Once Upon A Star

Chapter 21 - Child's Play (part 5)

Huang Biyu paid no attention to their ridiculing stares. Already used to such treatment, she was not as s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e as she was many years ago. Moreover, she never really cared for socialite circles. They were fickle and shifted sides based on self merit, so there was no need to get angry at these pathetic sheep. When she thought of that disgusting video, she became so enraged that her nails cut into the skin of her palms. She knew who did this. For years, she watched as Yang He treated her children like pariahs. No mother would willingly abandon her child unless they had a good reason. What was Yang He hiding? No matter, it is still cruel to treat a young child as she has, and now...

Huang Biyu cast a repulsed look at Yang He. "Will you not even spare your own flesh and blood?"

Yang He's eyes were raining down tears. She looked aghast and dropped her face into her hands. Upon seeing this, the other ladies, especially Mo Ru, felt protective over the gentle Madam Yuan and berated Huang Biyu.

"Huang Biyu, how dare you! Can't you see that Madam Yuan is in shock? I've always said that people have misunderstood you, but I'm disgusted to know that you were such a person! How could you blame the Madam for this? You are the one who raised Yuan Xue, shouldn't you know how he came out to be such a man whore?!" Mo Ru snapped back harshly.

The commotion in the ladies area was heard by the men, who turned around to see what the problem was. Yuan Xue was in the middle of discussing a topic with his father's old friend when he began to receive odd stares from the people around him. The whispers grew louder and Yuan Xue made out most of it. His military training didn't allow him to show emotions. He kept a poker face even though his heart was breaking beneath his facade. Why? Why did she have to do this to him? Was it not enough that she neglected him all those years? What more did she want?

Yuan Xue bit his lip until he tasted blood. His heart had been played with by that woman for many years. It was riddled with numerous scars, some deep and some shallow, but they hurt all the same. He understood well now and let go of that tiny hope he unknowingly held in a secret part of his heart. He let go of his naive wishful thinking that he and Yuan Chang will get their mother back. Huang Biyu was more of a mother figure anyways. The crowd closed in on Yuan Xue, who zeroed in on Yang He sobbing. Their eyes met, his fueled by the flames of betrayal and something flashed in the woman's eyes at this sight. They broke off contact, Yuan Xue left to deal with the aftermath. No more. She was not his mother. It was at this summit that Yuan Xue recognised Yang He as a stranger, a decision he would surely come to regret later on.

Everyone who Yuan Xue had just greeted turned their backs on him and laughed. Some depraved souls clapped and congratulated him for the good work. All in all, it was a humiliating situation to be in. Yuan Min was having the greatest time of his life. He stood by and watched as they taunted Yuan Xue as unworthy of his status as heir.

"Yuan Xue, what you did was shameless. How could you do such a thing?"

"Xue, I thought wrongly about you. Is this how your Yuan family taught you? Look at your mother, the poor woman is devasted!"

"Haha, this is the end of Yuan Xue. I never liked his snotty, righteous behavior. Seems like it was all an act. Serves him right!"

Yuan Guang and Elder Rong's prescense silenced the onlookers and the crowd parted for them. Wang Jiao couldn't help but whip a snide remark at the Yuan family's current situation.

"Yuan Guang, your son is really something! Even my son can't compare. I admit defeat." The crowd laughed with him.

Before either of the Yuan males could retort, another voice cut in. "I didn't know that your son was that brilliant. Wang Da is only so-so next our Song family sons and even more so, the Yuan family predecessors!" An old man with a wooden stick wearing traditional Chinese clothing came into view with a middle aged man at his back, followed by a younger man in his twenties.

Wang Jiao narrowed his eyes at this public display of dominance and snorted. "Old man Biming, no matter what you say, Yuan Xue is in the wrong. He instigated the murder of an innocent woman! Should you be defending a criminal? Just because you're buddies with Yuan Rong, does not mean they can get away with this."

Song Biming struck his cane and glared at him fiercely. "It is not up to you to decide who is a criminal. You are not a judge, nor a jury so please, F.U.C.K OFF." Many were quiet used to the elder's vulgar speech and didn't mind much. The rich business men and smaller elite families cheered on and waited for the fight to escalate.

In light of this, Yang He was wondering where the reporters were. 'They should have been let in by now.'
