Chapter 6 - Where Did He Go?

Zhao Yun looked from the bottom of the wall to the top of it, he found that the wall was quite grand looking, at the top of the wall was a V-shaped roof and the wall was about fifteen meters tall. Turning his head to his right he found that it travelled all the way to the horizon.

"How do I get over it though?"

Cultivators in the Elementary Realm focused on cultivating the spiritual energy in the air to refine their bones, organs, meridians, and state of mind, they only possessed inhuman strength within this realm however jumping even fifteen meters was a challenge, he could not manipulate spiritual energy freely to propel himself upwards until he got stronger.

He looked to both left and right and saw that there were not many trees along the border of the wall, a light bulb suddenly flashed above his head cause a small smile to form on the side of his lips.

"It would be a joke if I could not escape"

Rustle

Before he could even try out his idea he suddenly heard the sound of bushes moving a little ways away.

He quickly used both Mystic Eyes and Shadow Void Steps whilst dashing behind a tree for cover. Remaining silent he glanced towards the source of the sound.

Woosh

A figure dashed over the Chen Border Walls and landed on the ground, creating up a bunch of dust to kick up into the air.

Because of the night cover, Zhao Yun couldn't see his face and could only make out that the figure was a middle-aged man dressed in a white and black robe.

Zhao Yun couldn't help but think, 'Who is so daring to enter the Chen Clan from over their walls like this?'

Woosh

Woosh

Two other figures dashed over the wall and landed on either side of the middle-aged-man almost immediately after. These two people were dressed in black robes and seemed to carry an air of arrogance, one had a bald head and was quite burly overall, the other had a sharp nose with short black hair. Their aura was quite domineering and Zhao Yun could clearly tell that these two were someone to be reckoned with. If he had to go against them now they would mop the floor with him.

"Mr Duan how confident are you in ridding the poison in our Clan Leader's daughter"

At this moment the burly figure suddenly spoke out and asked, they were sent to escort one of the top medical masters in Qing City to the Chen Clan in order for him to cure their young miss.

It was not easy paying for these doctors services, but when you did this man indeed wouldn't let his clients down. He even came especially to their Chen Clan which was a fare ways away from Qing City. Although a part of it was for his reputation in treating his clients well it was because he charged extra for personal visits and even more so for travelling so far from home.

Since the Chen Clan paid for his services and more, why would he not come out to personally visit?

The middle-aged-man in the middle frowned a little before speaking, "From what was described of the poison it is indeed ruthless and a nasty one indeed, however, under the heaven there is always two opposing forces, if there is a cause then there is an effect since the poison exists it must naturally have an opposing force. There is nothing that cannot be cured, it is just that we have not found the method of cure. Naturally, I have my ways"

"You still have not answered my question"

Sighing the middle-aged man said "I am seventy percent confident"

"Let's not waste any more time, let us go"

The bald man nodded his head and the three of them dashed into the forest.

Zhao Yun only came out of cover after confirming that they were gone, he could hear everything that was being said and was a bit speechless, "It seems I may be in some trouble"

Matching his current knowledge with the information he had just learned, it seemed that the "young miss" they were referring to was indeed the daughter of the Chen Clans Clan Leader, Chen Luoyang!

He couldn't help but laugh which betrayed the look of annoyance on his face, "A misunderstanding turned into a situation like this?"

"Whatever, let's just leave this place first and figure out what to do later"

With that said he turned his head in a certain direction and went to try his idea.

...

Two days later

Hurried footsteps could be heard in an echo clacking their feet wear against the flat rock path, cellar doors were seen at either side of the tunnel and judging from the amount of noise being made it was obvious that there was more than one person.

This was exactly the place Zhao Yun had been trapped in for the last ten days, it was the Chen Families Cold Cellar Prison.

Finally, they arrived at the end of the hallway where they were greeted with yet another large cellar door.

The entourage consisted of a little young girl, she looked to be around thirteen-years-old, her skin was white as snow and appeared to be just as soft, she had an adorable small nose and had big purple eyes, a purple dress robe wrapped itself around her tiny body. On the upper front of her dress, one could see the Chen insignia.

She glanced at the tall man who had his face hidden by the straw hat he was wearing, seeing her glance in his direction the tall man nodded, he moved forward and took out a set of keys.

C.l.i.t

Clack

The cellar door opened and two figures were seen inside.

Seeing the door open Chen Lei and Bao Jie were greeted with the sight of the group of three, seeing the young girl they immediately bowed in unison, "Greetings young miss!"

"Greetings Elder Lin"

The cupped their hands in front of the other man who was by Chen Chao'er side, he was an elder of the Chen Family, Third Elder Lin.

The young girl was Chen Chao'er, the daughter of the famous Chen Yuoyang, seeing the two figures she frowned lightly and looked around the room, before glaring at the both of them, "Where is Senior Brother?"

Chen Lei and Bao Jie were confused, what senior brother? However, a figure appeared in their minds and a bad feeling set in.

"I apologise young miss but I don't know whom you are referring to," Bao Jie asked while still cupping his hand.

Chen Chao was red in the face, when she was attacked whomever it was made quick work of her, however, before she passed out she managed to see a young boy defend her. She was sure that if not for his intervention she may have died.

When she awoke, she immediately asked for her saviour, however, when she was told that the boy she was asking for was actually locked up in the Cold Cellar Prison she left straight away.

