Mmorpg: Unity

Chapter 70 - Where the dead lie.

A dark morning had befallen Arcadia city, a dark cloud flowed in the streets, tears falling like rain from the faces of the people all dressed in uniform. a one thousand strong funeral procession was moving through the city. A wash of figures dressed in mourning white attire with a red trimming as is tradition in the Legion. The flute was being played by a young Satyr accompanied by the gentle humming of the legion.

The sigil of Grekos was being conjured into the sky, by one of the fifty people who had been summoned by Kings squad first star general Sergain. He was also the one who used his personal influence to ensure that beast pulling the coffins were the magnificent brown horse, strong noble and shockingly powerful. Each of their footsteps was like a drum pounding the ground.

The song is a tribute to fallen hero's of a bygone era. The deep bellows of the soldiers filled the alleyways for miles in front. A dark hue casket with purple gold trimming and a clear top. The top was clear enough to see through, inside the body is perfectly preserved. Dinga looked in death as he did in life a somewhat good looking fellow.

A blanket with his house Sigil was covering him to his shoulders. The casket was being carried by Dinga's fiends from his squad, while none of them appeared particularly sad the mood was not a jovial either. They were mostly at the back of the procession.

Further ahead the support army is weeping as a large picture of Vusi is being held up, the frame made of flowers. The whole mood here is one of genuine sorrow, many people who written their last words and placed it on his casket. His personality had meant that even if you had only meet the man briefly he had an unforgettable quality about him to along with his ability to make friends in a genuine manner.

Julee eyes are puffy and red she had been crying non stop since the fight in the arena a week ago. The squad was all dressed in grey with a red ribbon.

As is the tradition of the Grekos Clan, they had heard from all the witnesses about how bravely and honorably Vusi had fought. the group had granted him a true afterlife his mana seed taken to be planted in the Hills of the Ecclesiastes. The influence of Grekos Clan meant that the general of Kings squad had to make sure they are properly taken care of.

He had even sent a group of men of about fifty to take both Bodies back. They had also managed to build to a scared casket for the body of Vusi. One of the men a distant uncle to both the boys was truly hurt, the future leaders of his clan had died young, the Grekos would enter a period of regression due to the lose.

The sky started turning over cast sharing the emotion of the people below. The casket had engraved runes polished wood ornaments, the trimming is made out of a special wood made from a tree found at the bottom of the endless ocean. The casket was fully covered due to fact that as a final insult the poison Dinga used caused the body of Vusi to crack and rot at an accelerated rate making Vusi's body unpleasant to be seen.

His casket was being carried by Shaka, Travis, Roger, Amihan and, Linga. Julee walked in front of them holding the last gift that Vusi had managed to get back for her.

Her family heirloom, the bladed staff once connected to the hilt that Vusi had gotten back, it had transformed to back to its original appearance.

Unlike before she also made sure to perform the blood binding ritual which transformed her sigil from the branch family's Stag with the horn into an oak tree with the roots forming an outline of four great beast representing the houses of Hinderburg Clan. Her blood unlocked various functions of the weapon and also allowed it to become a walking stick appearing to be an ancient dark wood found in the hills of the Ecclesiastes which belonged to a subservient family. The hills were the home of the first Treefolk who later gave birth to the lower race known as Dryad.

As the procession moved towards the edge of the city all but the fifty continued on with the caskets moving back towards Lu. The turning over of the bodies was the breaking point for Julee who broke and cried loudly the grief of her voice made ones mouth lose taste, making it difficult to swallow her pain could felt with each heart wrenching tear that fell from her face. The fifty men took the bodies of their family and headed back to Lu.

Julee was at the point of almost being inconsolable "He did not deserve to go out this way." She said wiping away the tears from her face, to no avail they flowed uncontrollably, her voice coarse from crying. "Nobody does," Travis had stretched out his arm to rest it on her shoulder drawing her for a hug. He was a ball of mixed emotion, "At least his seed will planted in that fancy you'll got back in Lu."

Roger who was still hanging his head low "Yeah i'm gonna miss him a lot." The whole group nodded in response to a comment that resonated deeply with each and everyone of them. They all stood their until the procession was out of sight. Travis said "We should head out soon, their is nothing left for us here anymore, plus the drink tastes like dust here." Shaka added "true all i taste in the food is salt." "I think we all need a change a from this place boss," Linga said as he too wiped away the tears from his face, sniffing deeply. Julee who was still sad had composed herself, an ineffable air had surrounded her, her grieve flowing into her magic.

