Pokemon In Cultivation World

Chapter 2 - Choose a Starter

"Holy shit that scared me...." Blake stood up and patted the dust out of his b.u.t.t. The screen appeared out of nowhere without warning.

"Just now when I fell.... Did I feel pain?" Blake suddenly realized something important. If he can feel pain, he is not in a dream.

"No, no ,no it can't be....But what if..." He wanted to deny it, but he found out he couldn't get this idea out of his head.

"Since it's like this...." Blake clenched his fist and stared a tree nearby with a determined gaze. He lifted up his fist and...

"OOUUUUUCH" Blake miserably cried out after punching the tree. Well, that's what happens when a untrained person punches a tree with full power, thankfully, he is not that strong so his hand only hurts and it did not break anything.

He started to blow air into his hand, like it did something to alleviate the pain. After a good while of pain, his hand finally didn't hurt that much anymore.

"God damn it..... So this is not a dream..." His first reaction was to panic, but then he suddenly remembered something that turned that panic into happiness.

"I'm in the Pokemon world right? That's incredible!! And this bag, maybe I'm in Pokemon Emerald?" Blake didn't even think about his old world and his family living there, maybe he forgot it because of the suddenness of the situation or maybe he is subconsciously making himself forget it.

"Wait a second...." He suddenly realized something he should have noticed from the beginning.

"D-Didn't I choose Girl....?" He said in a shaky voice, and looked at his own body.....

"ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE?????!!!!!!" He shouted even louder than when he hurt his hand, some birds got startled and flew out of their trees.

"How could I mess up like that.... F*cking Hell...." He was holding his head and panicking because of the situation.

"No... There is something more important, I have to choose my starter!!" Said Blake before breathing in and out slowly to calm himself down. He didn't notice it, but he was the type of guy that ignored stuff he couldn't mentally deal with.

He willed the screen to press [YES] and a huge amount of Pokemon icons appeared in his view, they had names beside them just like when he was choosing his avatar. Blake noticed a (i) icon and clicked it his mind. A screen with information about it appeared in his mind.

[Starter Pokemon Selection]

'The trainer can choose from a big variety of Pokemon, you can choose only the unevolved form of it, legendary Pokemon and those that could cause mass destruction from the start are not included. Pokemon that the trainer never saw are also not included. Be careful with the Pokemon you choose, you will be stuck with it for a while.'

"I can understand not being able to choose legendaries, but Pokemons I never saw aren't included? Damn, I didn't play Sun & Moon and Sword And Shield. No wait, that isn't that big of a problem, there's a lot of pokemons remaining." He now started to think about who he would choose. If this was a game or a dream he wouldn't even hesitate to choose Charmander.

"Charizard buddy..." He almost teared up remembering him. Charizard was the first pokemon he ever got, the first time he played Pokemon his Charizard was twenty levels ahead of every single other pokemon in his party. It was no exaggeration to say he completed the game with Charizard alone.

He even killed Articuno by accident with a single attack and he didn't save beforehand so he lost that legendary forever.... After that, he repeated the game many times and Charizard was always his starter, even when he played some unofficial pokemon games, he always selected Charizard if he was available. He lost the count of how many times he played with him.

"But this is not a game... I have to choose a Pokemon who can benefit me in some way..." Blake had a theory, so he decided to summon his buddy Charizard later with some hesitation. Even if the theory was wrong, he wouldn't lose out too much since that Pokemon was very good, some like it's evolved form even more than Charizard.

He pressed on the icon that was written [Riolu] with his mind, and a screen with a lot of values suddenly appeared.

"This.... IVs? Gender selection?" It was a screen with the Pokemon stats. It also had IVs written besides the base stats. There was the option to choose the Pokemon nature too, there was even a option of choosing it's gender and if the Pokemon was shiny or not.

"I can choose the IVs? Seriously?" Blake was overjoyed. In case you don't know, IVs are in a way the pokemon talent. Every pokemon of the same species has the same base stats, and they all have random IVs besides it, the max number for a IV is 31. A good example is a Pikachu with 31 Sp.Atk IVs will deal more damage than a Pikachu with 10 Sp.Akt IVs even if they are the same level.

A Pokemon with 31 IVs on every stat is basically the most talented of it's species, faster, stronger, and more resistant than every single one of it's counterparts. A perfect Charizard would be one with 31 Speed IVs and 31 Sp.Atk/Atk IVs with a Timid/Jolly nature.

Something with 31 IVs on everything and a perfect nature is ridiculous, the chance of running into something like this into the wild is 1 in 38 billion. What people do to get these is typically breeding them with the right parents, which makes the chance way higher, around 1 in 65000-1000000, which is still a ridiculous chance. You might as well use that luck on the lottery.

"Boy if this was a Pokemon game I would be banned for hacking." He laughed and put 31 in every IV, and now he needed to choose a nature for the Riolu.

"If this was the game, I would choose Adamant(+Atk/-Sp.Atk) for sure. But it's real life, what if it affects the Pokemon personality?" He didn't want a adamant Riolu, it probably would bring trouble.

"But the only other nature that fits Riolu best it's Naughty(+Atk/-Sp.Def).... No way in hell." Who knows what kind of messed up stuff this guy just thought about.

"Since it came to this, I will choose Brave(+Atk/-Speed), a brave companion would work." Anyone who played competitive Pokemon regularly would beat the shit out of him if they saw his choice. He is well aware of that.

He choose 'Male' as the Pokemon gender and selected 'No' in the [Shiny?] part of the screen. He didn't like Shiny Riolu, If it was something like a Rapidash he would select 'Yes' for sure.

He pressed [Okay] and confirmed his choice, the virtual screen disappeared and a ball-shaped light appeared in the air in front of him. After the light died down, a Pokeball appeared in its place and Blake caught it before it fell to the ground. He stared at the Pokeball blankly for a second because it literally materialized from nothingness, but he shook his head since even weirder things already happened today.

He pointed the Pokeball to the ground and tried to say to Riolu to get out of it with his will, and to his surprise, with red rays of light, a Riolu actually appeared in front of him!

"Riolu!!"

Riolu eagerly greeted his new master, and Blake was dumbfounded. He almost cried, He really is seeing a pokemon in front of him. Even with everything that just happened, seeing a pokemon with his own eyes is still different.

"Riolu?" Said Riolu after seeing his master wipe a small amount of tears from his eyes.

"It's nothing Riolu." Blake smiled and patted Riolu head. It also smiled and acted slightly like a dog being patted, the sight was very heart warming.

"Now..." Blake started to think about the real reason he choose Riolu over Charmander. He wanted to see if he had the potential to learn Aura.
