Pokemon: Ultimate Generations

Chapter 52 - People Don't Listen!

After eating and talking with Gan, Warren took his leave. He needed to grab some items of his own for this operation. He also wanted to head to Celedon City to get a few things done. Warren said that he would contact Gan with his satellite phone when he was ready.

Gan would be heading towards Viridian Forest soon, so he wanted to buy a tent and some food. Gan used his Pokedex to see if there was a store that sold berries. After checking, there was indeed such a store.

The Pokedex showed him the location before he set off there.

The streets weren't that packed with people like Viridian City, but there was still a good amount of people roaming here. Gan wouldn't need to ask for directions with this Pokedex, it could even tell him the Pokemon that inhabit certain areas.

The store was called [Life Beyond].

These stores were all over Kanto and Johto. Gan went to the food section, the line was packed with people. He looked at the prices of the berries before he started to load his cart up with them.

Mago berries, Lum berries, Liechi berries, Leppa berries, you name it. Gan had just over a quarter of a million, he had ₱251,000. After loading his cart up with berries, he found a large cooking pot, similar to the one in Sword and Shield.

Next, he went to buy a tent. There were many different tents on sale, there were plain tents and ones with Pokemon on them. Gan chose a tent with Gengar on it, which was all purple. He bought water bottles, honey, and different types of meats for cooking later.

Gan got in line and awaited his turn silently.

He paid ₱70,000 for everything, with his tent costing the most, obviously. After having everything bagged, he summoned his Machop and Mankey to help him carry these things out. Gan didn't have a void backpack, those cost too much, but he had something better.

He went to a public restroom and stored everything before leaving towards the gate out of the city. However, Gan didn't realize that he was being watched this whole time by people with bad intentions.

Gan once again passed through the small post building where other trainers resided. They were conversing as usual with each other happily. Gan just pass these people by and went on ahead to Viridian Forest.

"I'm back again, this place looks amazing as always." The sun could bȧrėly shine in this forest due to how thick the vegetation was here. It gave off that mystical forest-like feeling when you set foot in here.

Once they saw Gan, they displayed expressions of fear before squirming away. Gan smiled and shook his head before advancing further through the forest. He moved swiftly through the thicket, he knew exactly where to go, so his movements were clear.

He could see many Pokemon, including Weedles and Metapods in trees. Gan wasn't interested in any of these Pokemon, so he didn't give them a second look.

However, he still needed to catch a Pikachu, if he could find one here then he would need to head towards the Powerplant for one later. Eventually, he could see that post again filled with Rangers wearing green clothes and gear.

Gan showed them his ID to prove his age, that's all they really cared about. Afterward, he was allowed to pass by where he saw more kids trying to catch Pokemon with their parents.

"Oh, it's you!" Just as Gan appeared to be rushing towards the exit of the Viridian Forest, he was called out.

Gan paused and saw that it was a woman, she had short brown hair and green eyes. She appeared to be in her mid to late thirties. She wore a simple pain dress with jewelry around her neck and wrist.

Gan recognized this woman, she was the mom of that girl he traded back then.

"I never got to properly thank you for that trade with my daughter. She really loves that Clefairy she received, she even followed your tips to not evolve it right away."

"My name is Natalie, by the way." Before Gan could reply, she spoke again. The woman smiled and stuck her hand out to give Gan a handshake.

"Oh, yeah, no problem. I really needed that Bellsprot back then, so it was a worthy trade." Though, in reality, it could be considered a rip-off trade—that wasn't in Gan's favor.

Gan was shaking her hand when her husband and daughter came over.

"Wow, you're the mister that traded me that cool Clefairy. All of my friends can't beat my Clefairy and Nidoran." The little girl held her head up high with confidence.

"Oh, hey little girl... and I'm not a mister." This kid was still calling him that? Was she deaf?