"Lets move, I want to travel through the gate as soon as possible..."oof. One of the guards of Dinga had bumped into Julee, who proceeded to remove the fools head from his body without hesitation. The city guards quickly surrounded her "Miss your under arrest, please surrender yourself peaceful." Said a young guard, he barely looked sixteen his impressive frame a gift from the Gods.

Julee was about to swing her sword when Travis said "For now we can explain killing him however killing this boy will only give the boss trouble." Julee immediately without saying anything surrendered herself quietly thou the boy guard could not even lay a finger on her, She is for all intent and purpose walking herself to the guard house.

The rest of the guards business themselves with attending to the body of the deceased. They were all gripped by fear from the display Julee just put on. Shaka quickly prepared a sizable bag of about fifteen gold "Money talks in all societies."

"Now prepare for departure me and Julee will all you guys in Arcadia, no more killing this a tough enough day as it as for our squad."

The whole team responded in unison "Yes, Sir!" and moved to execute the orders given by Shaka their Capitan.

As Shaka moved towards the guard house a figure was following him, "I'm in no mood today, state your business and be done with it."

Travis came out of the shadows, before falling back into it, no words were needed Shaka, understood with his position he obviously couldn't walk around alone unguarded during such a dangerous time. Shaka arrived at the guard house and was directed towards the commandant general the overall head of the police force and knights watch and town militia.

"This is for you sir, a small token of respect for A man such as yourself." The small bag of fifteen gold was slipped carefully to the man, carefully that not even he realised until Shaka spoke to him. He ruffled his pockets his chubby hands easily counting each coin of the gold coins. As he begun to talk all of his chins began to move too. "Danke bruder, now if you wouldn't mind explaining why you are here."

His accent is as thick as walls every sigil fighting to be audible.

"Earlier today, one of my guards liberated a man of his life, I wish to "protect her" while the officials are still investigating, if you would so kind as to release her in my custody."

The Commandant was no fool he knew if he let her go they would flee, however the gold in pocket, "The man your guard killed had a wife and three children who need to be provided for, I cannot in good concise leave in your custody without a small deposit to ensure that she won't vanish from justice."

Another bag dropped this catching the attention of the guards in the room some of which had been at the site of the incident. "While I cannot excuse, my guards behaviour nor mine in this matter I hope this small gesture to family of your fallen comrade can provide a small comfort in the future." Shaka turned the Commandant unleashing a heavy killing aura "I hope the family gets this money."

The Commandant nearly exploded from the pressure Shaka released it was also at this moment that the guards were truly grateful, a man of Shaka's strength could have killed all of them on scene and fled with little to no reciprocation. People with power in this city tend to do as they please whenever they please. To terrified to move Shaka gave the the hundred gold coins to one of the other guard "Take it to his family and say it's from the Commandant because he is so heart broken, he feels the need to.ensure they never have to struggle again, isn't that right Commandant."

"Ja, ja, ja! Goed, make sure to hurry please, also bring out his guard immediately" said the Commandant as he barely managed to get the words out,the sweat pouring out of every roll of his body.

"No need i will follow you," Shaka pointed at the guard the Commandant had commanded and they walked out of the room together.

"Tell the kings guards we are unable to comply with orders due to the threat being to powerful, let's if they can take him head on." The Commandant said to his aide who walked as soon as Shaka walked out.

In the jail below Julee was fully dressed and still armed the guards had been to afraid to attempt to take them her weapons off her. The young guard stood watch as Shaka approached with a senior guard who promptly ordered the young to free the prisoner, "The Commandant has ordered her immediate release!"

A visible sense of shock had overcome the young guard he starting shaking as the rage boiled up in his body, "Sir...we can't just let them go she murdered..."

The young had known this was always a possibility people in power always use their connections to get out of trouble. He vowed he before he joined the guard that he would become Supreme Judgeknight and make wholesale changes however today he would have to grin and b.a.r.e it. "It won't always be like this one day I will make people like you pay for their crime." The young said to Julee as he let her out, "I'm sorry! mam this fool is New he does not know his place forgive him, Sir he just a boy still green under the collar."

Julee said "I look forward to the day."
