Jingshan Hall’s water prison had been built recently, there was never this kind of thing before.

Jiang Zheliu could only leave when the little devil had gone out. He had two devil generals accompanying him. There was Shi Binghen, who was dressed in red and carrying a double edged sword and was talking non-stop and Gongyi Yan who was still wearing her face mask and changpao with a sword on her back.

They were extra careful with their Devil Queen, no less respectful than how they would treat their Devil Lord. The two of them followed behind anxiously, one male and one female, the grandeur was ample, looking like the ‘male and female double assassins’1.

The stone staircase wound round and round on the way down, with no candles illuminating it on either side.

Jiang Zheliu was holding a lantern and walking slowly down the dark stone steps until he stopped in front of a platform and saw a pool of ice cold water, and in the middle of that pool was a spread of iron chains.

It was a little cold down there. Gongyi Yan silently took out a white cloak from her storage device and draped it over his shoulders and then took the lantern from his hand.

Shi Binghen who was standing besides them stared at her with bewilderment, but was only met with the expressionless mask covering his colleague’s face.

It seemed that when the devils were near their Devil Queen, there was something strange that would happen that could trigger this feeling within them that they ‘must take care of him’, even though they knew that he belonged to their Devil Lord, it was something that was not in their control.

Shi Binghen only glanced over at her, and did not do anything else. He immediately turned his gaze over and focused on the figure in chains.

Although, one said that it was a figure, in reality, a blurred shadow was more appropriate, as that person was submerged in the water, and they could only see the back of his hand which was riddled with scars.

But the devils had never visited him, these were all self-inflicted scars.

Jiang Zheliu stood on the stone platform, and stared silently for a long time before finally saying: “Pavilion Lord Wang.”

The chains moved, and a pair of bloodshot eyes revealed themselves from beneath the water.

The gaze fell upon Jiang Zheliu, the gaze was peculiar, twisted, terrifying and a little sick, as if he had seen something that had destroyed his entire life.

Very quickly, his gaze turned into dread, into fear. Suddenly, he tried to pull his gaze away, looking all around him, feeling a strange kind of discomfort, but in the end, his gaze fell back upon Jiang Zheliu.

A hoarse voice came forth.

“Jiang Zheliu.”

“En.” The person who had been called by his full name, answered him calmly, “It’s been a long time.”

“It truly has been too long.” Wang Wenyuan laughed out loud in a husky voice, he didn’t seem like he was having any mental issues at this moment when he spoke, “But I don’t want to see you, I want you to die.”

This was truly a little cold. Jiang Zheliu blew on his hand and then rubbed his fingers together, and then asked.

“There were no past grievances, there is no animosity today, why must you be like this?”

“Could we be considered as having no grievances in the past?” Wang Wenyuan asked.

He submerged himself in the water, it was not possible to see his face. In reality, he did not have any injuries on his body, it was just that he had been imprisoned for a long time so his eyes had become incredibly sensitive to the light.

“So what?” Jiang Zheliu said quietly, “let you transfer your impotent rage for yourself onto me, and then blame me for it as well?”

Wang Wenyuan didn’t speak.

He stared at him through his bloodshot eyes, as if he was calling into question his own divination technique, but when he looked at the other party, there was a sort of relaxing feeling like “so it’s indeed like this”. He just felt furious that his plan had been thwarted, but then he released all the thoughts in his mind and pulled violently at his chains.

Jiang Zheliu had truly come back from death’s door, perhaps, the prophecy that the little Buddhist monk had never told him was also like this.

He Sorsi was a vile person and he didn’t like what Wang Wenyuan had done to the little monk. During the lengthy time that they “worked together”, the Ghost Lord had flamed his anger, aroused his hatred towards Jiang Zheliu, and blamed his father’s death on Jiang Zheliu.

But all this was also in accordance with what Wang Wenyuan was thinking inside. In his mind, this Jiang Qianbei had always been the evil culprit who had murdered his father, and he had held on to this thought whilst falling down the path of evil until that ghost cultivator corrobborated the truth to him.

No, that wasn’t the truth. He’d fallen into the same kind of doubt that Wenren Ye was suffering from. He didn’t believe it.

To deceive others is to deceive oneself, he was still unable to avoid the endless pondering and investigation.

“I don’t understand your wrath.” Jiang Zheliu looked at him as he spoke, “The only thing you know about your loved ones, is what benefit they have to you right? Regarding those who have an irksome presence, those who are in the way, those who you cannot benefit from, they are not your loved ones but they are dogs beneath your feet.”

He was also somewhat aware of the relationship between Yu Jinnian and er-shaoye.

He stared at the two eyes on the surface of the water.

Wang Wenyuan was also staring back at him slightly, until he suddenly peeled away his gaze and the sound of his chains sounded suddenly, there was a clanging sound coming from beneath the water, and then, fresh bright red blood began to disperse in the pool.

