Our Hearts Beat For Anne

Chapter 2 - Worthless

Andrew's pov

I banged the door, heading down the stairs and toward my bike. My dad was at it again. Making me feel like the most useless human being that walked the earth.

"You don't have anything to offer to the world. Dancing! what is that? Rubbish! Complete balderdash. Your just hotheaded. Don't you think it's time to grow up and face your responsibilities...."blah blah blah. My dad had told me amongst other things.

It hurts so badly but I won't admit it to anyone. My only solution is to rebel, pretend

I won't do it when in reality I can't. Trust me, I' ve tried but its simply not my calling to be an engineer or anything book related.

Am simply not like my elder brother who loves education. My father's pride. He's everything am not except for good looks. We both have that. His quite reserved while am all over the place. Am light skin, his is darker. I love dressing stylishly while his the cooperate type partly cause of his discipline. We're just the opposite sides of a coin.

I love art. Music and dancing precisely. My mum and brother support me and are ready to back me up but my dad won't hear of it. He gets the last say in every important decision and when he says no, its no.

Am studying medicine in a federal university in my state and am supposed to be staying with my brother in his apartment because my dad doesn't think I can handle staying alone but I hardly stay there and my brother is cool with it, although he doesn't like me hanging with the bad crowd which I am. Its part of my rebellion and partly cause I love having fun. Partying, girls and stuffs like that.

My parents came to visit my brother and I today and unluckily for me, I was there and I got an earful from my dad that vexed me so much I had to leave.

I partied with my friends trying to drown my pain. We drank, grinded girls, had so much fun till the early hours of the morning.

Around 1am, I left the party with my friend Paul who was less inebriated. I had to leave my bike behind.

We walked down the road singing at the top of our lungs. I was going to sleep at Paul's.

"Hey Andrew." Paul whispered, "check her out." Paul had alway had a knack for the wild side. Doing drug, **** and stuffs like that. And tonight, with my dad's word going through my head, "you don' t have anything to offer to the world." over and over again, I snapped and did the unthinkable. "I'll show you dad."
