Yu Qiao begged the nurse and the doctors to let him see his father, which they agreed reluctantly. He is still under observation due to his minor head injury.

Before that, he needed to know what is going on. With Mo Lihua's eyes red, Yu Qiao also had the urge to break down and cry. His father was his only closest relative after all.

Through thick and thin, they are together. Yes, Yu Han is not a perfect father, but he still raised Yu Qiao alone.

"What has happened to my father?" Yu Qiao said, biting his bottom lip as he suppressed his emotion. "Lihua?"

"I think you better come with us, Brother Qiao," Mo Lihua said softly.

Yu Qiao nodded his head stiffly before he carefully stood from the bed and with Mo Lihua's assistance, they followed the nurse out of the room and into the bright hospital hallway.

Nurses and doctors hustled by as they slipped in and out of rooms like ghosts. He followed the nurse to the elevator, where they stood quietly side by side. The tension could cut like a knife.

The elevator climbed to the sixth floor, ICU, and Yu Qiao's heart sank further. He couldn't breathe. He held his breath completely until the doors opened. They stepped off into an all too quiet hallway with rooms made of glass. Each patient was being watched thoroughly. Upon looking up to the first visible room he saw his father in bed, incubated with monitors beeping all around him. He was perfectly still.

"I will leave you with the staff here who can answer your questions better." the nurse said as she turned and left. Yu Qiao stood outside of his father's room with Mo Lihua, looking at him as though he is a museum display.

Yu Han was lifeless and pale except for the bruises and cuts which had been dressed on his visible skin. Yu Qiao's hands shook.

What antics had he been up to to end up in ICU?

Did the people who took his father and godfather did the entire bruise and cut? Or his father just drank so much he had walked off of a cliff?

He had joked to his father about falling off the cliff, just a light warning because of his drunken stupor. Now, he regrets even mentioning it before.

Of course, upon further thought, Yu Qiao realized he didn't have much room to judge, considering his stupid actions when he is drunk.

He carefully took a few steps towards the glass wall, and reminded himself to breathe with every step.

What would he do without his father? He already lost his mother.

How could he take over the family business when his father had never allowed him to learn? Was he even capable?

Thoughts flooded Yu Qiao's mind as he approached the glass until all he could see was the frail body of a broken man.

Even though, Yu Han was still a man despite his condition and no man deserved to look so broken. His spirit was already practically dead and buried, but it must not have been enough.

Mo Lihua just silently stood beside Yu Han. She does not know how to talk to Yu Qiao at that moment as she is afraid to end up telling him everything.

That is her fault that his father is inside the ICU fighting for his life. It is her fault that Yu Qiao was injured and her father being held captive.

That also goes for Fei Yan that is also recovering on one of the rooms in the same hospital. Mo Lihua saw Fei Yan's injuries, and she is grateful that Piore found her before she ends up in a coma as well.

These are all her fault.

Just by thinking of this, Mo Lihua trembled as she discreetly moved behind Yu Qiao unable to stop the tears coming down from her eyes. All she can do is cover her mouth to avoid making a noise.

When she saw the doctor approached, Mo Lihua composed herself, but the red on her eyes cannot be removed easily by the handkerchief that is already wet from her tears.

A doctor approached them. "Are you Yu Qiao?" he asked.

Yu Qiao nodded, remembering to breathe once again. "Your father has taken quite a few injuries. I regret to inform you that he is in a coma and we are uncertain as to when he will, or if he will ever gain consciousness."

Dead but not...what a way to exist, in complete limbo with no experiences but not yet really dead? Yu Qiao didn't know what to say. He dreadfully processed what every word means.
