Chapter 18 – Men Are All Waste After Thirty

It was early morning on the first day after their marriage.

According to the script in idol dramas, the male and female leads should either be lying in bed because they were too “tired” or be in the kitchen where the male lead was hugging the female lead from behind as they cooked a delicious breakfast together…

However, back to reality. It was after seven o’clock in the morning and the kitchen was indeed cooking up a breakfast, but no one was seen.

Yan Lin was sitting in front of the computer in the study. He was wearing a Bluetooth headset and holding a remote video conference with his employees.

And as for Zu Jin, she got up really late. She rushed out of the bathroom wrapped in a bath towel, and after quickly changing into clothes, she took her bag and ran downstairs.

When she passed by the study’s entrance, the two of them looked at each other. Zu Jin didn’t say anything when she saw him having a meeting, but made a gesture.

Yan Lin nodded, and Zu Jin instantly disappeared from the study’s entrance.

The flustered look of his wife was really funny. Yan Lin was talking about serious things in a meeting, but he was unable to control the corners of his mouth from suddenly rising.

Zu Jin reached the kitchen, gulped down a large cup of warm milk in a few mouthfuls, and stuffed a croissant into her mouth before leaving.

The car reached Qiyu. She pretty much arrived at work when it was about to start and went into the elevator.

Xia Tong had been waiting for her at the elevator entrance for a long time, and immediately followed her with the meeting materials when she came out.

“President Jin, engineer Wang and the others all had things to do this morning, so they started first.”

Zu Jin took off her coat and passed her bag to Xia Tong. Then, she took the meeting materials.

“How long has it been since they started?”

“…It’s been almost half an hour.”

When Zu Jin was working, she was like a female monster possessed by Zhou the exploiter1.

In order to create room for more time every day, meetings were held almost half an hour ahead of schedule. It was done that way so there would be more time that could be squeezed out to deal with other official duties.

As a result, the management leaders had been accustomed to her work patterns for a long time.

However, Zu Jin ended up being late today.

The moment she opened the door of the meeting room, Zu Jin felt like a criminal being paraded through the market.

She couldn’t help but sigh in her heart: Love really is an obstacle in my career!

However, thinking like this on the first day of marriage seemed a bit inappropriate…

After the meeting, she returned to the president’s office. Zu Jin was dealing with business documents when she found herself thinking too much about things.

When was the last time my great aunt came? I didn’t have a flash marriage and then a flash pregnancy, right? Should I buy a test when I get off work today?

What is Yan Lin doing at home? How is my villa being decorated right now?

Anyways, I can’t concentrate on work!

Zu Jin put down the pen and gloomily scratched her head. She simply gave up on continuing her work.

She called Xia Tong in. “Reserve a nearby restaurant for me. I’m going out to eat and will come back at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.”

After speaking, she took her bag and left.

After Zu Jin left Qiyu, she called Yan Lin first.

“Where are you?”

Yan Lin chuckled softly, “You’re not coming back for lunch, are you?”

Zu Jin cleared her throat. “Well, it’s too much trouble to go back. I’ll figure out lunch outside.”

“Okay, then I’ll eat it myself.”

She called another number after hanging up. This time it was her best friend, Liu Wei.

Half an hour later, Liu Wei appeared in front of her.

“What’s the secret that you have to call me out to tell me?”

Zu Jin coughed. “I’m married.”

“Married?” Liu Wei repeated. Suddenly, her eyes widened after three seconds. “What?! You are married?!”

Zu Jin blinked at her to confirm.

“Uh-huh. I got married yesterday.”

Liu Wei asked in disbelief, “With that boss from Chloe?”

“Yes, yesterday we met with both parents, and then we passed by the Bureau of Civil Affairs. We registered and received the certificate. After receiving the certificate, we signed the prenuptial agreement.”

Liu Wei trembled and gave a thumbs up. “Too strong. You can’t lose being the boss, and your ability to act is quick.”

When the food was ready, they began to move their chopsticks.

But after taking a few bites, Liu Wei suddenly asked, “By the way, how old is your husband?”

“36.”

Liu Wei turned her head and looked around, then lowered her voice, “Then how is his performance in that aspect? Men are all waste after 30, especially after 35. If that aspect fails, I’m telling you now to not endure it, and it is still not too late to leave.”

Zu Jin couldn’t help but smile and asked, “You mean, your husband…?”

Liu Wei sighed unhappily. “We have been married for so many years, and now we sleep together like brothers sharing a bunk bed. It doesn’t matter whether he can do it or not.”

“Yan Lin…cough is good.” Zu Jin’s cheeks reddened with shame.

It was natural for two mature women in their 30s to sit together and discuss this difficult topic seriously.

But just when Zu Jin was having fun with the conversation, she suddenly saw a familiar figure from her peripheral vision.

And the figure seemed to be walking towards her.

Ji Shiyu aggressively sat down next to Liu Wei. Afterwards, she took off her sunglasses and threw them on the table.