"I am talking about the boy who was locked up in here! How is that I found you guys here instead? Why did you lock him up?! We should be giving him gifts and treating him as an honoured guest, I may have very well have died if it wasn't for his intervening" The little girl waved her hands in frustration.

Seeing as how their thoughts were confirmed, they didn't dare lie to the young miss and explained the events leading to the present.

After explaining what had happened both Chen Lei's and Bao Jie's faces were unsightly, but they both had different expressions. Chen Lei's expression was twisted to a deadly one and was gnashing his teeth while Bao Jie's face was black, being the smarter one he should have been more cautious but instead he was locked inside with Chen Lei of all people by a cripple!

If this got out to the rest of the Clan they would be the biggest laughing stock the clan has ever seen in a long time.

"Hahaha"

It proved to be true when Chen Chao heard the end of the explanation she laughed so hard her she had to hold her stomach from the pain.

What a joke, two Nascent Realm Cultivators were tricked by a cripple that was supposedly half dead?

Chen Lei's eyes frosted over and a red light shimmed in the depths of his iris's, he was greatly displeased being laughed at like this, when has he ever suffered such humiliation before? However, he couldn't do anything in front of Elder Lin so he turned his head and cursed in his mind, 'Let's see you try laughing later, enjoy this time now'. Thinking this he calmed down and a small sly grin appeared at the side of his lips for a split second so no one noticed it.

After giggling her guts out Chen Chao calmed down, her face tilted to the side while she pondered, "Senior Brother, where did you guy?"

She thought for a moment, "If he is really a cripple how did he do it?" she was referring to what happened in the forest and this moment.

She was in the Ninth Stage of Nascent Realm, and she was beaten unconscious in just a flash, she could barely even tell that there was danger, if she knew that she was going to be attacked she would have stayed with the group instead of running off as she did.

When she thought about it she had doubts whether Nascent Realm Cultivators were the attacker's match.

The problem was that the young boy whom she saw defending her before she passed out was supposedly just a cripple, so how come she was not dead or kidnapped? What was the attacker's objective? While she was poisoned and it was troublesome to be rid of, they were the Chen Family, they had resources that outsiders didn't have access to so after the famous doctor arrived from Qing City to the Chen Clan she was cured.

The poison was known as the Snake Wearing Poison, it was a type of poison that once injected would immediately paralyze and not only suck the spiritual essence from the victim dry, it would also drain the victim's mental energy plunging them into a deep sleep.

That was why she was unconscious for eight days.

Though Chen Chao was cured she could still feel her body being exhausted, after all, two days ago when she awoke she had only found out today that the young boy who defended her was thrown into prison. She was still in the process of recovering which was why she was accompanied by Elder Lin.

Which led to her coming down here, but who knew that she would instead find these two guys locked up in his place?

'Who are you?' She was puzzled as to the boy's background.

Elder Lin also scanned the cell meticulously, he too was curious as to how a cripple could actually get away. Even if Chen Lei and Bao Jie were in the Elementary Realm they should have been able to react in time.

Scratching his beard, the Elder Lin who had remained silent until now voiced his opinion "He should not have gotten far, but if he really is a cripple then I am afraid he may very well have died in the traps set up outside. Since we have not received reports about such a boy within the area of our Chen Family it is highly likely. What would the young miss like to do?"

Chen Chao looked down at her feet in disappointment and self-blame, because of her curiosity and her recklessness, she endangered an innocent young boy and may have even got him killed.

The thought made her heart squeeze in pain, while she was tearing in guilt she suddenly saw something glim from the corner of her eyes.

Curious, the little girl walked over to the corner of the room to get a better look, "Hm? What is this?"

Everyone in the room watched her in confusion, only Elder Lin remained indifferent, it was if he had long noticed that it was there.

In her hands was a green-plated tag with a small chain attached, on both sides a mountain peak that broke through the vast sky could be seen carved into the tag, it looked quite serene.

She glanced at the two "Prisoners".

Seeing the young misses gaze rest on them Bao Jie quickly answered, "Young miss, when we were-" he was about to say "Interrogating" but the word was stuck in his throat, so he changed his wording "searching the boy's body, that was around his neck. I can only assume he dropped it before he..." at this point he just wanted to dig himself a hole to hide in.

The Chen Lei who remained silent this entire time and let Bao Jie do the talking finally turned his head to pay attention.

Chen Chao'er softly frowned before looking back at the green jade token. "Uncle Lin, I want to show my gratitude and pay back the favour to the boy so I want to look for him. But... If he is gone then I wish to find out about his background and erect him a burial" her small hand clenched the jade green tag hard.

Chen Lei frowned, the only thing he wanted to do right now was to rip that cripple apart and slaughter his family, yet this young miss wanted to erect him a burial? Was she trying to anger him on purpose?

Elder Lin nodded his head, "That is the way it should be, the young miss is really magnanimous" he shot a glance towards the tall figure next to him who wore the straw hat and had been silent this entire time.

The straw hat man naturally knew what Elder Lin meant, his gaze flashed coldly and in the next moment, he vanished leaving behind a gust of wind.

Chen Chao smiled a bit, for some reason she felt warm but sad when recalling the back of the young boy who defended her, "We should ret-"

Cough, cough, cough

Her sentence was cut short, her knees dropped to the ground, she covered her mouth with both hands began coughing intensely.

Elder Lin's face immediately turned pale and hurried to her side, "Young miss!"

He frowned deeply when he noticed the blood that was on Chen Chao's little hands, "It is time to leave, you need more rest. You shouldn't have come down here"

She could only nod her head gently in agreement.
