My Goalkeeping System

21 Arrived For The Match

Dave returned to the house to find Emma sleeping on the couch with the television still on.

"Well, would you look at that?" He said as he slowly walked to her.

She was lying on her side with her face facing the television and it looked like she was holding the remote control before she fell asleep as the thing was on the floor now.

Dave looked at the television to see that a commercial was playing on it now before he slowly turned his gaze to Emma who looked cute even while sleeping with her mouth slightly open.

Dave sat down beside her before using his hand to push aside the few strands of hair covering her face.

He stared at her for a while with a smile on his face before she blinked her eyes before opening them and as soon as she had seen his face, a warm smile appeared on her face.

"You're back." She said with a low voice.

"Yeah, I guess the TV wasn't enough to keep you from missing me," Dave said.

"I didn't miss you, I was just tired and fell asleep," Emma said.

"Really? And what happened to the very long season of your favorite soap opera?" Dave asked.

"There was no very long season of my favorite soap opera," Emma said. "It was just a few episodes before they started showing other things that disinterested me."

"And then you fell asleep because you were bored and not because you were tired," Dave said.

"I was bored and tired," Emma said.

"And you're not ready to admit that you were bored because you missed me?"

"No, I'm not admitting it." She said with a smile.

"Okay, that's fine by me," Dave said, leaning closer to kiss her.

"So how boring was your workout session?" Emma asked, staring into his eyes as he had his face very close to hers now and she could feel his cold breath on her face.

"It wasn't boring given the fact that I didn't fall asleep," Dave said.

"Oh."

"But still, nothing is more fun than being with you," Dave said as he locked her in a passionate kiss, the type of kiss, the type of kiss that always had her gasping for air but she wouldn't push him back to try and catch her breath rather she would pull him closer to suffocate her more just like she had done now.

The players making up the squad for Unique FC in the match against Spree United had all assembled at the stadium as it was time to head to the airport for their flight to Spree.

Dave, as always, was with the only real friend he had in the team apart from Adolf, Mateo Smith.

It looked Mateo was telling him something as the players made their way to the team bus.

Most of the players were putting on black sports trousers with the team's orange jacket which had the logo placed on them as badges, the logo was also placed on their trousers.

The distance between Wandamino stadium and the airport wasn't that long so it didn't take long before the players had arrived there along with their coach and other staff.

They quickly made their way to the club's private plane and once everyone had settled down the plane had taken off heading for Spree.

After a few minutes in the air, Mateo had taken out his smartphone to take a selfie.

He drew closer to Dave and raised the phone to take a selfie with Dave before relaxing back in his seat.

"Off to spree for the match, hashtag a must-win match," Mateo said as he typed on his phone and as soon as he was done he pushed the post button.

"How brave of you to assume that we're going to win when we have that basket in the goalpost and I am not starting," Jonas said from where he was sitting on one of the seats behind the one opposite Dave and Mateo.

He had seen the post as soon as Mateo had posted it.

"Stop this nonsense Jonas, we're going to play a match that we are supposed to win, you're supposed to be filling the atmosphere with positivity, not negativity," Adolf said as he was the one sitting beside Jonas.

"No amount of positivity will stop that basket from conceding a goal," Jonas said.

Dave knew best not to say anything to Jonas while he made these comments, it was the best way to avoid any trouble as the team was going to play a match and conflict wasn't a good thing on these types of occasions.

<But one day you're going to stand up and shut that guy up, just one day>

"I hate that guy," Mateo muttered with a look of annoyance on his face.

It took up to thirty minutes before they had finally arrived at the airport at Spree.

On getting to Spree United's stadium the Zelerion stadium there were a lot of fans waiting for them there and they were chanting the name of some of their favorite players as they walked into the building.

One of the names that could be heard among the fabs was Mateo but nobody even thought about calling Dave's name but he couldn't care less.

The players, coaching staff and other staff were welcomed by the host team before they were taken to the guest locker room.

The team had arrived by 2:00 PM which meant that they still had a lot of time to train and do other things before the match kicked off by 7:00 PM.

"Alright boys, change into your training kits so we can go for a few rounds of training." Coach Norman said as soon as they had entered the locker room.

The players did as they were told and quickly changed into their training kit which was an orange kit with black curvy designs but for the goalkeeper, it was black with orange curvy designs.

All the players had left the locker room except Dave and Mateo.

The goalkeeper was slowly putting on his gloves before the winger approached.

He would have already left if he had not turned back and seen Dave still getting ready.

"Hey, man are you okay?" He asked as he stopped in front of him.

"Of course, I'm okay Mateo," Dave said, looking up at him with a smile.

"Okay," Mateo said. "Remember just try your best and don't let the pressure get to you, you're a good goalkeeper and I know you can prove the haters wrong, you just have to build up your confidence that's one of the reasons for your poor performances."

<He's right about that>

"Don't let Jonas' words get to you."

"Thanks, Mateo, I'll try my best," Dave said, strapping his gloves around his wrist to prevent them from slipping off his hand.

"I know you will," Mateo said.

"You know sometimes when I'm with you, I feel like the younger person," Dave said.

"You need to be the older person to encourage someone," Mateo said.

<I think that particular trait runs in their family>

"Now let's go train and get ready for this match," Mateo said, offering him a hand up.

"Yeah," Dave said as he grabbed his hand and was pulled up by him. "Let's go train."
