Mr. Zhou Doesn’t Want to Work Hard Anymore

Chapter 28

As expected, the next second a few bodyguards rushed up and pressed the man to the ground efficiently.

Even so, Zhou Chenxi still had an additional bloody red scratch on his neck.

That man’s nails were too sharp and when he struggled, he scratched Zhou Chenxi’s skin.

The bodyguard took control of the man and ripped off his mask. Zhou Chenxi realized that the other party looked familiar but he seemed to have seen him somewhere before.

Not good!

Zhou Chenxi instantly thought of his brother. His previous life has made him extremely sensitive—— Will Gege be alright?

Zhou Chenxi shouted, “Bodyguard Da Ge (Big Brother Bodyguard), take him to the local police station! Don’t let him get away!”

After saying that, he hurriedly ran out of the airport and prepared himself to take a taxi to his brother’s office.

“Little Young master!” One of the bodyguards was startled, fearing that something might happen to him on the way to the office so he instructed the others to keep an eye on the suspect and he himself caught up to Zhou Chenxi.

When we got a ride and arrived at Zhou Xin, Zhou Mingxuan was coming out of a meeting and he looked fine, walking with a style and wearing a formal suit.

“Xixi?” On the contrary, Zhou Mingxuan was stunned for a moment when he saw Zhou Chenxi’s sorry state. He glanced at the wound on his neck, his expression changed, “What happened?”

The bodyguard was about to come up and explain, however he heard Zhou Chenxi say, “Oh no, Lu Zong!”

The bodyguard had an unspeakable trouble and there was not enough time for him to explain so he left a sentence: “Mr. Zhou, I’ll talk about it when we get back!”

He hurriedly chased after Zhou Chenxi.

Zhou Mingxuan noticed that there was only one person left behind Zhou Chenxi and quickly said, “Contact the other bodyguards to see what’s going on and order two more people to follow the little young master.”

The man in the back responded and did as he was told very quickly.

Zhou Chenxi took a ride to the hospital and found Lu Ji just about to prepare to be discharged from the hospital.

He had rested enough, only needing to recuperate from his injuries slowly at home, but there were still many things waiting for him to do, so he couldn’t delay.

Lu Ji was packing his things when he heard his bodyguard outside shouting, “Wait, wait!”

Then a young man barged in.

Lu Ji turned his head to look and said in surprise, “Chenxi?”

Zhou Chenxi’s hair was messy, blown out by wind and his clothes were wrinkled. He was wearing a milk-white color t-shirt with short light flaxen hair and red lips and white teeth.

Zhou Chenxi looked Lu Ji up and down and let out a sigh of relief: “It’s good that you’re okay.”

“What’s wrong?” Lu Ji also frowned when he saw the wound on Zhou Chenxi’s neck. He waved his hand to his bodyguard who rushed behind Zhou Chenxi in order to stop him, signaling to the bodyguard to step back, “What happened to you?”

Zhou Chenxi sat down, he told him what had happened to him at the airport today.

“There’s surveillance at the airport so he can’t deny it. I’ve already had him sent to the police station. I don’t know who he is, but when the time comes, we will have to ask him a lot of questions.”

He didn’t have time to ask why behind Zhou Chenxi, he was followed by so many bodyguards. He stretched out his uninjured hand to touch the red mark on Zhou Chenxi’s neck.

Zhou Chenxi itched a little as he shrank back slightly. His lips pursed, showing a little dimple:  “It’s okay! People with white skin easily have the scar left but it’ll heal soon!”

He pretended to be relaxed, not wanting to let Lu Ji worry. Lu Ji withdrew his hand and said heavily, “I’ll find and ask the lawyer first.”

Zhou Chenxi then didn’t leave the ward, waiting for Lu Ji to call for the lawyer and send him to go to the police station to find out more about the situation.

It so happened that those bodyguards of Zhou Chenxi sent the man to the police station, even though he was caught red-handed but because it did not result in any serious consequences, he almost got the police to let him go because of his dishonest rhetoric. Fortunately, Lu Ji’s lawyer arrived just in time. Only then he was temporarily detained for obstructing public safety.

Lu Ji returned from having a few phone calls and said to Zhou Chenxi, “I’ve already had someone check his background. He used to be a cast and crew program team. He received some help from Luo Xinghe. Later he played some small role but he couldn’t make a name for himself and was introduced by Luo Xinghe to Luo Xingzhou’s company.”

