He can only indulge him.

Jiang Zheliu, who had injured his waist, ended up sleeping the entire day.

As the darkness shrouded the sky and evening was near was when he finally woke up with a headache, as soon as he opened his eyes he saw Ah-Chu’s worried face in front of him.

Ah-Chu in an extremely worried fashion: “Gege are you okay! Are you hurt! That devil had the cheek to say you forced him to do it, he’s so shameless!”

Jiang Zheliu: “…….”

The mature man who had been thought to have been wronged stayed silent for a moment, thinking about how to clear things up with Ah-Chu. However, as soon as he opened his mouth, his voice was incredibly hoarse making Ah-Chu even more worried.

Alright, it seemed he was making things worse.

“Where is he?” Jiang Zheliu asked.

“He said he had something to attend to and left, he asked me to stay and look after you.” Ah-Chu sat down on the side of the bed in a huff. He swept a glance over all the hickeys and love bites on his shenxian gege’s body, looked at the other’s slender and fair neck that had been branded with a sharp tooth print. His worries slowly went away and the lustful thoughts began to rush up.

Being lecherous was human nature. Ah-Chu comforted himself silently, and then slowly came back to his senses, and stared at him whilst saying: “Although everything is peaceful right now, there are still a lot of matters that Wenren Ye must deal with. Such as expanding the land that was decided on in the agreement, and the new rules for the devils when they enter into the mortal realm….. He’s still very busy.”

He stuck to Jiang Zheliu very closely, he said with satisfaction: “I can sense the Heavenly Spirit Body…… Gege, where are you hurting, let me take a look?”

Let you see, yeh right.

Jiang Zheliu shot a glance at him and used his hand to push the little deer’s antler away, and said in a quiet voice: “With adult matters, children should mind their own business.”

He lowered his head and fixed his robes. He originally wanted to get out of bed and pour himself a cup of tea, but in the end, his waist was still sore. As soon as he exerted any strength, he’d be in extreme pain. So Jiang Zheliu obediently stayed on the bed, and supported his waist with his hand whilst watching Ah-Chu anxiously pass him a cup of tea.

“Gege, you’ve already reached a certain age!” The little deer opened his eyes wide and poked at a sore subject, “so you mustn’t indulge the Devil Lord anymore!”

Once, Jiang Zheliu had wanted to retire in peace because he was getting old not only in age but in seniority. Plus, he had wanted to retire and get away from all of this chaos. But now, he had a will to live that was perhaps even stronger than the little devil’s. In the face of a comment like this, it was like another critical hit to the system.

He accepted the cup of tea and took a sip in silence. As he looked down, his feathery eyelashes started to tremble and then he looked up curiously and asked: “I can’t keep up…. With his endurance?”

That was clearly not the issue, it was because he was a devil!

Ah-Chu was not on the same page as him, he calmly and candidly replied: “Seeing you able to get up, I guess Wenren gege didn’t use his full force.”

That could still be considered not using his full force.

Jiang Zheliu once again suffered another frustration of life, and was not far from shutting down. He regulated his mood, and used the tea to moisten his throat. He said whilst pondering deeply: “It looks like I’m going to have to start cultivating again. Oh yeah, tell me what is happening in the Demon Realm…..”

After Ah-Chu went to the Demon Realm, he became the Azure Dragon Zhenjun’s disciple, cultivating closely with her until this day. He lived with Qinglin in Wan Ling Palace but because the latter was extremely busy with managing the Demon Realm, in reality, she was often not there but instead she often stayed with Four Divisions Pill Furnace.

A new divine beast had emerged from the Four Divisions Pill Furnace, his name was Xuan Shuang1, at the moment, it was still a four year old child and needed a few more years of cultivating in order to become the future Black Tortoise Zhenjun2. But the demons had already pretty much considered his status to be the Black Tortoise Zhenjun and were already addressing him this way.

Ah-Chu chatted to him for a long time, he’d almost finished explaining everything and then suddenly remembered something and quickly asked: “Gege, my shifu wants to see you too. She said she wants to catch up, would that be okay?”

