My Goalkeeping System

31 A Few Football Updates

"Hey, babe I'm heading to the stadium now," Dave said coming down the stairs. "Are you sure you….."

He wanted to make sure she didn't want to come with him but he wasn't able to finish the sentence as he could see another woman sitting on the couch with her now and the both of them were giggling like little kids.

"Hey, babe this is my friend Karen." Emma quickly introduced her friend to him as soon as she spotted him in the living room.

"Hi, Dave," Karen said with a little wave.

"Hi," Dave said, returning the wave.

Karen, unlike Emma, seemed to be a little busty. She was sitting so her height couldn't really be determined but it looked like she was the same height as Emma, she had an oval face with plump pink lips, long eyelashes and beautiful brown eyes and lastly she had long and straight blonde hair.

"Karen is from Vrester and she drove all the way from there just to come see me after she heard what happened," Emma said.

"That's nice of you Karen," Dave said, turning to her with a smile.

"It's nothing, Emma's my best friend and I'll do anything for her, I'm just glad that she's okay," Karen said.

"Okay," Dave said as he walked to the small table in the living room and picked up his car keys. "I'll leave you two alone now."

He walked to the door, opened it, and was about to walk outside when he heard Emma say something.

"Hey, babe before you leave, can I ask you for one thing?" Emma said.

"What?" Dave asked.

"Can Karen sleep over tonight? She arrived here late and you know it's not safe to travel far distances at night." Emma said.

"She came to see you so I don't see why not," Dave said with a shrug.

"Thanks, babe," Emma said with a smile.

"Okay, I'll be going now," Dave said.

"Wait," Emma said, stopping him from leaving again.

"What?" Dave said, sounding a little annoyed this time.

"Are you really going to leave without giving me a kiss?"

Dave didn't reply as he quickly walked to her and kissed her before raising his gaze to meet hers.

"That's more like it." She said with a smile.

Dave smiled back at her before turning and quickly making his way to the door.

"You two are really cute together." He heard Karen say before he walked out through the door and closed it.

He arrived at the stadium by three PM which was exactly the time set for the training.

The coach knew the players were going to need some rest after that match last night and that's why he decided to schedule the training in the evening.

Dave parked his car in his normal parking spot and just after stepping out of it, he saw Mateo's black Lexus IS heading toward him.

The new nineteen-year-old winger parked his car beside his own before stepping out of it.

"How're you doing bro?" He asked as he went for a handshake and a shoulder bump.

"I'm okay, you?" Dave asked.

"I'm good," Mateo said with a little nod. "I think we should head inside fast, they must have started by now.

The two had quickly made their way inside and after asking some of the staff around, they found out that Coach Norman had not yet arrived.

Since the coach wasn't there yet then there was no need to rush as they had not missed any information so they took the walk to the pitch slowly.

"So how's my sister?" Mateo asked as they walked to the pitch.

"She's okay and she's even better now after she ate the delicious meal I made for her," Dave said.

"Wait, you cooked a meal that Emma ate and said it was delicious," Mateo said with a shocked expression on his face.

"Well, she didn't call it jealous but with the look on her face while she was eating it, I knew she liked it," Dave said.

"If she didn't call it delicious what then did she call it?" Mateo asked.

"Horrible and lots of other terrible things but I didn't mind as long as she kept stuffing it in her mouth," Dave said.

"That's definitely the sister I know," Mateo said with an awkward expression on his face.

The two had arrived at the stadium where they found Ferran and a few other players training by themselves.

Ferran had stopped the stretching he was doing and quickly made his way to the two as soon as he spotted the two.

"Hey, Mateo, hey, Dave." He said after stopping in front of them.

"You have a serious habit of over-punctuality, Ferran," Mateo said sarcastically.

"So How's your sister?" He asked, ignoring the joke.

"She's fine, she's with Dave so I am sure she's getting better by now," Mateo answered.

"I'm glad your girlfriend is okay Dave," Ferran said, turning his gaze to Dave.

"Yeah, thanks," Dave said with a nod.

"So did you guys hear about Fernandez's hat trick against Elche in the afternoon match yesterday?" Ferran asked.

"Waooh, Fernandez scored a hattrick?" Mateo said with a look of amazement on his face.

"That means he has steered clear of Ciro in the Pichichi race by three goals," Dave said.

"Yeah, he steered clear of him until Barca's match against Levante last night," Ferran said.

"Barcelona played last night?" Dave said with a surprised expression on his face as he had no idea.

"Yeah," Ferran said with a nod.

Well, he would have known if the whole thing with Emma had not disrupted his mind.

"Okay how did the match end and how many goals did Ciro score?" Mateo asked.

"Well, the match ended six goals to nothing with Ciro grabbing a quadruple," Ferran said.

"Wait, you can't be serious, four goals," Mateo said.

"We are talking about Ciro here Mateo," Ferran said.

"Well, he took that personally, Fernandez scored a hattrick and he decided to score four," Mateo said.

"Those two are clearly battling it out in La Liga," Dave said.

"Yeah, and we will see the best of that battle in the El Clasico next week," Ferran said. "Both teams are currently on level points but Barcelona are on top with goal difference."

"Okay, you got anything about the premier league?" Mateo asked.

"Yeah," Ferran said with a nod. "Man City beat Arsenal to top the table, it was a tough match but that last-minute goal by Caralo was enough to seal the win for them."

"Okay, any news on Aston Villa?" Mateo asked.

"Yeah Aston Villa also played last night but they lost to Liverpool one goal to nothing, it was an early goal by Salem after that they couldn't do anything else and Aston Villa were unable to find an equalizer."

"Well, that's a bummer," Mateo said.

The players had all arrived now and so had coach Norman who was walking into the pitch now along with the other coaching staff and the president of the club Tom Richards.

"Were you aware that your father was back?" Mateo asked, turning his gaze to Luis.

"Yeah, he paid me a visit," Dave said, keeping his face straight and void of any emotion.

"Hello, Boys." Coach Norman said after stopping in front of the squad. "As you all can see the president is back and he would like to have a word with you."

After saying that, he stepped back as the president stepped forward to address the players.

He turned toward Dave and made eye contact with him but the goalkeeper turned away as soon as that eye contact was established.

He slightly shook his head as he cleared his throat and faced the whole squad.

"I will start by congratulating....