“Is it indeed really related to Luo Xinghe?” Zhou Chenxi murmured.

“That’s not all,” Lu Ji gave him a look and added, “My agent also found out that this person has recently returned to work as a crew member but it’s all behind-the-scenes work, he worked as a set assistant on the show《I’m the real Actor》.There are several other jobs on his resume but all related to work that Luo Xinghe was involved in.”

Zhou Chenxi was surprised.

“Lu Group has been involved in all of these shows, films and dramas. For shows like《I’m the real Actor》,Lu Group keeps an extra roster of staff, so you can find out if the person has been on the set or not with a simple search.”

No wonder the results of Lu Ji’s investigation came out so quickly, probably because he had precautions in advance.

“So, all of those things that happened to me was because Luo Xinghe instructed someone else to do it?”

“Luo Xinghe won’t admit it because there’s no evidence. Even if we catch the culprit, he’ll soon be able to get himself off.”

Zhou Chenxi was a little disappointed.

“But there’s still a way we can make him become a suspect.” Lu Ji smiled faintly.

He quickly called and contacted the PR department, putting them in charge of writing articles to buy off marketing ID and spreading rumours one after another about Luo Xinghe victimising his co-stars.

Originally, Huang Tian wanted to protect Luo Xinghe but because Luo Xingzhou had an accident, they were afraid of being dragged down by Lu Ji too, so they were particularly afraid of the consequences.

Together, Huang Tian and Luo Xing Group might still be able to compete with the Lu Clan, but with Luo Xingzhou being ambushed by Lu Ji, Huang Tian would not dare to compete against the Lu Clan again.

For so many years, Huang Tian had been treating Luo Xinghe as the number one artist of the company. Ultimately because Luo Xingzhou has channeled a lot of benefits behind the scenes, such as investing in a bad drama of Huang Tian from time to time and giving a little support to Huang Tian’s artists from time to time.

Now they are facing imminent calamity as they fly on their own, without Luo Xingzhou, Luo Xinghe has become a hot potato (figurative for trouble/headache). No matter how many Lu Ji bought the anti fans army online to vilify him, they did not dare to post even one nonsense hastily.

Previously, in Luo Ji’s car accident’s case because of the lack of evidence, Luo Xinghe was only questioned by the police for a while and then released. When he saw the black posts (slanderous and false gossip) all over the internet, he was so angry that he called his agent and asked him, “Why don’t you get someone to delete the posts and control the comments?”

His agent was also helpless at the moment: “I’ve tried to find someone to think of a way but now no one is willing to take our orders.”

“What about the company?”

“The company side said they would think of a way.”

Luo Xinghe had already lived two lifetimes, and once he heard this wording, he already knew what he meant.

After all, they had been working together for many years, once Luo Xinghe only scolded him for being ‘Useless!’ and he then went to the company to talk to the person in charge.

The Special Assistant of the Huang Tian’s (Remember, the agency name) Chairman used to be in the fashion circle, dressed in flashy clothes, he came out and received Luo Xinghe personally. He poured a cup of coffee for Luo Xinghe as he raising his little finger: “Aiya, Mr. Huang is away on a business trip. Now, we are making arrangements for this matter. Don’t worry, Xinghe! Aren’t we trying to think of the solution?”

How could they take time to figure out what to do when it comes to public opinion?

If they kept delaying it again and again, the matter could no longer be fixed.

Luo Xinghe said angrily, “Are you sure you guys won’t (keep) protect me anymore?”

The special assistant only laughed: “What are you talking about? You’re a highly sought-after person in our company. Moreover, Mr. Huang has brought you along to several company planning meetings. You’ve seen it! When is the time you are not the first one to pick those many great resources? Which other artist in the company has been treated like you?”

That was once upon a time.

Previously Luo Xinghe was powerful and could do whatever he wanted in the company.

However, times have changed.

He knew that if he continued like this, there would be no more resources for him to take in the (entertainment) circle.

“You guys just wait!” Luo Xinghe stood up and coldly dropped a harsh sentence,”One day you guys will regret it!”

After saying that he left the special assistant’s office and walked away without looking back.

After staying in the hospital all afternoon, only then Zhou Chenxi came back to his senses.

He landed early in the morning on a return flight arranged for him by the program team and rushed from his brother’s office to the hospital without picking up anything. Now, he hadn’t even explained everything to his brother yet he had been sitting here all afternoon.

