One More Step

''Report. Why was no news about the girls for a long time?''

''Sigh. It was a hard winter time. We almost froze while the two girls choose to play, eat, sleep and make some toys.''

''Toys?''

''Yes. They plan to sell the idea and with that money, they plan to support some refugees in the name of a foreign village. Arent, they go too far. Some credit is not a bad thing.''

''Not in their cases. If they were in normal town all that hiding would not make sense. But where royals lived and millions of snakes were gathered together, they have to be careful about every single thing they do. Smart girls.''

''I am saying only because they did the same thing when refugees came.''

''What are you talking about?''

''Didn't you get winter report?''

''I did, but wait...winter report. I didn't get it. I will find out what happened with that. Tell me in short words.''

''When there was a flood and then winter came, refugees arrived at the capital. Do you remember all that food that they gathered? They used it all for those refugees, in name of the foreign village and almost got deadly sick because of that.''

''Didn't I send you to save them in case of extreme danger? What did actually happen?''

''We can help only if there are external causes, but this time they did it themselves. They went to the capital and for over thirty days straight cooked for the refugees. On the end their bodies got sick and both fainted. They almost as well spent all the food they have left. Luckily they have gathered some more of the food and have a greenhouse where they have fresh fruits and vegetables the whole winter. It was nice to look at.''

''Greenhouse? Did they get such an idea? I am impressed. I need to report all this to elders. Unfortunately, they still have two more years to b.a.r.e before we can come to train them.''

''Yyyyou will come? Ahhh, don't joke sir. If you come the girls might straight run to the palace and join their ranks in fear.''

''What are you talking about. I am lovable. That is what my granddaughter said. She never lies.''

''Sir. These girls are different...'' But the connection was cut off and the two men just sighed.

''If he comes, this place will turn in the playground. Poor girls.''

A sigh came from another man's mouth.

''I think it is possible for the two to stop him in that case. They do seem docile but their way of handling things is a bit over the brain of teen girls.''

''We shall see. Who is more stubborn, him or them...''

The two girls were startled when they entered their garden after a long time. Before winter Kyra used dried grass and wheat stalks to cover the fields and planted a different kind of plants inside to see if they can use that way to plant vegetables.

What they didn't expect was to find many young plants grown slowly from the ground. Potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, onions, salads, and even tiny stalks of other vegetables could be seen.

Actually they saw some sporadic green spot but didn't look closely as it was still too cold too and they felt the plants would fie by such temperatures. Who would have thought that this situation would occur?

Kyra felt that whether was changing and becoming warmer. So she planted many vegetable seeds in planters and had already small plants waiting their time for replanting.

But seeing the lush green color in their garden she hot a new idea. "Anna, what about taking our new plants to our place and planting it there? We need to check on animals there anyway."

Anna felt stuffy anyway these days. "Let's pack everything today so we can go there tomorrow. Our horses need some movement as well. They are feeling stuffed as well. Should we take chickens and rabbits in yard cage and pigs in the forest? I think its time for them to be outside. "

It is getting warmer by the day. And animals felt the change as well. Being in one close place whole winter was more than enough stress for them. So they did that. Slowly they took the rabbits into the big rabbit cage in the garden, the chicken into their coop and then slowly took out the big pig and her piglets to the outside stall, near the forest where they had a bunch of space and dry house with staw when they wanted to be warm and cozy.

The piglets rushed around excitedly as they had now a whole lot of space while the two older pigs just grunted and started rowing the earth for delicacies. They liked it outside after all more.

The girls cleaned the big barn completely and then washed themselves. After so much time they finally can travel again. The garden still didn't need their assistance and animals will be fed as they left enough food inside. Kyra looked at all those big and small rabbits running inside the rabbit house and sighed. Or they make a bigger house or they discard a few rabbits. But the second idea made more sense.

Or should they just sell them? They were too few to sell them to restaurants. Anna saw her conflicted expression and chuckled. ''You can think about it when we are back. We won't stay there anyway too long. We need to check more hills for wild fruits and this time we will ride horses as it is faster that way.'' She liked riding horses.

Now she has bow and arrows and wanted to go hunting, but it was the season of young animals and she couldn't do it yet. But at least they could find fruit trees and bushes. She really wanted to find wild strawberries. They are not big but their smell was amazing. From seeds, they got not even one worked so they had to find wild ones.

Kyra knew Anna's wish. Fruit trough summer. They already ordered at Simon's store more ice and he already brought it. So this summer she plans to make some crushed ice and add fruits or fruit juices to add flavor. That would be a perfect summer treat.

Too bad, she can't give anything to those two outside. She sighed and laid down in her bed. They must have had a long and cold winter. Didn't they?
