New World's Empress

Liu Mei didn't care about anything. She already had everything she needs with her. If Lord Liu and Hua Lan want to send her money she will carefully storage them in her space. But for now, let's see what is awaiting her.

She was not a little girl that had no idea what will happen. But she felt no fear. Her husband has given up on her long time ago. But she still shared the same bed with him. Even tho they didn't did ''that'' for a long time, she felt it is nothing. Just bear with it until it's finished and then continue living your own life.

After all the disappointments she had with her ex-husband, the new one might be the same or worse. But as long she can break the damn circle that would harm her children, she was ready to do it. She would do anything to help them. For her children always.

But if she gets his child what will happen to that child when she leaves? Her mind was completely busy with all possible and impossible questions when she heard Xiao Ran's voice. ''My lady, we are here. Please descend.''

She hummed in response and slowly the palanquin door opened and a hand reached in to help her out. In the end, the old servant came with her as well. So seeing her strong hand through the opening it made her worried heart calm down.

''My lady, I will help you.'' Her soft hand held the old woman's hand and she slowly stepped out. First under it was the bright sun that blinded her. Even if she had the hat the sunshine passed the see through material and was not completely protecting her eyes. She sighed if she could have brought her sun eyeglasses, wouldn't that be fun.

As her eyes got used to the brightness she could see that everyone squinted. The sun was just too poisonous. ''Everyone, let's hurry up and get ourselves under some shade. This sun is too strong.''

Her worried voice came to their ears and they felt gratitude. Not all young ladies are so benevolent as she is.

''Stop right there!'' A shrill voice came from behind and startled her. As she turned around under her eyes appeared a young woman in her late teens. Is Emperor some sort of pedophile?

The young woman approached her with elegant but quick steps and only when she came closer she realized how strange the girl's attire is.

''Uhm, do I know you? Are you from another country?'' Her words stunned silent the girl that weirdly stared at her simple clothes.

''You look more like a foreigner than I do. These clothes are normal in this country for higher nobles. But looking at those clothes... are you commoner?'' Her disgusted expression made Xiao Ran furious.

''Our miss is Liu Clan's daughter. Her brother is a high official. Do not look down on her miss Roulan Hou. Your father is not even from the main branch. Think twice before opening your mouth.'' She supported Liu Mei's hand and strode away as the young woman stood there with a pale complexion.

''Did that servant just snap at me? How dare she? So what if she is from the main line of Liu's family. They were convicted by the last Emperor and have nothing on their own. Look she didn't even bring her dowry. Poor is poor, no matter how you look at it.'' With a wave of the hand, she huffed and started walking towards the main hall where they were escorted by palace maids.

Most maids already knew Xiao Ran and under her cold eyes stepped on sides to show respect to this gracious walking woman that strode with straight back straight to the main hall as well.

Behind them were many other females from different families and already knew that something is amiss as no one reproached the young child that was going with that woman that had hat covered her head and face.

One pretty young woman pointed at her back and whispered to her friend that joined as well palace. ''Isn't that the widow that shaved her head for people's sake. Somehow I feel fear as I think of that. She was ruthless even to herself, how ruthless will she become if she gains Empress position?''

A melodious voice came behind them and they saw the most beautiful woman that they ever met in their life. She had a l.u.s.trous pearly white face, lush red lips, long eyelashes big eyes, small nose and she had absolutely no makeup on her face. ''Do you think someone simple like her can even think about such a thing. From everything I know she joined here because the same old monk told her she had to join the palace if she wants her children and family to be in peace in another world. I do not think she will be bothered much with worldly matters. Most of the time she likes to pray and be in seclusion. If there was not that prophecy I heard she wanted to join the convent and stay there as a female monk. But be warned. Liu's family is an old noble family. If anyone bothers her they will gain rage not only from one family, then from all old nobles. Between all of us, she has the noblest standing and at the same time most humble. From this day on I declare her my cousin as well and she will be under my family protection as well. This is my first and last warning.''

Her face became cold as ice and she passed the whole line of stunned young women. When she was further away the young woman who was talking to her friend looked at her questioningly. ''Who is she?''

''She is Hua Roulan. The second branch from Hua family.'' Everyone knew that the Hua family was full of warrior males and females so coldness enveloped their small hearts.

''But what is going on there then? How is the Hua family connected to her?'' She stubbornly stomped her feet in jealousy.

A young woman behind slowly approached and politely bowed. ''My name is Ning Xiaoqing. Miss Hua is related to trough Mis Liu's brother. He is married to Lady Hua Lan. You heard about her?'

Everyone started shaking. Now more female attendees listened to their words. ''Is Miss Liu Mei really so powerful?''

Ning Xiaoqing nodded as she gave a long gaze at the faraway people that almost disappeared behind doors towards Main Hall. ''You should all understand one thing. She is a small rabbit, but if you attack a small rabbit it will turn into something scary. For now, she is the best possibility of becoming Empress. She has a big benevolent heart, her family is not interested in power and she is not a greedy person. Miss Hua Roulan is right, we better not turn chicken into a phoenix, or we might get burned.''

The young women shook. After all, they were just young women that lived their lives in a protected environment. Listening to these words it seems like the palace is a battlefield, not a place where they could live normally.