Jiang Zheliu glanced over at the entrance of Jingshan Hall: “Given Wenren Ye’s condition, she probably doesn’t dare to come over.”

Ah-Chu silently nodded in agreement. He had been rubbing against the Heavenly Spirit Body for a long time, and in the end he left with much reluctance. Before he left, he grabbed hold of Jiang Zheliu’s wrist, his mind running wild, he reminded Jiang Zheliu: “Gege, don’t indulge too much in the Devil Lord’s desires, and let him do this and that to you. In case something happens to you, what if he abandons the wife and kids……..?”

Jiang Zheliu did not retort, and could only silently listen to him finish and then Chang Qian escorted the little deer out of the Devil Realm.

It was already the dead of night, these past two days, he’d be sleeping during the day and awake during the night. Since he’d woken up not long ago, he was still feeling very awake, so he tried to use one of his most common cultivation methods – circulating the energy around his meridians.

His meridians had recovered not long ago, so the energy did not flow so fluidly but at least it did not leak from the channels, so there was some hope.

And Jiang Zheliu even thought that the spiritual energy stored this time was even more complete than when he cultivated before. He didn’t expect that he’d been able to improve his innate abilities after dying and having his meridians reconnected.

Although he had the experience of cultivating the first time, re-cultivating was going to be a long road. Plus, his body still needed to recover slowly. If he cultivated too hard, he would put too much pressure on his own body so even if he was already familiar with the road, he still needed to take it step by step.

Jiang Zheliu didn’t mind at all as he was already considered extremely lucky to be able to gain spiritual energy once more. He picked up Ling Xiao Sword from the sword holder, gliding his fingers over the icy scabbard, and felt a very familiar feeling.

This was the sword that had followed him for many years and was once a precious token of Ling Xiao Sect that had been passed down for generations. And now, he wondered if that lofty mountain gate that had the two words ‘Ling Xiao’ engraved upon it, was still standing on top of Miao Yun Mountain.

He gripped the scabbard and pulled out the sword by half an inch. The patterns on the sword faded, and reflected an eerie sharpness from the moonlight, but this light only reflected for a moment before it was contained once more in the sword.

Jiang Zheliu lifted up his finger and infused a thread of spiritual energy into the sword body, Ling Xiao sword immediately let out a deep and lingering sound, as if it had been excited about being able to see the light again.

A sense of delight resonated from the sword.

Jiang Zheliu gazed at it for a while and had still not put the sword back in its scabbard when he felt a pair of hands loop around his waist from behind, as a light scent of pine and cypress surrounded him.

He knew who it was and he didn’t not flinch. Wenren Ye got up close to his ear and with astonishment in his voice, he asked.

“You’re able to get out of bed?”

“……..” Jiang Zheliu put the sword away in its scabbard, “are you disappointed?”

Thanks to Wenren Ye’s care and prudence, although he felt tired, he actually only hurt his back and that place, nothing else hurt. Although he was still made to cry, at least he didn’t break apart.

“I just think it’s strange.” The little devil’s breath was blowing on the base of his ear, making it warm and red, and a little itchy. “Are you really…. Getting better?”

He couldn’t tell the difference between reality and his own illusions. A small crack was pried open in his morbid paranoia that he had been experiencing like a ray of light reflecting into the darkness.

He was slightly awakened by Jiang Zheliu’s intentions …… Jiang ~ Zheliu had really got a little better, and the Little Willow had proven it to him in a very unusual way.

“En.” Jiang Zheliu replied, “So you don’t need to be so fearful, I won’t break if you…… touch me, you…..”

He turned around, only finishing half his sentence, he had swept up into Wenren Ye’s arms. Even the Ling Xiao sword in his hand was taken off his hands and placed to the side.

When the little devil picked him up, he did it very delicately, not making him feel uncomfortable at all. However, this behaviour would not have been what Jiang Zheliu had expected, so he was surprised.

“Now you shouldn’t go running about on your own.” Wenren Ye said with much persistence, “I’ve finally got you to improve a little, we’re finally seeing results, let’s not ruin it.”

