One More Step

Chapter 1 - 1. The cause

''Grandfather, listen to me please, I really have no wish to marry that mess of a woman. I have no idea how you got that crazy idea to let her enter our household. She is totally bananas.''

A young man stood in the living room of a big mansion and motioned at his head with his fingers. In front of him sat an old man with a long white beard and shook his head.

''There is no problem with her. She is just a bit wild. You do not understand her past.'' He sighed deeply while remembering what happened to Kyra Kazis when she was just a small child.

''I don't care, really! In this lifetime I will marry only Tricia. She is already pregnant, do you want your great-grandchild to live to be raised outside the family?''

''Don't spout nonsense!!! If that child is truly yours, Kyra promises to accept him and adopt him. Like that he will be under our name, but that chick will never be included in this household. If you really plan to marry her, you can definitely forget your inheritance. I have no wish to leave my money in her hands. Our Alence family will not have some dirty p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.e in our genealogy. I asked her so many times to leave that place, even gave her a bunch of money but she still runs that place. It is disgusting!'' Alec Alence started getting red out of anger. This grandson of his will give him a headache as it seems.

''Grandfather, Tricia is just running night club. It is not what you think.'' Marcel Alence sat down and shook his head and then desperately smiled at the old man sitting across the table.

Tricia Ceci was his big love. He met her two years ago when she was running away from some men. The moment he saw her beautiful face he was at first stunned, but then seeing her predicament he beat them up and helped her going home. Later he found out she works at a night club as a waitress and when she planned to go home those people followed her. She got scared and run away. Later he bought that club under her sweet persuasion and gave it to her. Luckily grandfather doesn't know about that, or he would beat him to death.

''She is just owner of it. And she is doing a good job. I was there and trust me, the place is not as messy as you think. But Kyra... That woman is crazy, seriously. Last time she broke two ribs when one of my friends played a joke on her.'' He tried to slowly persuade his grandfather that stared at him with cold eyes.

The old man chuckled coldly. ''Joke? Do you call that joke? She walked and he jumped from bushes at her...N.A.K.E.D! What do you think she should have done? Embrace him? Laugh? Or maybe sit there and start crying? You must be kidding, after all the things that happened to her, you think she would just sit still and just let it happen? Hell, if I were there at that moment, I would have joined in and broke a few more. Maybe his limbs and his manhood would have been ripped off by me...''

Cold sweat started gathering on Marcel's back. Not many people knew, but Alec is not a nice little elder as many people thought of him. He was general of the most secret army in the world. Those that died under his hands were countless. If his grandfather was at that moment there with Kyra, Paul's life would be gone, painfully. He must call his fiend and warn him to run to another country. Knowing this stubborn old man, he might really go to his house and break his bones.

Alec saw his stiff expression and smiled brightly. ''I will not break him now. Kyra begged me not to touch him, for your sake. But Marcel, you must know one thing, not everything is at it seems. Be careful around that woman, she is a viper, I'm telling you. Warn your friends not to touch even strand on Kyra's head or they might just disappear. I will not warn them the second time, you know me good enough...''

Marcel smiled weakly as he nodded and took his phone out. ''I will let them all know. Right now...''

---To all my dear friends. From today on Kyra, is officially under my grandfather's protection. If you plan to harm her in any kind of manner, don't. He will not forgive. This is code red warning.---

He sent that message to all his friends, not knowing that it was already too late. She was already dying in the moist cellar.

Beautiful woman with long red curls walked slowly in front of a woman who was bound on chair and was breathing heavy. ''Kyra Kazis... Hahhahaha. You are truly a fool. The Kazis family is gone and was overtaken by the Alence family. Now they will die as well soon and will be overtaken by the Gerber family. And you as the last descendant of your family will die here. Slowly...''

Kyra stared at her and spat on her white shoes. The velvet shoes stained by red spit looked like a blooming rose. She always liked flowers, so much that she bought a small apartment with a huge balcony only to have a variety of flowers, fruits and vegetables planted on it. At this time she felt a big grudge against this woman. Her poor plants will die if she doesn't tend them. Her fist tomatoes are about to become ripe, but now she will die.

She rose her beautiful bernstein eyes toward the woman and smiled slightly. ''I have no idea what grudge you have against our families. I am about to die, can't you let Alec and Marcel off, please. They are the last descendants.''