Jiang Zheliu’s facial expression did not change, watching as the lunatic in the water mutilated his own body.

He could imagine how much time Wang Wenyuan had had to think in this endless silence and cold, but it was exactly this long period of thought that had led to his state of mind to crumble more and more and made him lose the ability to calmly think properly.

Jiang Zheliu waited for him to calm down before he spoke again: “According to your divinations, what will happen to Wenren Ye?”

The other did not speak at first, he waited for a long time and then finally heard Wang Wenyuan’s hoarse voice.

“He will also die.”

Jiang He looked at him calmly, the hands that he was rubbing together slowly stopped in their tracks.

“Just look at his current condition, does he look like someone who has life as long as the heavens?” He ridiculed, “The road to Golden Immortality is challenging, after that how many righteous cultivators have died on the way to achieving Dao Fusion. Even if you recultivate again, you may also not be able to achieve it. He’s a blood-thirsty devil so how could he enter the ranks of heaven, it’s simply a pipedream.”

“Who knows if it’s the Dao seed of slaughter which will consume him and make him go insane and die, or will it be due to the heavenly tribulation where he falls into the flaming calamity.”

The water rippled layer after layer.

He watched Jiang Zheliu’s face, trying hard to monitor his reaction, but even under careful examination, he did not find any trace of change in Jiang Zheliu’s expressions. With disappointment, he didn’t forget to add: “It looks like the Devil Lord is just a passing fad for you, you don’t really care about him at all.”

Jiang Zheliu curled up his icy cold fingertips into his palm and then pulled his hand back into his sleeve, and then raised his eyes to look at him, and replied calmly: “Your hexagrams are inaccurate.”

Wang Wenyuan was immediately exasperated by this and had no retort.

” “Since you say this.” Jiang Zheliu said, “he will definitely be safe and sound.”

Jiang Zheliu wasn’t willing to have any further interaction with this person, in fact, at this moment, this person was not in a particularly bad state of mind, however, it was always uncomfortable to interact with someone who had always been extreme to start with.

Jiang Zheliu turned around, just as he was about to leave, he suddenly thought of something and he pulled out a dagger from his sleeve.

It was not a precious weapon, it was just a very ordinary run of the mill dagger.

He reached out and threw it into the water, and watched as the dagger sunk into the depths of the pool.

“The answer that you wanted, you have already seen.” Jiang Zheliu, “don’t suffer anymore, you have always understood inside, that I am the one who is right.”

“There is a flaw in Tianji Pavilion’s cultivation method, meaning there is a high chance of qi deviation. Since you have cultivated to this point, you must have already noticed it. You have just forced yourself to put all your hate on me, in order to support your own extreme beliefs.” His voice was very beautiful, and created some echoes beneath the floor, “If I didn’t kill him that day, then Tianji Pavilion’s reputation would have been completely destroyed and everyone would have been suspicious. You are my junior, and you are very clever, I thought that you could have understood this.”

He turned around and left the stone platform. Behind him, a violent thrashing and shouting could be heard, as the water rippled.

Jiang Zheliu did not turn around, and just continued all the way back to Jingshan Hall. He gave his thanks to Shi Binghen and Gongyi Yan, and he was about to take back the lantern in Gongyi Yan’s hand when he saw that the two great devils were staring very vigilantly and respectfully at someone behind him, and they also couldn’t help retreating a few steps backwards.

…… Huh?

Jiang Zheliu didn’t have the chance to turn around when he was swept up into a tight embrace, and he heard the little devil’s deep voice.

“Why did you go out?”

Wenren Ye was extremely displeased and aggravated, whilst at the same time blaming himself, and his tone was strongly enraged.

“Can you be good, I told you to stay put and sleep, it’s windy in the Devil Realm.”

Wenren Ye reached out to fix Jiang Zheliu’s cloak, his eyebrows locked in a frown, giving a deathly stare to Shi Binghen and Gongyi Yan.

He could only listen to him. Jiang Zheliu had always thought of himself as the mature one, so he was happy to compromise, so he said: “Well why don’t you carry me inside.”

Only after hearing these words did the little devil’s mood alleviate slightly. He turned around and carried Jiang Zheliu into the hall, walked around the screen and put him back on the bed.

There were candles lit in the hall which created shadows as the light flickered.

“Can you not go running around outside? Your health is still in a bad state but you don’t seem to think it’s serious at all.” Wenren Ye started to nag, it seemed he was still extremely displeased, “What would you do if you fell, or if you got too tired and you didn’t wake up again for a long time what would happen then….”

He knelt down and helped his beloved remove his boots, and was just about to get up but Jiang Zheliu looped his arms around his neck.

The little devil was afraid of jerking his arms so he did not move away and just let the little willow tree pull at his collar as he slowly looked over at him.

His eyes were shining as bright as stars.

“Come here.” Jiang Zheliu said in a low voice, “take off your clothes.”