Gege must have been anxious.

Moreover Lu Ji also looked like he was going to be discharged from the hospital, so wasn’t he disturbing him too much by being here?

Zhou Chenxi stood up and said, “I was too impulsive for a moment, since you’re fine, then I’ll leave first.”

Lu Ji: “You won’t accompany me out of the hospital?”

Zhou Chenxi was stunned for a moment.

Lu Ji smiled: “The auntie at home has made some tamagoyaki (鸡蛋烧), do you want to go back together with me to try it?”

Zhou Chenxi was stunned.

Is Lu Zong inviting me to be a guest at his house?

It was really tempting!

But he hadn’t explained anything to his brother yet!

“Mr. Lu!” Lu Ji’s bodyguard came in from outside and knocked on the door.

Lu Ji turned his head and gestured to him to say it quickly.

The bodyguard stepped aside to reveal three husky fellows standing behind him. The heights were taller one after another, one body was superior and the other was sturdy. Standing behind Lu Ji’s bodyguard, they were not inferior in any respect: “These three men said … they are Mr. Zhou’s bodyguards, this …”

Zhou Chenxi was busy coming out to help to resolve the dispute: “It’s me, it’s me! It’s my brother who hired them for me. They’re not bad people, it’s just that my brother knows it’s not safe these days so he has been letting them follow me here!”

Lu Ji often heard Zhou Chenxi mention his brother but he didn’t know who his brother was. He only knew that he doted on Zhou Chenxi. The other side probably took a lot of effort (to protect him) so Lu Ji said, “It’s okay, let them stay here!”

“But Lu Zong …” The bodyguard was more worried about Lu Ji’s safety.

After all, these three seem to be tall and strong. There were only a few bodyguards around Lu Ji, so it was not certain who could win if they seriously fought each other in a real fight.

Lu Ji waved his hand: “It’s alright! Go and do your work.”

The bodyguard had no other choice but to withdraw.

Outside the door were three big men against one and soon afterwards the other bodyguards of the Lu family rushed over after receiving the message —— the one on duty called for his other brothers.

There were four bodyguards on duty, and now all of them were there, standing face to face in two rows of three against four, all staring intently at each other like a tiger watching his prey.

Zhou Chenxi was still unaware of the bloodshed outside the door and enthusiastically offered to help Lu Ji carry his luggage: “Lu Zong, I’ll do it! Your hand is injured, don’t let your wound hurt again!”

Lu Ji had already sent a text message to his assistant to come up and pick him up, but as soon as the assistant appeared at the door, he was driven out by Lu Ji using a gesture behind his back.

Lu Ji stretched out his eyebrows and said gently, “Then I’ll trouble you, Chenxi.”

“No trouble, no trouble!” Zhou Chenxi happily carried Lu Ji’s small suitcase out, “Previously, you helped me carry my luggage in the show, this time it’s my turn to help you!”

The two of them emerged from the hospital room, all of a sudden the tense atmosphere from outside the door dissipated, like a punctured balloon.

Zhou Chenxi was completely unaware of this and said to one of the bodyguards, “Zhao Yi, I’ll contact my brother later. For now I’ll take Lu Zong home, so you and Qian Er can go back together first.”

Zhao Yi and Qian Er looked at each other and spoke in unison, “But …”

“I’ll be home later!” Zhou Chenxi waved his hand, “Just let Sun San follow me then it will be okay. There are so many people on Lu Zong’s side, it’s very safe, so you guys don’t need to worry! Li Si and the others should be back from the police station soon, right?”

Li Si was one of the bodyguards who previously sent the thugs to the local police station from the airport.

Zhao Yi and Qian Er made eye contact.

They were originally from Zhou Mingxuan’s side, just because Zhou Mingxuan saw that Zhou Chenxi only had one bodyguard left around, temporarily sent them to cover and now Zhou Mingxuan has fewer people around, they really should go back.

But the situation at hand made them have no room to advance or to retreat.

[进退两难/ jìn tuì liǎng nán : no room to advance or to retreat (idiom); without any way out of a dilemma / trapped / in an impossible situation]

No, this situation must be reported to Mr. Zhou.

What kind of ability did this Lu Ji have? —— Although they know that Lu Ji was Lu Group’s CEO——  Where did he get such charisma? He had charmed the little young master even to the extent that he had been hanging around him for the entire afternoon?

This situation is too serious.

They have to be careful.

Otherwise things are going to be big!