Tricia was planning to let her go peacefully, but when she stained her expensive shoes with her bloody spit, her anger rose. Her eyes darted around the room and her sight fell on a certain item near her bag in corner of the room. She walked gracefully towards the old metal rod and walked back while making screeching noise at the floor.

Kyra turned her head and when she saw the size of the rod she already knew that her ending was near. Her heart jumped wildly while she already felt dizzy. The drug she got from Tricia hit her fully and as the last drops of her blood fell on the floor her soul already left her body and saw how Tricia menacingly smashed her dead body over and over again like a crazy woman.

She saw suddenly door getting open and many soldiers storming in while pointing their guns at terrified Tricia. This was her last assignment as an undercover cop. Her promise to Alec Alence that she would be marrying her son made her resign. Luckily she had everything already on hidden camera. It is better that way. After so many years of fights, she knew already that she couldn't have children and got even deathly ailment. She never went to check herself and when she found out she was already in the last stage of b.r.e.a.s.t cancer.

She already left her last words to Alec. Her findings showed her that Alec is really not the reason her parents died. It was the Gerber family that did all evil. They even kidnapped her when she was a child and sold her to one of those slave chains. Unfortunately for them, she was by chance saved by Alec and trained as a soldier at first. But, not long ago, he found out her real background and tried everything to repay her for her lost childhood.

''If I knew that buying the majority of your shares would destroy completely your family, I wouldn't have done that. At that moment I just found your company interesting so I bought all the shares that could be bought. I am sorry my child. '' He even wanted to kneel in front of her. She stopped him and then when he hugged her body, for the first time she felt loved, safe and free.

''Alec, I never would resent you. I don't think that you buying the shares killed my parents. If you want to help me, find a true perpetrator.'' He patted her head as he chocked on words.

''I promise I will. It will take some time but I promise, I am going to find and kill them.'' But seeing her shaking her head he sighed. He was about to persuade her but her next words stopped him.

''If we find them and I am still alive, let me handle them. If there is no more me, I am sure you will have your fun, right?'' Her golden eyes sparkled as she stared at him.

He rose his head and looked at the dark sky and twinkling stars. ''I wish you could just let me do it.''

She looked as well at the sky. ''Just in case something happens to me, can you make it double painful. For me as well?''

Alec Alence stared at her dead body and remembered her words. He already had an autopsy report and he knew at that time that she was actually dying, so she just wanted to make sure they pay for everything they did. His eyes became cold as an icy smile appeared on his lips. ''I will revenge you, I promise.'' He looked at Marcel with cold eyes and turned toward the exit.

He could hear his grandson calling for mercy for Tricia and his son, but his heart was cold, so cold like long no more. The colder his heart was, the greater fury gathered in his c.h.e.s.t. He suddenly could feel his heart beating fast and he just fell down under the cry of his grandson.

Marcus buried his grandfather and Kyra on the same day. He didn't know why they were dead set on harming Tricia until he got a final report from grandfather subordinates. His hear became cold as further he read. The club was just one of the centers in the humongous slavery ring. His grandfather warned him, over and over again, but he wouldn't listen. Then he read the report about Kyra and Kazis family and realized that she was not a crazy woman, she was just one of the children that escaped.

If he knew that earlier. He red report about Tricia as well and his heart turned this time really into ice. She was sent to kill them all because of their properties. With such a big company, they could hide such dirty deeds for a long time. Their plan was to kill them both. Grandfather should die something like an aging death and he would have an accident. Even the child was probably not his. Grandfather found out that she was having another two men she was seeing next to him.

He will let that child live as it is not its fault about the mother. Even if he is not his own blood he will adopt him. But that woman can't live peacefully from now on. At that moment he had a big similarity with his own grandfather. The icy smile and coldness started surging out of him that even the begotten soldiers stepped back from him.

The feeling of the king of death was the same as his grandfather's. The new general will rise as it seems.

''Scary, just like his grandfather. Truly scary.'' The whispers in the silent room resounded more that it was spoken aloud.

''Let her just survive until the child is born. After that, dispose of her however you wish. That woman will wish never meeting me. '' His cold voice echoed as last vapors of Kyra's soul evaporated from this world...