She folded her arms and coldly said, “You gave me a letter of no accountability.”

Zu Jin took a sip of tea and didn’t speak, but Liu Wei’s temperament was more fierce than hers and the look on her face immediately became displeased.

Liu Wei turned her head and looked at Ji Shiyu, “Who is this?”

Ji Shiyu glanced at Liu Wei and continued, “If you don’t take it back, I will be sued. I will definitely not let myself fall alone when that time comes.”

Zu Jin snorted. “What about your father? Will he be willing to pull me in?”

“Stop using my father as an excuse! Why did my father support you back then? Now that I’m in trouble, you are going to set up a chastity memorial arch1. Do you think my father will be happy?”

Zu Jin shook her head in frustration, and then impatiently frowned. “Can you calm down and think about it? If I take that from you, the board of directors will definitely use this to attack your father later. You still think your father’s position as chairman is secure, don’t you? If your father is kicked out, then they will be eager to turn you over. When your father is outside, he won’t be able to lift his head because of you. Do you understand?”

Ji Shiyu glared at her viciously, like she was wishing she could destroy her.

She rudely huffed and couldn’t say a word, but her dignity did not allow her to fall in front of Zu Jin.

“Tch! If my father was kicked out, then don’t you have to go along?”

Liu Wei, who was sitting at the side, couldn’t help it anymore. She rolled her eyes and said, “Please, how can you compare that to her? If she leaves Qiyu, companies will be fighting over her!”

Ji Shiyu was so shocked that she couldn’t catch her breath, and turned her head and took a look at Liu Wei.

“Then who are you? I’m talking to her, so why are you sticking your nose in?”

After that, Ji Shiyu didn’t wait for Zu Jin to speak, when she slowly left. She walked in her black platform high heels and fluttered her hair like a model on a catwalk.

Liu Wei was almost fuming with rage when she looked at Ji Shiyu’s back.

“A rich second generation who is about to be defeated. She’s really a drag!”

Zu Jin immediately raised her glass and clinked her glass. She consoled, “Calm down, calm down, didn’t she learn her lesson?”

“No matter how great her father is, that’s not her success. What right does she have to yell at you?!”

Zu Jin’s teeth were hit by the ice in the fruit juice, and her neck shrank.

“I called you over today to share happy things with you, not to talk about her.”

After Zu Jin ate and returned to Qiyu, Xia Tong immediately reported to her that Ji Shiyu still had not given up and had actually come over again.

“Just let her wait there and say that I will see her when I am done.”

Xia Tong helplessly said, “But she also brought a reporter over. I’m worried that the reporter will indiscriminately write something when he goes back.”

Zu Jin wanted to ask the security guard to come over and make them leave, but Ji Shiyu found a reporter to come with her. If she drove them away, then she might not be able to stop Ji Shiyu from making the reporter write something more ruthless.

When Zu Jin went to the reception room, the reporter stood up as soon as she walked in.

“Hello, President Jin, I am a reporter from the Metropolitan Financial Daily and I want to interview you.”

After Zu Jin sat down and crossed her legs, she said with a smile, “Your editor-in-chief, Lao Zhang, and I are old friends. Did he ask you to come here?”

The reporter was shocked. “No, but I got his approval before I came here.”

Ji Shiyu proudly snorted next to him. “Are you afraid he will go back and write without any basis? Don’t worry, I just asked him to come over and write an article for me, and then put your interview together with it. If the board wants to do anything, then that will definitely be more scrupulous.”

It turned out that the reporter was asked to come over and clean her up.

Zu Jin looked at Ji Shiyu with a headache. “If I accept the interview, then doesn’t it mean that I testify to allowing you to take the production samples? You can clean up your charges and I will become the criminal for stealing against the corporation’s interest. Do you really think that this is a good plan?”

Ji Shiyu curled her lips. “Stop wrongly accusing me. You’re the one who is thinking too much, I don’t mean that!”

“I think it’s better if you go back first and ask your father to talk about it. I have something to do. I have to go.”

With that, Zu Jin immediately left the reception room.

The reporter was dumbfounded. He didn’t expect Zu Jin to see through everything they had planned at once.

“Miss Ji, do you still want me to write this article?”

Before they came, Ji Shiyu had explained things to him, and specifically asked him to find a way to provoke Zu Jin during the interview.

After getting Zu Jin’s attitude to that point, he would go back and use it to write the article in a clever way so that others reading the newspaper would think that Zu Jin was completely on Ji Shiyu’s side.

Like this, the board of directors would focus on punishing Zu Jin. Moreover, Ji Desheng could take this opportunity to shift the blame and then the father-daughter duo could get rid of this incident.

But none of them expected that Zu Jin would think through all of it at once.

It was more complicated than they thought!

It was really hell.

Ji Shiyu raised her hand and hit the vase on the coffee table to the floor.

With the sound of the vase breaking, her face was ugly and scary. “Still write about what?! Who’s going to read it?!”

The reporter trembled with fear. He began to regret taking this job.
