My Groom Ran Away

The next day, after Ruan Zhiyin washed up and walked out of her room, she bumped into Cheng Yuelin who had just come out of the next room.

The man was different from his usual tidy appearance in a suit. He had his jacket draped over his arm and his tie was messily hanging around his neck. His white shirt had the top two buttons undone and the collar was slightly open, revealing a white collarbone.

He gave off a gentle but roguish atmosphere that made it difficult for people to avert their eyes.

When he saw her, Cheng Yuelin lifted a brow and leaned back against the wall and said, “My hand hurts, do you know how to tie a tie?”

Ruan Zhiyin’s gaze landed on his swollen hand and furrowed her brows in concern while she shook her head. “Not very well.”

The man laughed lightly and said, “Kay, I’ll teach you.”

To Ruan Zhiyin it was not difficult to learn to tie a tie, but what Cheng Yuelin tried to explain was not very useful. The two of them wasted some time before Ruan Zhiyin finally followed a video she found online and successfully tied a tie.

When she pushed the knot up to tighten around the collar, Cheng Yuelin lowered his head and all of a sudden, the two of them were very close together.

Ruan Zhiyin subconsciously looked up and her eyes met the man’s dark eyes. The man’s eyebrows were straight and strong, his nose was high, and his lips were thin. The short distance accentuated his handsome features.

It was said that when people fall in love at first sight, it was through their eyes.

Ruan Zhiyin had her back against the door and the man towered over her, leaning over slightly to look down at her. During this long stare, she subconsciously held her breath and her fingertips slowly froze. It seemed as though even the air had frozen.

In the next moment, Ruan Zhiyin heard Cheng Yuelin’s teasing voice say. “What is it, Ruan Yingying, am I that good looking?”

Enough to make you… completely dazed.

His inky black eyes were filled with a smile and seeing that she did not answer, he then continued, “Last time you said that women can also admire men. So in that group of people, does that include you too?”

The man’s eyes had a trace of amusement and it appeared as though they could see right through her and that she could not hide anything.

Ruan Zhiyin lowered her gaze and landed on his Adam’s apple and her embarrassment slowly started to rise.

She tried to shift her gaze again and noticed the dark shadows under his eyes. She had finally found a topic to hide from her embarrassment.

“You… did not sleep well last night?”

The man gave a slight ‘mm’. in acknowledgement.

“Why?”

“What do you think?”

“How would I know?”

“You don’t?” Cheng Yuelin raised an eyebrow and patted her head. Then he slowly said, “Ruan Yingying, if you can’t figure it out then… slowly think about it.”

He knew that Ruan Zhiyin’s heart might be leaning towards him now, but it might not be enough.

If he moved too quickly, it would only scare her. He had waited for so long, but he did not want her to feel the weight of that just yet.

He should still wait a little longer.

The weekend passed in a flash.

Ruan Zhiyin’s plan to chase him had still not really begun and when she returned to the office, Ruan Zhiyin went back to work mode.

She officially stepped down from her temporary position as CEO and handed it over to Ji Yijun who had just returned to the company.

The company’s main business was not within her expertise and Ruan Zhiyin knew that she did not have the skills required. This was also one of the reasons why she decided to stay at T&D and did not immediately return from abroad.

Now that she had cleared out the Lin family from the company, she had thought about opening a new independent business, but as there were still things unfinished, she could only continue to work on the Beicheng project.

Kang Yu was supposed to go to Lin Heng with Xiang Bin to meet with Director Zhong to discuss the second investment phase for the project. But during lunch, Ruan Zhiyin had noticed that Kang Yu’s face was pale, and sweat was running down her forehead. She knew that she wasn’t feeling well and forced her to take sick leave.

In the afternoon, Ruan Zhiyin debated the idea and constantly changed her mind; in the end she went with Xiang Bin and went to Lin Heng herself.

Other than the time Cheng Yuelin brought her to sign the marriage contract on the weekend, this was the first time Ruan Zhiyin had arrived at the Lin Heng office.

This was a sudden visit, and it was for work. To avoid suspicion, she did not go to the top floor to find Cheng Yuelin and took Xiang Bin directly to the twelfth floor to find Director Zhong.

In addition to discussing the second investment phase for the project, Xiang Bin also made a brief presentation and report on the progress of the first section of the project. The two had a two-hour meeting in the conference room with the people from the Lin Heng project team.

At the end of the meeting, Ruan Zhiyin ordered some desserts from the SIMO Hotel to express her gratitude. Who knew that just as she was about to leave, she ran into Qian Fan at the elevator.

It seemed as though he had just come down from the top floor and when he saw Ruan Zhiyin he was very surprised. “Sister-in-law, why are you here?”

Ruan Zhiyin smiled and said, “I came to talk to Director Zhong about the second investment into the Beicheng project.”

“Brother Lin doesn’t know you are here?”

“I don’t know.” Ruan Zhiyin shook her head.

After speaking, she passed the leftover desserts in her hand to Qian Fan. “I just ordered some desserts from SIMO, they’re pretty good. You should try some.”

She originally intended to bring them home to Cheng Yuelin, but since she ran into Qian Fan, she can order another set.

Qian Fan accepted the desserts Ruan Zhiyin gave him in a daze and was extremely touched.

Thinking back to Cheng Yuelin’s face when he was showing off his lemon pear tea, he felt it was such a pity that someone as nice as Ruan Zhiyin was being exploited by him every day.

This time, he really had enough!

With that thought, Qian Fan said, “Sister-in-law, if that man is too over the top, don’t bear it. If you endure it for too long, he’ll just get worse and worse!”

Ruan Zhiyin was confused. “?”

Qian Fan saw her expression and gave her a comforting hand. “You don’t need to hide it from me. I understand, with his crabby personality, you must have suffered a lot.”

Ruan Zhiyin did not know how Cheng Yuelin had annoyed Qian Fan and was speechless for a moment before she tried to convince him. “But he… is actually pretty nice. He does have a sharp mouth, just try not to take it personally.”

Hearing that she was actually helping Cheng Yuelin, Qian Fan’s eyes shook, and his heart was filled with sorrow.

How can this be! How can that crabby person actually marries such a gentle and kind wife. Why don’t I have one!

He forgot to get off the elevator and in a daze, he followed Ruan Zhiyin to the first floor. After saying goodbye, a short while later, he pressed the button to the top floor again.

In the president’s office, Cheng Yuelin looked at Qian Fan who had just left but had returned with a bag.

He looked at him a few times before putting down a document and said, “So… previously you did a lot of overtime and recently things are calmer. I’ll let you have half a month off.”

“Cheng Yuelin! I’m telling you, I won’t just accept these petty little bribes.” Qian Fan said righteously.

Why! Ever since Cheng Yuelin got married, he would often pass off all his overtime work to Qian Fan. Even if you ignore that, he still had to deal with him flaunting his relationship with every turn. It was just ridiculous!

Cheng Yuelin glanced at him and said, “Fine, I’ll add an extra 10% to your bonus this year.”

“Hey, Brother Lin, where do you think I should go for my vacation? Speaking of which, you and sister-in-law haven’t had your honeymoon yet right? Should I also check out a few places for you?”
