New World: The Rise Of Meruem

Chapter 4 - New residence

"How can there be an Intecqus born before the King or any of the royal guards?"

stated a man wearing thick robes, he looked clean with four large spider-like eyes, with two at the center of his face with the other two to the side and slightly above. And on top of his head lied with two large horns curved upward, he had high cheekbones that gave his insect head a nearly human appearance. His mouth also resembled an insect. Behind him stood a man with a similar appearance but he didn't have the high cheekbones of the man dressed in thick robes.

"Excuse me sorry for interrupting your conversation but I'm wondering do you have an empty room that I can reside in."

As I said this the two men stopped whispering and looked me up and down, their faces soon twisted up into smiles. It was clear as day that they believed me to either be weak which would explain why I was born earlier than the king, also I guess they believed me to be an example of what all the other Intecqus of my generation will look like. This thought seemed to put a smile on their faces.

The large man with the thick robe walked over and touched my wings as though he never saw anything like it before. He quickly stopped when he noticed my large tail, that carried with it a menacing aura warning all those near it to be wary, for death looms about. After taking a few steps back he looked up at the king and once again smiled as though he knew the king would be amazing.

"Why do you have wings?"

shouted a man also wearing a robe though thinner than the other man. He pointed out one of his three fingers at me. From his facial expression and demeanor, I could tell the man was scared. I gave a loud sigh which seemed to put both of them on edge.

"To ask me why I have wings is beyond a ridiculous question. You should instead go ask the queen what she ate. Though I doubt she'd be inclined to allow you to live after such a ridiculous question"

I said growing irritated with both men. His face twisted up into a one of anger and bottled up frustration. It was clear he wanted to strike me but there was something holding him back, not anything physical no this was more psychological. After starring at me for some time the two men proceeded to look at one another. Then back at me, the one wearing the thinner robe walked towards me, "Is this his attempts at a threat?" I wondered, how do thee Intecqus threaten one another?

"Listen here newborn, you may have been born before the king but don't be so foolish as to think your strong. Also don't ever speak that way to your superiors."

There couldn't be a better chance than this, to fight someone who it appears can't kill me. It is an opportunity beyond anything I could hope for. My tail began slithering as though possessed by all my d.e.s.i.r.e to kill the person who stood before me. I could practically hear the pulsing of his blood; it rang in my ear urging me to feast upon him. Though a part of me knew this wasn't natural.

"your threat was childish and lacking what id like to call weight"

I said this while my tail smacked him across the face, it was clear that if not for the intervention of the man who appeared to have on thicker clothes. I would have taken the head off this man dressed in light robes.

"Your arm is broken…. Well shattered is the proper wording. But why did you save the fool beside you."

"The queen will be more than pleased with the news of your birth…. Hahaha but as for why I saved him. I need no more reason than the fact that he is an Intecqus like myself and you. Here eat it appears like you are like the king and have a reliance on blood."

He handed me a large sack of blood, it's not as though I cared much for it. I've already decided to not be a slave to my d.e.s.i.r.e. But I still took it and decided that it could be of use later on whenever I'm hungry.

"Eat please it will help satiate your hunger"

"Thank you but I'm not currently hungry. Also, as I stated before I will be needing an empty room."

The man who I struck across the face, pushed past the man wearing the thicker robe and while rubbing his cheek, gave me a stare filled with anger and contempt. It was odd he clearly feared me but its as though he too believed that I wouldn't kill him, or well couldn't.

"We don't just give rooms to any newborn, and like I said learn how to speak to your elders."

Shouted the man with the thinner robe. His voice sounded feral and filled with arrogance. I choose to pay him no mind seeing as he really wasn't anyone I needed to worry about.

"Tell me you with the thicker robes on what is your name?."

waited sometime before answering me, it was clear he too was surprised by my behavior. but he appears to be smarter than his thinly dressed friend.

"I'm known as Viticus. Worry not for you will be given a name by the queen or king whenever the time comes. Seeing as you're the firstborn of your generation."

"well, Viticus I've waited for long enough take me to a proper room seeing as no one else appears to be waking up quite yet."

He spoke no more after that point and instead just lead the way for me. The man with the thinner robe just stood there in aww as though he didn't understand why he'd been mistreated to such an extent by someone so much younger than himself. As we exited the birthing chambers, we walked up a long flight of steps. Filled with guards at every twist and turn.

Most of them had extremely large bodies, I didn't even reach to the knees of most. each held a large spear-shaped weapon, though the blade end was curved making it more a slashing weapon than anything else.

But while we went up a few flights of stairs we turned into a hallway that seemed to be layered with flames, though they looked completely different I could tell they served a similar purpose to torches.

"This room will be yours for now. But don't get too used to it seeing as... where are you going?"

Screamed Viticus as he saw me walk right past the room, he deemed fit for me. I wouldn't say the room was bad, but I also wouldn't say it was good either. It's funny it perfectly describes how Viticus views me. I walked for a while until I reached a room that was quite large and seemed empty.

"This will be my room"

I said in a cold voice. When I said this a guard with strange stone-like capsules walked over to me and handed one of them to me. Before Viticus could inform the man that I wasn't the king I used the capsule to open the door. The room was plain and barren of any signs of someone ever living here. The wall-like everywhere else in this place appeared to have been carved out of the dirt.

[Host has laid claim to a domain]

Oh, so the system deems this to be my domain, as I focused my hearing on the capsule in my hand it appears that whatever was inside was no longer there. "Strange," I thought while walking around and touching the walls. After some time I grew tired of that and decided that this was good enough for now, it appeared that Viticus was talking to the guard that gave me the capsule. I had interrupted their conversation telling Viticus.

"I believe that after some clothes are made for me. I will go and introduce myself to my fellow Intecqus. I believe they will be more than pleased to gaze upon the newest generation."

As I said this the look on Viticus face was everything I knew it would be. See I figured that since Viticus took such amazement at me that he'd want to show me around to everyone.

To have them gaze in amazement at what he believed the next generation would look like. And I said clothes because now he has a goal to work towards and a makeshift promise that if he completes said goal, he gains what he wants. So then, of course, he did as I expected him to and hurried off.

While running off he yells that I should stay here and that he'd go and get the tailors for me. The guard gave me a look filled with amazement then returned and the man with the lighter robe simply walked off. "Alone at last," I thought.

I sat on my tail for a while contemplating what I should do with this newly acquired privacy. After some time, I decided that to practice my bone molding skill, after that was done, I forced my done to come out of the palm then made it into a sword shape and began practice swinging a sword. This would go on for hours seeing as Viticus wasn't within my hearing range. Though that didn't bother me seeing as it gave me time to practice.