"Hey, young lad, my name is Conway. Me and my wife wanted to thank you back then, but you seemed busy. Here, take this and come visit us when you get the chance." Conway took out a Golden Card and handed it to Gan.

"Mister, you have to come and visit me. I will battle and beat you with my powerful Pokemon." The little girl smiled and pulled Gan's arm.

Gan took a look at the Golden Card and saw that it showed an address. All he did was trade her, he never expected such an invitation from just this.

"I'll be sure to go and visit you guys, thanks for the invitation." Gan pocketed the card and said.

"Alura, stop being so touchy. Let the trainer go do what he needs to do, he'll come to see you in the future." Alura just turned 10, in the games, this was an eligible age to be a Pokemon Trainer, but not here.

"Sorry, mom." Alura spun around on one leg and arrived near her mom's side. "But still, you have to come and battle me, so don't forget it." The little girl was dressed really well, her family wasn't simple from what Gan could gauge.

'Why do I have to battle you?' Gan's eyebrows twitched, but he wasn't really against a battle.

"Yeah, sure..." Gan said nodded.

"Then it's a promise!" Alura jumped up and said happily.

'I didn't promise anything, stop putting words in my mouth!' Gan was speechless. He didn't even care about his supposed promise to battle Zorn, he already decided to not show up against him.

"Alright, we were just leaving. Thank you so much for your company, we'll be on our way now." Conway shook Gan's hand and took his family away.

Gan nodded but he followed behind them because they were also going to Viridian. Alura took this time to talk to Gan about many different things. He told her about Gym Leaders and the Elite 4—and that he was challenging the League.

Alura looked excited, she wanted to fight the Gym Leaders and Elite 4 too. However, Alura was underage, so she wasn't allowed to challenge them now. She could only wait until then, it was best for Alura to train her Pokemon for now.

Gan could only imagine how she would feel if she knew he had a Gym Badge already. Once they reached the city, they split ways with Alura telling him to come fast and battle her.

As they were leaving, Gan laughed before making his way to the Pokemon Center. The Pokemon Center was just as huge as it had always been. The streets were crowded as usual with people going in and out of stores alike.

However, there were more stalls set up than last time.

Gan took a seat, he could hear people getting their names called. They would bring out their previously injured Pokemon to the trainers, all healed up. The healing machine could only heal minor wounds, fatigue, cleanse the body of status problems, and wounds that were slightly serious.

Serious injuries required personal treatment from the nurses. Something his Growlithe had to go through, no healing machine could soothe such injuries. As Gan was waiting, the nurse from before walked out and spotted him.

The nurse grinned and grab the clipboard filled with names, she spotted his name and called it. Gan looked up, he was initially reading some magazine he saw on the table in front of him.

"You came, that's good. Right this way, your Growlithe's doing amazing now." The nurse waved her hand, gesturing him to follow her.

"So, about those pills?" Gan questioned.

"We have some pills, but recently, some better pills hit the market. These pills should be able to completely heal her within 15 days, she'll need to take 2 a day." The nurse explained slowly.

"Wait, the pills last time were different. I paid for different pills, so does that mean the price will go up or something?" Gan asked curiously.

"No. You already paid, the only difference is that this batch of pills will be enough to heal her without you coming back for more." They could see a door up ahead, many nurses were walking through the hallways here—going to their own destinations.

"Thanks." Hearing the nurse's words, he already knew she was doing him a favor with this.

"No problem, just take care of her from now on." The nurse spoke resolutely.

'I told you I wasn't to blame for its condition!' Gan's forehead wrinkled, people didn't seem to listen in this world. Gan's eyes wandered, before landing on the nurse's buŧŧock, it was shifting left and right with each step she took.

'Damn, what am I thinking?' Gan reverted his eyes away when she opened the door.

Some other nurse was feeding Growlithe. Growlithe was leaping with joy, its tongue was out and it was acting like a real dog.

Gan Decided to scanned Growlithe again to see its condition.
