My Goalkeeping System

101 Morning Time Together

"Pick the balls up." She said,

"Okay," Dave said before getting closer to the balls and picking them up. "I've picked them up now what?"

"One of them has a tiny green-shaped crystal on it."

"Green crystal?" Dave said as he began to turn both balls around until he found the Green crystal on the one he was holding in his left hand. "I'm guessing this is the one I have to save."

"Yeah, now get in your goalpost," Catherine said as both balls quickly disappeared from his hands and appeared at the edge of the box.

"I recommend Ciro Martinez and Kyle Pellegrini from Paris Saint Germain," Dave said.

"As you wish," Catherine said as Ciro immediately appeared in front of one of the balls while Kyle appeared in front of the other ball.

Ciro was putting on his Barcelona jersey as expected while Kyle was putting on his PSG kit with the number nine written on the back of it below his name.

Kyle Pellegrini was a black footballer who liked to shave his head clean, unlike Ciro, he had a huge body.

He had turned into one of the most formidable strikers known in the world since his move from Roma to Paris Saint Germain.

"Cool." Dave nodded with a smile on his face after seeing both players appear before him.

"Focus."

As soon as those words left Catherine's vocal system, both players drew their legs back and sent the balls flying toward his goalpost.

Kyle's ball was easier to save as it had gone toward the right side of his post with a little elevation while Ciro sent his own flying toward the top left-hand corner of his goalpost.

He dived toward Kyle's ball and caught it before it could fly into the net.

"Caught it." He said as he began to roll the ball around to see if he could find the green crystal but after rolling it around for a few seconds, he realized that he caught the wrong ball.

"Wrong ball," Catherine said as he turned his gaze to see Ciro's ball relaxing on the net with the green crystal part exposed.

"How do you expect me to find and save a ball with a small green crystal on it while it is flying toward me at a speed that makes it impossible to see the crystal ?" The goalkeeper said before kicking the ball he was holding far to the other side of the pitch.

"You focus, focus on both balls with both of your eyes and you'll find the one with the crystal before it gets closer to you," Catherine said.

"You make it sound so easy."

"It's not easy, but with constant practice and following my instructions, it will get easier."

The training continued with Dave mostly catching the wrong ball from either of the two players and failing to catch any of the balls sometimes.

He had been training for an hour plus now and so far he had only been able to catch the right ball twice.

"You're not focusing," Catherine said as both balls flew past him.

"What's there to focus on?" He said before crashing down on the floor. "I don't really get the point of this training or how it's going to help me in a real match."

"A lot of things have hidden meanings behind them," Catherine said.

"This one doesn't look like it has one," Dave said slowly getting up from the floor. "At least I caught two of them, now send me back before I wake up late and miss the training session."

After saying that, his body slowly began to disintegrate until his consciousness returned to his body and he opened his eyes.

He reached for his phone on the small cupboard and pushed the power button to see that the time was 5:28 AM.

At some point during their sleep, Emma had slipped away from his hands meaning that he didn't have to go through his daily routine of slipping away from her today.

'This still feels weird, my body says I've gotten up to seven hours of sleep but in my mind, it feels like I've only been asleep for less than two hours.' He thought after sitting up on the edge of the bed.

<Just so you know, you don't have to train in your dream every night, all you have to do is turn off the feature and you'll sleep and dream just like every other human>

'There's a feature?'

<Yeah, right here>

[ Total dream control ]

[ Status: Active ]

'Cool.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously before getting up from the bed.

He walked down the corridor while checking the live score app on his phone, he wasn't checking the app for any other reason than Lesica United's match last night.

On seeing the final score of the match, he had a very bright smile on his face as he quickly made his way down the staircase.

"Spree United two, Lesica United one, yeah!" He said with an elated voice.

<You guys are on level points now>

'Yeah, and if we win tonight's match, we'll steer clear of them and qualify for the conference league.' Dave replied before making his way to the kitchen to complete his daily quest.

[ +5 exp received ]

He dropped the container on the floor as usual before making his way outside to complete his last daily quest for today as he was planning to skip one.

'I think just two kilometers will do today.' He said subconsciously after stepping into the road.

With his stats improved, he was able to complete two kilometers in under twelve minutes without breaking a sweat and if he had gone faster, he would have completed it under eight minutes.

Two kilometers no longer exhausted him like before, so he turned and began to jog back as soon as he completed it.

[ 88% stamina remaining ]

That was the amount of stamina he had left as he walked into the house after his morning run.

<Are you sure you want to skip the gym today? There's still a lot of time left>

'Yeah, if I spend two hours in the gym now, I'll be done by 7:50, and by then Emma would already be ready to head to work.'

<So, you're skipping your gym session because of her?>

'Yeah.'

He got to the room to find Emma still sleeping on the bed.

He slowly walked to the bed and just as he was about to get on it, she slowly turned toward him and blinked her eyes a few times before opening them.

"Hey," Dave said, smiling at her.

"Hey." She said before rubbing her eyes with her hands and then stretching her hands while yawning. "Good morning."

"Good morning," Dave said.

"It's become rare to wake up and see you these days that I seem to have forgotten how much I love waking up and seeing your face first." She said before slowly sitting up on the bed. "Don't you have morning exercises to attend to, a lawn to sleep on maybe?"

"I'm done with my morning exercises," Dave said, smiling at her.

"You're done, when did you wake up?" She asked with a baffled expression on her face.

"5:30," Dave said.

"5:30? She said tapping the screen of his phone twice to wake it. "It's 5:58 now."

"I skipped the gym."

"Why?"

"Because I want to help you out today and also spend some quality morning time with you today."

"Really?" She said with a bright smile on her face.

"Now let's go, you don't want to arrive late for work today do you?"

"No."

"Good, now let's go." He said before grabbing her arm and quickly making his way out of the room with her.