….. It seemed to have produced the opposite effect.

There were children in the Jingshan Hall to prepare the medicine, two Daoist children to be exact. They were the two thousand-year-old ginseng children who had also been brought to the Devil Realm. So even if the medicine stove was not visible in the hall, Jiang Zheliu’s medicine was always brought in promptly every time, at the right temperature, accompanied by a few cakes and candied fruits.

It was just that last night, Chang Qian was guarding the door and there was a lot of noise inside that no one dared to go inside to disturb them, and the medicine was missed.

This was a new prescription from Yu Jinnian, it was just a very normal tonic for recovery, all the ingredients were carefully selected so naturally the results were also good.

When Wenren Ye entered, he had brought the medicine with him. He put the little willow that had been freshly sprouted back in the bed, he poured out a cup of the medicine and took it to his beloved sitting down beside him.

Jiang Zheliu watched his fluid movements, and stared at the devil horns on his head that had red veins glowing all over them.

“Stop being so wilful.” The little devil lectured him, “you just got a bit better and came to seduce me. If I hurt you, what would I do? If you are not here, I won’t be able to control myself.”

Every word he said was true. The last sentence was as realistic as it could be. If Wenren Ye could not control himself, it wouldn’t be simply destroying Jingshan Hall or even flattening the Devil Realm.

Jiang Zheliu sighed and said: “I just wanted you to stop being so sensitive.”

Wenren Ye was used to blowing his medicine before delivering it to his lips.

Once again, this method of feeding was like both his hands were disabled. Jiang Zheliu helplessly lowered his head and drank it down, frowning in discomfort at the bitterness after having drunk sugar water for the last few days.

“When you get better.” The little devil fed him some candy, and said earnestly, “You can do whatever you want.”

Who knows how much he’d need to recover for Wenren Ye to be able to see it and how long it would take. Would he have to wait until he is at the peak of his cultivation once more and fight the Little Devil to break the illusionary barrier in the latter’s mind?

This was the last resort, and the longest and most thorough method. But given the state of Wenren Ye’s mind which was still being affected by the Dao seed of slaughter, he did not know if Wenren Ye would be able to wait until that day.

The other party said it with extreme seriousness, he was not joking at all. Jiang Zheliu, however, got a headache listening to him, he massaged his temples and said: ”Let me do whatever I want. I want to leave the Devil Realm and travel around the Mortal Realm, to get some air in the Cultivation World, and I want to cultivate again, but you definitely won’t allow it …… you’re just saying this …….. To butter me up?”

The little devil’s movements halted and his violet eyes looked at him.

Only then did Jiang Zheliu realise that he had just gone a little too far with that remark. He thought of Wenren Ye spending eighty years in his own hallucinations, and his present difficulty in freeing himself and his single-mindedness, Jiang Zheliu could hardly bear it.

But he didn’t want to argue with Wenren Ye, and he didn’t want to upset him either, so he explained in a warm and harmonious tone: “No, don’t overthink it. The Devil Realm is great.”

This reassurance was out of place. But Jiang Zheliu was in a bad mood and could not think of anything more useful to say at the moment, so he just finished the bowl of medicine.

He lit a candle and started to read. Beside him was the Ling Xiao Sword, which had only just resounded today. Wenren Ye sat beside him, not speaking.

The hall fell silent for a long, long time.

Jiang Zheliu couldn’t really get into his book, but he forced himself to be still and concentrate, searching through his slightly blurred memories for a way to stabilise his dao heart. Wenren Ye did not know what he was thinking about, his hand was on the edge of the bed, his clothes still on, and he had no intention of sleeping beside him.

They were in a stalemate.

Ever since Jiang Zheliu had woken up, the situation had become very strange. Wenren Ye was hell bent on getting him better, whilst all he could think about was the little devil’s dao heart and hallucination’s issues. There was still some conflicts between them that needed to be resolved.

One had a problem with his health and the other with his head, and there was not even any communication about their respective conditions.

