My Hero Academia- Thunderstorm

Chapter 5 - The Hidden Threat

As I was taking a nap my dad shocked me to wake me up. I hate it when he does that, and he knows it too.

"Well I wouldn't have to wake you up if you just got up on time."

My dad says as if he can read my mind.

"It seems that the letter that determines if you get into U.A is here. You better let me know if your accepted or not."

My dad leaves the package on my desk and leaves the room. I eagerly open the package and is greeted to a projection of the school's principal Nezu. He's sitting at his desk while drinking tea.

"I made this video especially for you Denki. As the principal of this school I must be aware of the dangers that go around my teachers and students as well. Regardless of that fact, you did exceptionally well. So well in fact that I find it hard to believe that you didn't have prior knowledge of the test beforehand. It makes me question whether I want to have you in my school in the first place, even if I don't have any evidence to back up my claim. However, I do owe a favor to your mother, so I'll cut you a break. If you give me any reason to suspect you of any foul play, then well it won't end well for you."

Nezu slowly drinks some more tea before speaking again.

"Congratulations Denki for you have earned yourself 1st place in the U.A. entranced exam and have earned the right to study at U.A. I hope you use your abilities and talents to the best of your ability. I hope you will become an amazing hero that will make your parents proud."

The video cuts off and I'm left stunned. I didn't think doing so well would earn me an undisguised threat from the principal. They really are wary of someone sneaking into U.A. Though I'm not surprised since someone was feeding information to the League of Villains in the anime. I'll have to keep an eye out for any suspicious activities my classmates take in the future.

Anyway, better tell dad the good news before he starts throwing a fit. I walk down the stairs and see my dad watching tv on the couch.

"Hey Dad. I got into U.A. aren't I amazing or what?"

"I'm guessing or what as the answer choice. You've got a long way to go, don't let your ego stop you from achieving your dream."

"Your worrying too much. I can take care of myself."

"I'm your dad. It's my job to worry about you and besides being a hero means that one day you may not come home through that door just like your mother. I know you don't like talking about her, but it's the sad reality that you face. I need you to be not 50% or 100%, but 1000% ready for whatever comes your way. But enough of that. I love you and were going out to your favorite restaurant to celebrate tonight."

"Thanks Dad. I'll make you proud."

Later that night while the main character sleeps. His dad is making a call to someone he knows.

Denki's Dad: "I know. He's becoming more like her every day. I worry about him."

???: "Well this time make sure he stays in line. I don't want another repeat of what happened to his mother. The kid deserves better than that. However, don't you think your son deserves to know the truth about what happened to her."

Denki's Dad: "He does, but he's not ready yet and he's got so much on his plate right now."

The person on the other side of the line sighs heavily.

???: "Waiting will only make it harder to tell him. Although, I wouldn't want to have to tell my son a truth that ugly either. Just be careful, he's a smart boy and will eventually find out the truth on his own."

Denki's Dad: "I understand. I'll talk to you later."

Denki's Dad hangs up the phone and retreats to bed.
