Chapter 27: “Naomi flying in the sky.”

After finishing the explanation about smartphones, Rudy stood up.

“Alright, then let’s go to master’s house now,” he said.

“But we talked about that in the morning, are we going now? Even if we arrive there, we won’t have much time,” Naomi replied.

“Don’t worry. If we know the location, we can fly there in a flash,” Rudy assured her.

Naomi’s eyes lit up at Rudy’s response.

“Does that mean I can also ride the flying ship?” she asked excitedly.

“What else is there?” Rudy replied.

“No other options. If that’s the case, let’s go right away!” Naomi exclaimed.

Naomi got up from her seat and eagerly headed outside before Rudy.

“This is the cockpit. master, please sit there,” Rudy said.

Naomi entered the cockpit and marveled at the unfamiliar equipment. Rudy gestured for her to sit in the co-pilot seat.

“Rudy, do we control it with this stick-like thing?” Naomi asked, poking the control stick in front of Rudy.

“That’s right. Since I’ve deactivated the functions over there, feel free to play with it,” Rudy replied. (T/N: When you tell your little brother or sister to come and play but everything is discounted for them kinda vibe)

With Rudy’s permission, Naomi joyfully moved the control stick back and forth, left and right.

“Hmm, I have no idea how to pilot this at all,” Naomi said, tilting her head.

“When I saw magic, did I think the same way? …I did,” Rudy replied.

As Naomi puzzled over the controls, Rudy started the engine and lifted the hovercraft into the air.

“Woah… It’s floating!” Naomi exclaimed in excitement.

Rudy chuckled as he watched Naomi’s enthusiasm.

He slowly flew the hovercraft at low altitude toward Naomi’s house.

“We’re really flying! It’s amazing!” Naomi exclaimed.

“Master, can magic… make you fly?” Rudy asked.

Naomi gazed out of the window, not turning around, and replied, “I can fly. Maybe others can too… I’ve never seen anyone else fly before.”

Rudy considered her words and concluded that it’s best to assume that besides her, no one else can fly. He felt a renewed interest in Naomi’s magical abilities.

The hovercraft landed in front of Naomi’s house in just 10 minutes.

“That was really quick,” Naomi remarked.

“Even though we flew slowly,” Rudy replied.

“It would take over an hour if we walked. It’s plenty fast,” Naomi said.

Rudy opened the rear hatch of the hovercraft and unloaded an arm-equipped truck and a combined heavy machine that had been useful in setting up the base camp.

“We’re going to demolish master’s house and dig a hole. Once we’ve dug it, we’ll bury the base camp underground,” Rudy explained.

“So, you’re going to bring the entire base camp, including that house?” Naomi asked.

Rudy shook his head in response to that question.

“If we brought the current base camp, we wouldn’t have a place to live. I brought something different,” he clarified.

“There are other amazing houses as well?” Naomi asked.

“Yeah, I have about ten more in stock for no good reason,” Rudy replied.

During the transportation to the colonized planet, Nike had loaded plenty of materials and food. If they hadn’t had all those supplies, Rudy would have been living on the hovercraft, struggling to find food.

He was only fortunate in one regard—his bad luck. That was Rudy for you.

“Well then, I’m off. Master, just wander around and enjoy yourself,” Rudy said.

“Hmm? Where are you going?” Naomi asked.

“Obviously, I’m going to do some logging,” Rudy answered as if it were a matter of course.

“Oh right, I forgot about that. Should I help too?” Naomi offered.

“That’s fine. I’m just chop them down mercilessly… no, defeat them,” Rudy replied.

Naomi became intrigued by his logging method and followed Rudy.

Rudy, who had entered the forest, was pulling a cart floating in the sky. He stood in front of a moderately thick tree trunk and took out a chainsaw from the cart.

“What’s that?”

“It’s a chainsaw. The product name is ‘Yosaku Caliber-chan’? It’s a strange name.”

Rudy turned on the power of Yosaku Caliber-chan. The teeth of the chainsaw started rotating, and the engine’s intense sound echoed through the forest.

“That’s an amazing sound!”

While covering her ears from the thunderous noise, Naomi shouted loudly, and Rudy stopped Yosaku Caliber-chan for a moment and turned towards her.

“Did you say something, master?”

“I said it’s an amazing sound.”

“…Can this attract enemies?”

“It’s quite possible, but with such a loud noise, they probably won’t approach.”

Rudy pondered “Hmm” at Naomi’s response and opened his mouth.

“Master, let’s stay cautious just in case.”

“Understood.”

“Oh, I forgot. Put this on.”

Rudy handed Naomi a yellow helmet with “Safety First” written on it. He put the same one on his head, and to further protect against flying debris, he wore goggles. (T/N: I see we still have hardhats)

“What’s this?”

“It’s for safety.”

“Well, I suppose so.”

Thinking it was a conspicuous yellow protective gear, Naomi also put on the helmet.

Rudy turned on the power of Yosaku Caliber-chan again and pressed its teeth against the large tree in front of him.

In no time, Rudy felled a tree.

Watching the scene, Naomi thought it was a terrifying weapon despite its name.

“Surprisingly hard labor.”

Unaware of her thoughts, Rudy slightly adjusted his helmet, wiped the sweat on his forehead with his sleeve, and began searching for the next large tree.

“What will you do with the felled trees?”

“I’ll transport them with a drone later.”

Rudy shouldered Yosaku Caliber-chan and started walking.

The teeth of Yosaku Caliber-chan were designed to be concealed for safe transportation when the switch was off.

Rudy continued felling trees. And when he felled another tree, Naomi noticed a presence approaching.

“Rudy!”

“…?”

Even though Naomi shouted loudly, Rudy didn’t notice due to the noisy Yosaku Caliber-chan and his concentration on tree felling.

Well, she should be able to handle it alone. Leaving Rudy as he was, Naomi headed towards the source of the presence.