In short, the current situation was that they both wanted to cure each other, but the conflict between them either stemmed from the clash between the Little Devil’s illusion and reality, and from Jiang Zheliu’s inevitable worry as he thought about countermeasures.

Until he no longer turned any pages of the book in his hands.

Wenren Ye’s breath approached as he leaned closer to the little willow tree; he stared at the book for a while and then said in a quiet voice: “Clear Mind Method?”

This time it wasn’t a fiction novel wrapped up in a different book cover, it was a real Cultivation classic.

“…….En.” Jiang Zheliu said, “A common technique used by human cultivators to stabilise their dao hearts.”

“…….. What you just said, is that true?”

Jiang Zheliu lifted his eyes and looked at him, not directly answering his question.

The little devil lowered his head to brush against him, rubbing Jiang Zheliu’s forehead with his hard devil horns that had glowing blood markings upon it.

His hand smoothed down the snowy hair that had fallen out of place, running the icy cold glossy strands between his fingers.

“Do you want to leave the Devil Realm?”

Jiang Zheliu looked at him and said: “I haven’t even left Jingshan Hall once.”

“It’s windy in the Devil Realm.” Wenren Ye said without thinking, “there’s a lot of dust and gravel in the wind, what if they hurt you?”

Jiang Zheliu listened silently, thinking that he was worse than a papier-mache man in Wenren Ye’s mind.

But Wenren Ye soon realised that the other party did not want to hear this from him, and said, “Now that you are better, I can accompany you out.”

“Trap me?” Jiang Zheliu put his book down, ready to theorise with his young lover, “My health has already improved, Yu Jinnian and He Tan have healed my broken meridians and weak divine soul, and I can cultivate again. Can you listen to some of what I’m saying?”

The little devil stared at him quietly for a long time before saying, “So, you want to leave me?”

Jiang Zheliu: “…….”

Although he knew that the little devil was very ill, he thought that the other party was just too immersed in his illusions and did not expect it was so serious that there was no way of communicating with him.

Jiang Zheliu could not understand the logic of his question and continued to explain, “I am not trying to leave you, but I want to cultivate again, I want to see again this world that you have transformed. I do not want to be enclosed in your palace. Nor do I want you to torture yourself by continuing to be stuck in a reality that only exists in your head.”

Not only was he torturing himself, he was also torturing Jiang Zheliu. He was going to have problems with his own brain if he continued to be taken care of by Wenren Ye in such an excessive manner.

Jiang Zheliu spoke in a calm tone, and his voice did not carry any special emotion, just telling him these words. But Wenren Ye’s fragile nerves were still touched, and he felt deeply hurt.

“Do you think I am imprisoning you here?” He asked.

Jiang Zheliu was speechless, he watched the other party’s eyes droop slightly, Wenren Ye’s expression much darker, and Jiang Zheliu felt an inexplicably strange feeling of guilt well up from his heart.

It shouldn’t be this way, it was clearly him who was trapped, so why was also he who felt heartbroken.

Hearing no reply, Wenren Ye made a great compromise and said in a reluctant tone, “I will accompany you wherever you wish to go. But you must take care of yourself.”

Without waiting for Jiang Zheliu to reply, he moved a little closer, lowering his voice which brought a hint of sadness.

“I’m going to kiss you, don’t say anymore about it.”

Jiang Zheliu didn’t know what to say anymore as he was gently kissed on the lips, a lingering and tender kiss that interrupted all those thoughts in his head.

…… What could he do?

Jiang Zheliu was pushed down on the bed, his fingers gathered in the little devil’s warm palm, as the latter brushed past his knuckles, and his fingers interlocked with the other’s fingers, and was pressed down against the pillow.

The way he acted was very gentle, but the strength he used was the kind of strength that Jiang Zheliu could not easily struggle free from. He was clearly not asking him to stop talking, but clearly using kissing as a tactic to not allow him to say anything else.

Jiang Zheliu had no choice but to let Wenren Ye kiss him all over, before finally withdrawing from their interlocking breaths, just in time to avoid this evolving into something else, his voice slightly muffled as he regulated his breath: “Don’t make a fuss …… my back hurts.”
