As he took each step closer everyone, even the old emperor started to question the random woman's sanity.

'Is this woman crazy?' the ex-emperor thought to himself 'Seems like it... She's clearly no match for me yet she still dares to act so arrogantly in front of me. Even having d.e.s.i.r.es to control the empire that my great-grandfather had built from nothing, right under my nose.'

When the ex-emperor was around 10 meters from her, Liu Chunhua finally started to panic slightly. However she still forced herself to remain calm as she was almost 100% sure her lover, Yan Qinyu will definitely arrive to save her and kill this annoying old man.

Once he was dead, the entirety of the Eastern Snow Empire would be in her hands without having to deal with the troublesome political problems as Zhu Wei, the new emperor in name, would deal with all of that.

Seeing that Liu Chunhua had her eyes closed calmly and wasn't resisting at all, he was extremely confused. Despite that he still attempted to throw a casual punch at her. However with his strength of a cultivator at Dao Seeking Realm against a cultivator at Nascent Soul Realm, it could kill her or at least knock her unconscious and leave her with life-long injuries.

However when his fist was only miliseconds away from killing her, the old emperor felt his hand being blocked by someone.

A random woman, who he had not seen at any moment of the rebellion, stood in front of him, holding his fist calmly with an expression of regret.

Seeing how this woman was calmingly stopping his punch, he could tell that she must be extremely strong, probably even stronger than himself.

"Who are you and what business do you have with me or this woman?" the old emperor said in a respectful but not submissive tone whilst putting his arm back down.

"Well I actually didn't want to interupt your fight however, it turns out that it doesn't count if you let someone else do your task for you" Xia Zhilan replied in a passive agressive tone to her system.

'I thought it was pretty obvious that it wouldn't count if you let someone else eliminate your target." it replied back snarkily.

'Yeah, but I kinda instigated it...' she replied in defense.

Liu Chunhua, who was standing behind Xia Zhilan, finally looked up at the person who was 'protecting' her.

"Who are you?" she asked cautiously "Wait aren't you that woman who visited me a couple months ago?"

Liu Chunhua smirked inwardly 'I knew it, this girl probably saw my hidden potential back then and came to save me now!'

"Ah... Did I?" Xia Zhilan asked confusedly "Oh yeah, I did."

Hearing Zhilan's sentence Liu Chunhua furrowed her brows "Aren't you here for me?"

"Well, obviously. Why else would I jump into a random fight. To have a little chat with this old man - emperor? Or whoever this is" Xia Zhilan replied sarcastically.

"Wait, did Yan Qi - The Shadow King send you here to save me?" Liu Chunhua asked happily with her eyes gleaming hopefully, thinking she had put the pieces together.

"Yan Qinyu?" Xia Zhilan repeated amusedly with her arms crossed.

Liu Chunhua, believing her beloved had sent her, suddenly asked angrily "Who are you? What relation do you have with my man?!"

'Who is this lady anyways? I thought Yan Qinyu hated even being near other women apart from me. How does this woman even know his real name?'

Whilst Liu Chunhua's jealousy was starting to bubble, Xia Zhilan just stared at her with a dumfounded look.

Meanwhile the old emperor nodded his head in realisation - must be a love affair.

"Your man? What relationship I have with him?" Xia Zhilan asked whilst trying not to laugh

Liu Chunhua glared angrily at her, urging her to answer

Zhilan merely laughed disdainfully in response.

"Hmm... I guess you could say I'm his... Murderer."

Liu Chunhua's face froze in shock.

Even the old emperor, who had seen many things in his lifetime, couldn't help his startled expression at the sudden plottwist.

'How amusing...'

"W-what do you mean?! You're lying!" Liu Chunhua screamed "Tell me the truth, now! Where is he? Give him back to me you man-stealing s.l.u.t!"

Xia Zhilan simply watched with her eyebrows slightly raised in amus.e.m.e.nt as a fully grown woman had a meltdown in front of her.

"Give him back! He's mine! He's not dead, you just want him for yourself. How can you kill him? That's impossible! He's the strongest man ever."

"If he was still alive he would've been here now" Zhilan said shortly whilst throwing an obsidian-black longsword onto the floor by Liu Chunhua's feet "Recognise this?"

Of course Liu Chunhua recognised it. It was Yan Qinyu's signature sword.

"Why is this happening to me? My first lover betrays me and my new lover's murdered by some random bitch... Why? Aren't I supposed to be the protagonist?" Liu Chunhua's grieving face suddenly became ferocious "It shouldn't be like this... Hahaha... I'm the main character... "

With crazed eyes, Liu Chunhua carried on screaming whilst pointing agressively at Zhilan "You're nothing, you're just some random side-character! How dare you? How f.u.c.k.i.n.g dare you?! You think you can just come into MY world and kill my man? I'M THE MAIN CHARACTER! THIS WORLD REVOLVES AROUND ME! Why else would I be here? Because I'm special unlike you who's just some useless cannon fodder."

'I mean, technically she's right.... She is the main character of this world but aren't they not supposed to know?' Xia Zhilan asked the system

'Sometimes when main characters are pushed to the limit they can get a little bit of self-awareness. Only a little bit." System 005 explained.

Whilst Liu Chunhua was screaming wildly and Xia Zhilan was just casually watching, the old emperor was extremely taken aback by this sudden display.

'This lady is insane... And the other one is just laughing about it! Maybe I should leave now, but I'm strangely entertained...' Emperor Zhu thought to himself.
