Analysis

(For now, let’s continue goblin hunting…… The question is, after all that’s done, what am I going to use as a leveling partner?)

Walking around the city and checking it out, the number of monsters appearing had increased even more.

Not only the bee and boar monsters that he had seen before, but now gray and black wolves and even carnivorous plants that grew ivy and preyed on humans seem to have appeared.

In the sky, huge winged monstrous birds with high-pitched cries flew around in circles as if claiming their territory, and even from a distance one could see them attacking any Self-Defense Force transport aircraft or TV station helicopters flying in the sky as soon as they were seen.

“Hmー……I suppose them.”

He mumbled to himself, thinking of the monsters he had identified.

Having fought goblins in his previous life, Akira had some idea of their strength.

However, he had no information on other monsters.

He considered repeating this loop by using his Return from Hell skill to take on monsters at random and return to death, but he was not willing to sell his life cheaply, no matter how much it might bring him back to life.

(I know the Return from Hell skill activates when I die, but I don’t even know if it will activate forever…… Considering what might happen if the Return from Hell is not triggered, it would be risky to go on a reckless rampage, wouldn’t it?)

Once again, Akira uttered his policy for using Return from Hell, as if to remind himself.

“Huhー…… The boars, the bees, the wolves, they all seem so strong. At the very least, I wish I knew how strong they were.”

Once you knew their strength, you would know which monsters to challenge next and which ones to be careful of.

As Akira pondered this thought, he suddenly remembered the existence of that skill.

(That’s right, the analysis skill! As I recall, that was a skill that allowed you to see information about your opponent, right?)

Apparently, there were differences in the information one could find out when using Analysis depending on skill level, but still, using the Analysis skill would be better than the current situation of not knowing anything.

(Besides, there may be many more monsters in the future. I need to know information about my opponent in order to fight and protect myself. I’d like to save up some points to increase my physical strengthening skill level, but …………I guess it’s just the way it is.)

Musing this in his mind, Akira convinced himself that he was right.

“Status.”

 The status screen was displayed.

He then touched the earned points text on the screen, selected a new skill from the point allocation screen, and gave permission to acquire the Analysis skill.

 ――――――――――――――――――

Skill: Analysis Lv1 has been acquired.

 ――――――――――――――――――

A screen was displayed informing him of the acquisition of the skill.

When Akira confirmed this, he turned off all screens and looked around to test his newly acquired skill.

Then he saw a goblin corpse lying on the ground.

(Corpses are also included in the biological category, at least in part……right?)

If this didn’t work, he would just look for a live goblin.

With that thought in mind, he caught sight of the goblin, who had already expired, and uttered the words.

“I’ll give it a try, then. ――――Analysis! “

 ――In an instant.

A light sound echoed, and a screen appeared over the dead goblin.

 Goblin Lv3

 Stamina:12

 Strength:10

 Endurance:10

 Speed:5

 Magical power:2

 Luck:1

 ――――――――――――――――――

Individual information: Cannot be displayed due to insufficient level

 ――――――――――――――――――

Possessed skills: Cannot be displayed due to insufficient level

“Ohh…… It came out.”

Akira let his words trail off when he saw the screen displayed.

Then, he carefully looked through that screen.

(Let’s see……Stamina of 12!? So that’s why these guys don’t die so easily. ――Wait, what about me…… Without the physical strengthening and increased values due to trophies, I’m at level 7 overall, but my status items wouldn’t be that much different from a level 3 goblin across the board.)

Was he that weak himself? Or were the monsters stronger?

 ――Probably both. Akira thought.

(Hmー…… next is………… Luck seems to be my only saving grace. Also, the fact that the goblins have a Magical power entry is kind of expected of a monster. The screen after that is……Oh, I see. I can see the individual information and the skills possessed by the opponent here by raising the level.)

 Akira pondered.

The number of points earned required to upgrade the skill level of physical strengthening was 20.

Most likely, though, this analysis skill would require the same points as physical strengthening to take it to the next level.

“I’ll take a look at it just to be sure.”

Muttering, Akira again called up his own status screen and touched the new word Analysis listed in the skills section of the screen.

 ――――――――――――――――――

 Analysis Lv1

 ・Active skill.

・Effective only against living organisms. It is possible to visualize detailed information about the organisms. The information that can be visualized depends on the skill level.

Do you want to spend 5 earned points to increase your skill level? Y/N

 ――――――――――――――――――

(You need fewer points to take it to the next level than I thought. But you’ll need five of them.)

If it required fewer points than physical strengthening, he could continue to accumulate 5 points and try to raise the level of Analysis.

Akira thought about that, but quickly shook his head and dismissed his idea.

Once Analysis reached level 2, the next section to be visible would be the Individual Information section.

It was not clear what the individual information displayed was about, but even at the current skill level, he could see the level and status entries of his opponents. That was enough.

I’d like to accumulate points to raise the level of physical strengthening, so I’ll wait to raise the level of Analysis until I can afford to do so.”

With that, Akira turned off his status screen again.

Then quickly switched his thoughts. Akira fell silent and let the screen burn into his eyes, trying to remember the stats of the goblins he was comparing to in order to determine his next leveling partner.
