Chapter 1. Nursery School Life

Episode 7

When I turned my head to a familiar voice, I saw Daniel and Leo in pajamas.

“Why aren’t you sleeping?”

“Leo said he wanted to go to the bathroom, so we’re on the way back.”

“I see.”

“What about you, sister?”

“I just woke up.”

“I want to sleep next to you.”

Leo dropped Daniel’s hand and came to me. He then squeezed through the sofa and settled down, crouched near my waist.

“I was scared because you weren’t there.”

“You have Daniel.”

“The little brother is a coward.”

“What are you saying?”

“That’s right.”

“No, I’m not.”

Daniel stared at Leo. I couldn’t help but smile at the appearance.

“Daniel, come here.”

When I opened my arms on the other side of the seat, Daniel seemed to be hesitating for a while and came to me and leaned on me.

When I locked my two younger brothers in with both arms, I felt somewhat relieved by the child’s unique warm body temperature.

“I thought about it.”

“Daniel. You don’t have to think about it.”

“But…”

“You’re ten years old now. Just think about it when you’re an adult.”

“Sister is 14 years old now.”

“Soon, fifteen. And I’m already no different from an adult. I’m all grown up and my face has already gone through all the hardships in the world.”

Daniel giggled softly at the self-help joke. Leo was already asleep with a wheezing sound.

“I heard the conversation between father and mother who were drinking by chance on the night of April 27 last year.”

Daniel began to talk with his unique delicate voice.

“‘It was a mistake to raise Eddie in the countryside. Even if I had to set up a business, we should have gone down to the countryside together. He was raised separately.’”

“…”

“Father then said this to mother. ‘I regret that decision. It was a foolish choice. Blood relationships don’t mean we’re really family. A family is formed because we shared time together with sadness and joy.’”

“…”

“I think sister made the right choice. And Edward won’t be different.”

“Thank you.”

Before I knew it, my voice trembled. Daniel breathed deeply and came into my arms. He grumbled little by little.

“I woke up because of Leo. What is this? Anyway, I don’t like it.”

Soon, Daniel breathed like Leo. Tears welled up at the warm body temperature of the two sleeping brothers.

I even had the infinite courage to overcome anything in the Kirgen Empire.

‘I’m glad Daniel and Leo are my brothers.’

And Edward.

In the early morning when I was happy and certain, I fell asleep with my younger brothers.

After spending a week at Mrs. Simpson’s nursery, all the documents were ready.

I have to leave for the Kirgen Empire by carriage this afternoon, but I still haven’t heard from Edward.

“Mrs. Simpson, thank you for all this time.”

“What can I do?”

“If you happen to hear from a child similar to Edward, please write to me.”

“Don’t worry. I’m worried that you’ll go to the empire and suffer. You’re not from that country.”

In fact, the Kirgen Empire and Sierra are not on good terms. Although it is the same country, political problems are complicated.

“If you’re in trouble there, you can come here anytime.”

However, no matter how much the nursery accepts us, Mrs. Simpson’s worries were great because we were going to another country to live there.

“Thank you for your concern. Don’t worry. We’ll do well.”

After giving Mrs. Simpson a light hug, I greeted the children at the nursery who became quite affectionate within a week. Then I got in a carriage called by Mrs. Simpson.

It ran for almost two full days. In the carriage, Leo whined all day, saying he was bored, and Daniel fainted half way from motion sickness and only slept.

“Sister. Welcome to the Kirgen Empire.”

Leo knocked on the window after reading the panel written on the border. When I checked that I was crossing the border outside the window, I felt strange.

A month ago, I never imagined I would be in this situation. At that time, I was the happiest girl in the world.

I had a lot of friends and there was nothing I desired under the sky. But now, I have to go to a nursery located abroad to be with my brothers.

‘It still feels like a dream.’

If it’s a nightmare, I hope I wake up soon. However, as if it were reality, not a nightmare, I fell asleep in a still condition.

It was only after the horseman shook and woke us up that we arrived at the nursery.

“Oh, we’re here already?”

“Yeah. We arrived earlier than I thought. Then eat well and stay healthy.”

