Chapter 51 - 51 Heartfyre

We all stare at the fire in silence, watching it until it finally goes out. Nothing is left of that cave of horrors. Numb, I climb onto Vanor's back and we take off, leaving that terrible place.

"Do you know you just used?" Vanor asks, snapping me out of my shock.

"No, what was that?" I ask. I have an idea that it's related to the Crimson Flame tribes bonding ceremony. But, I don't want to reveal tribe secrets, even to Vanor.

"Heartfyre, It's one of the Heavenly Flames. A mystical that can't be put out with ordinary means. Dragonkin gain Dragonfyre at the wyvern evolution. It's a fire that's aspected towards the elements our bloodline controls.

Take storm dragons, for example, our Dragonfyre has lightning and wind aspects within it. I believe you saw Rentil use a weakened version of it.

Heartfyre however, is created from the Heart of a mountain. After gaining sentience, and cultivating for thousands of years, the Heart creates a unique fire that has certain properties.

Yours it seems has the property of burning anything even stone. It seems uniquely suited for crafting and attacking" he explains, my mind shocked. Then I get annoyed no one told me that I could use it.

"What other Heavenly Flames are there?" I ask.

"I only know of two others for sure Demonfyre, High-level caste members are able to use it. They create a blackish-red flame that is fueled by their own blood.

As long as the demon has blood to burn, the flame cannot be put out. I also heard the humans have a Holyfyre they created. It apparently only burns demons, and beastkin. Humans can't be hurt by it"

"There's still so much I don't know, when I get back to the clan I definitely need to study more. The Heartfyre could have been extremely useful in a lot of situations" I think to myself.

We fly throughout the night before arriving back at the clan's mountain. I crawl back to my room, arriving I head over to the stack of books that are in the room.

Looking through them, I find one that says "Characteristics, and Histories of Known Heavenly Flames" By Thursten Oaken. Flipping through it, I find the chapter on Dragonfyre and read the introduction.

"Dragonfyre is the most diverse of the Heavenly Flames. Each Fyre is unique to the dragon who created it. A magma dragon, for example, might have a dragonfyre that burns at extreme temperatures and once it cools hardens encasing them in stone.

The older the dragon is the more powerful their dragonfyre is. Dragon gods are known to be able to destroy entire worlds with their Dragonfyre."

Awed by the potential power, I search through the Dragonfyre section until I come across a reference to storm dragons.

"Storm dragons are renowned for their particular Dragonfyre. In its complete form, it has destroyed entire worlds, however centuries ago a curse was put on the storm dragon lineage, taking away their ability to control water.

Without power over water, storm dragons no longer could create true storms, their Dragonfyre weakened greatly. Eventually, individuals found different ways to break the curse for them personally. However, to this day any dragonkin born with the storm dragon lineage has this curse.

Legend says that the original storm dragon was growing too powerful and after he destroyed two worlds that threatened his children, two of his siblings conspired with blood witches to create a bloodline curse that weakened him greatly. Legend says that he is hidden away, trying to find a way to break the curse and gain revenge"

Fascinated, I reread the passage. Resolved to look further into this, I then head to the section for Heartfyre. The introduction reads as follows.

"Heartfyre is the best suited for refining, and creating magical artifacts. No matter what powers it receives they always are beneficial in creating or improving artifacts.

Created in the Hearts of ancient mountains that spent countless centuries refining their Hearts until they become self-aware. They then share their Heartfyre with individuals that in exchange protect the mountain as it continues to cultivate.

It's not uncommon for tribes, and clans to form after making the bond with a mountain. With trusted individuals being given a bond with the Heart. The longer the bond is formed, the stronger, and more Heartfyre the individual can use"

Curious, I tried to sense that feeling I had felt when I released the Crimson Heartfyre. After several minutes of failing to sense it, I decide to see if I can use the bond and expand on that. Searching deeper into the bond than I ever have before, I get the sense of several people watching me when a voice calls out.

"Valoris? is that you?"

"Lord Mezal?" I ask surprised, From the wounds I had seen he should be in a deep sleep for at least another week.
