being called 'Brother Jiangyu' so affectionately by Xiao Yingyue.

'How cheesy!' Xia Zhilan thought inwardly whilst rolling her eyes.

During breakfast, Zhilan purposely glanced at Ye Jiangyu many times that even her parents noticed. However when he would look over, she'd force herself to blush madly and look down.

'My acting skills are too good!" Xia Zhilan thought to herself, satisfied my everyone else's reactions.

Her parents were chuckling to each other whilst Ye Jiangyu had a slight smile on his face.

"You kids should go out and enjoy yourself while you still can." Her parents suggested cheerfully to them after dinner.

"Brother Jiangyu, I heard your company opened a new mall last week! Let's go visit it" Xia Zhilan said eagerly to Ye Jiangyu.

Chuckling slightly, Ye Jiangyu nodded and went outside to start his car.

"I'll be back soon!" Xia Zhilan said happily to her parents.

Seeing their daughter's excited face, they nodded with a smile.

A couple hours later, Xia Zhilan already had multiple bags of jewellery and clothes bought by Ye Jiangyu.

"Brother Jiangyu you didn't have to buy me so many things... You know I can afford it myself."

"Just consider it a gift from me" Ye Jiangyu said whilst smiling at Xia Zhilan's pouting face.

"I'm kind of hungry. Let's find a place to eat!" Xia Zhilan said happily.

Nodding his head, he lead them to a high-class Western styled restaurant.

Whilst visiting the mall, many magazines and online articles had already uploaded photos of the two hanging out and eating together.

Many people were speculating their relationship. However many people were already expecting it, who else is worth Ye Jiangyu apart from Xiao Yingyue? Despite that, many people were discussing it after all, the heir to the Xiao Group and Ye Coperations could be getting together was not a small deal.

Most people already assumed that the two were engaged.

After arriving back home, Xia Zhilan already found out about all the articles on their supposed relationship but of course, she had already expected this. It was almost impossible for them not be recognized since they both have been in many articles, magazines, newspapers and appeared on TV multiple times.

Bai Meixiu called Xia Zhilan many times when articles first started appearing. Of course she was also curious on their relationship.

"Yingyue are you really going out with Ye Jiangyu? I thought you didn't like him."

"What?" Xia Zhilan pretended to be anxious "I'm not! We only hung out for a while. I don't know why everyone thinks we're engaged now.." She said in a aggrieved voice.

"I don't know.... If you do get married to someone in the future else it could ruin your reputation..." Meixiu said in a small voice.

"Well, in my opinion he's definitely the best man for you. Extremely handsome, extremely wealthy and extremely powerful! He's as good as anyone can be. But if you like someone else..." Bai Meixiu said optimistically.