The horseman, who left a greeting, quickly drove the wagon and left. Holding Leo and Daniel’s hands, I checked the nursery in front of me.

In the countryside, where there were only mountains and fields around, only one building was placed alone.

The new nursery building had a very old appearance, but it was good.

“Sister…”

Daniel, who is not good at acting like a child, stuck to me. He cleared up his messy hair and whispered.

Pls read only at pink muffin tl.

“You said not to be scared before.”

“Yeah.”

I said don’t be scared, but I think I’m actually the most scared. This is because I was worried that my younger siblings would come to a foreign country and suffer from my choice.

I took a deep breath and knocked on the iron door. There was a loud noise from the door. Soon, I heard the sound of words inside.

“I guess they’re here!”

“Who?”

“New kids. They said they’d come.”

I could understand the words, but the accent was a little different from what we used. It reminded me that this was the Kirgen Empire.

“Excuse me.”

“Wait a minute! I’ll bring Mrs. Miller!”

I heard a girl of my age inside. After a while, the door opened and a warm-hearted looking woman in her thirties appeared.

To make a good impression, I greeted with a big smile.

“Hello, I’m Elizabeth Herrington.”

She cut off what I was saying.

“What about the documents?”

“Oh… Yes, it’s here.”

When I quickly took the documents out of my arms and handed them over, the woman received the documents roughly. Then she took her horn-rimmed glasses out of her arms and checked the documents.

Unlike the warm impression, the cold gaze looked up and down at me. Then she looked at Daniel and Leo and asked.

“Are you really 14 years old? You look like you could be seventeen or eighteen.”

“I often hear that I look mature.”

“Hmm.”

Leo hid behind me in the woman’s cold voice. Unlike Mrs. Simpson, I have been anxious about my intuition that her behavior may be cold like her cold eyes.

I felt Daniel’s hands beginning to sweat. Daniel’s thumb swept the back of my hand to mean that it was okay.

Daniel looked up at me and smiled vaguely when he met my eyes. But the sound of my pounding heart rang in my ears.

“Come on in.”

She opened the door clearly and smiled.

I grabbed Daniel and Leo’s hands and crossed the gate of the nursery. I just crossed the black iron gate, but it felt like I was stepping into a completely different world.

The curious eyes of the children huddled over the gate touched us. Leo shrank and stuck close to me.

“Let’s put the luggage bag anywhere first. Yes, there. Let’s see the name… Elizabeth Herrington, Daniel Herrington, and Leonardo Herrington?”

“Yes. Please call me Lizzy comfortably.”

I have a nickname, Lilibet, but it wasn’t a name that anyone was allowed to call me. So, I said Lizzy without difficulty.

“Call me Mrs. Miller. Okay? You have a godmother here?”

“I heard she’s in Kirta, the capital city.”

“How much does your godmother have?”

“What?”

“Is your godmother rich?”

“That… I don’t know.”

It’s been more than a decade since I saw Mrs. Rose, my mother’s friend. I don’t remember anything directly because I last met her when I was four.

Still, I think she would be quite rich because she was a friend of my mother.

The family then became difficult due to her husband’s business failure, and there was a letter asking if she could lend money, and a few years ago, she said that her husband was seriously injured in an accident and wandered around.

‘The last time I heard about it, I think she said she was at her husband’s funeral.’

As a result, I had no expectations when I wrote to her to help me. That’s the same now.

“I think it would be difficult to get a lot of help from her…”

“Tsk.”

“But ma’am. I’m sorry, but can I get some water? I couldn’t drink properly because I was coming a long way.”

“I heard you were the daughter of a rich family in your country. You don’t have any inheritance?”

In fact, there are 15 million Berks I saved and 3 million Berks I received from my pocket money, but it is not inherited property. I can’t even disclose that I have such money.

‘I can only trust myself in this world. The money is for children’s education, so I have to keep it.’

After being so determined, I nodded and answered.

“Uh… Yes. Actually, I gave up on inheritance because of the debt.”

“Give up inheritance? Tsk. You’re not lying, are you?”
