The young man had a soft and gentle appearance, with pleasing eyebrows and eyes that smiled with a slight sheen.

Jin Wang’s heart fluttered all at once, as if a small hammer had softly hit him, prompting a shallow ripple within him.

Jin Wang pressed down the throbbing in his heart and said casually, “Didn’t Gu tell you to have your meal on your own earlier? You clearly know this will delay Gu’s handling of state affairs.”

Ye Shu’s smiling eyes lowered, revealing a hint of nervousness. He pursed his lips and said in a low voice, “But…but one always needs to eat ah. I heard that Your Majesty has been busy with the state affairs since this afternoon and has not had a meal. How can your body bear it?”

“Are you worried about Gu?” Jin Wang asked.

Ye Shu lowered his head, his expression brought a trace of redness. “My heart burns for Your Majesty, so naturally I am worried.”

Jin Wang looked at him fixedly, seemingly judging the authenticity of these words.

After a while, he beckoned to Ye Shu. “Alright, come here.”

Ye Shu obediently walked over. Jin Wang took away the tiered food box with one hand and swept Ye Shu into his embrace with the other.

Jin Wang gently stroked the long hair draped behind the latter and asked, “You came here like this?”

Ye Shu pretended not to understand. “Is there anything wrong with this?”

“Letting your hair down is a neglect of decorum before the palace.”

Ye Shu innocently said, “But I didn’t know.”

“Gu left you a palace maid.”

“I don’t like the style they comb,” Ye Shu took out a jade hairpin from his bosom and stuffed it into Jin Wang’s hand. “I want Your Majesty to help me tie my hair.”

Since Jin Wang ascended the throne, no one had ever dared to make him do such a thing. He clutched the hairpin and laughed. “Ye Shu, you have a lot of nerve.”

Ye Shu and Jin Wang looked at each other for a moment, when the former’s eyes slightly narrowed and flashed with a bit of loss. “Then forget it… I just had a dream, recalling that when I was young, it was always Your Majesty who tied my hair……”

As he spoke, he tried to retrieve the jade hairpin from Jin Wang’s hand.

However, Jin Wang suddenly clenched his hand and held the jade hairpin tightly.

“Your Majesty?”

Jin Wang’s expression had completely sunk, and his voice turned cold, “Ye Qian, you seem to be thinking of testing Gu’s bottom line. Gu advises you to stop this, the sooner the better.”

Ye Shu’s eyelashes trembled slightly and he didn’t dare to answer.

He was indeed testing him.

Jin Wang had been acting very contradictorily. He treated Ye Shu with every possible consideration and indulgence because of his relationship with the original owner. But whenever Ye Shu brought up the past and played sycophant to him, he would display great resistance.

It was as if he didn’t want Ye Shu to mention it.

Ye Shu had no notion of what this man was thinking and thus he could only try to take chances. But……it seemed like this time his playing had gone too far.

This dog emperor’s mind was really hard to guess.

Jin Wang’s imposing manner was no longer gentle; those handsome eyebrows and eyes carried a trace of cold killing intent, like a true dragon whose reverse scale had been touched, finally revealing his fangs.

He clasped Ye Shu’s jaw with one hand, forcing the latter to look straight at him. “The fact that Gu treats you well is not a license for you to be boldly lawless. What Gu thinks has nothing to do with you, nor is it something you can explore.”

“Throughout the years, none of those who ventured to guess the mind of the Holy met a good end.”

“Ye Shu, you only have one life. Don’t play yourself out.”

The atmosphere in the imperial study suddenly became immensely heavy.

Ye Shu gazed at that pair of deep eyes, before looking down. “This subject understands, and won’t dare to do so in the future.”

Jin Wang loosened his hand, leaving two red marks on Ye Shu’s cheeks.

Ye Shu reached out and rubbed them, muttering, “Your Majesty, can’t we talk normally? Your grip hurts me.”

At such a time, he still didn’t forget to act soft.

Having spent more than a month with Jin Wang, this wasn’t the first time he had seen this attitude from the other party. This man could openly carry him into his bedchamber and kick him out the next second for something that didn’t go well.

The ruler is pitiless. No matter how Jin Wang dotes on him, he will not be foolish enough to think that it is heartfelt.

To put it frankly, this dog emperor only takes him as his lust reliever.

A well-behaved tool, indeed, should not do anything superfluous.

“Can’t,” Seeing Ye Shu’s submissiveness, Jin Wang’s expression, sure enough, eased up a bit. “You won’t be able to remember if Gu doesn’t do this. Not only that, Gu also has to punish you.”

Ye Shu asked, “Punish how?”

Jin Wang looked down and said nothing.

The young man’s complexion was still somewhat pale, and his bone cold hands, which he had just grasped, were all signs of frailty. Jin Wang pondered for a moment, pulled out a book from the table and threw it into Ye Shu’s arms, saying with unconcealed disapproval, “Gu would like to punish you. There are hundreds of punishments meted out by this palace. You can choose your own on which your lousy body can withstand.”

Ye Shu flipped open the book, conscientiously read a few pages, and then regrettably shook his head. “It seems that there are none.”

This body was indeed lousy. Ye Shu was afraid of the pain and was scared to death. It was very easy for him to be killed outright if Jin Wang really subjected him to torture.

But Jin Wang never wanted him to die. He laughed and said, “So that means Gu can’t punish you?”

Ye Shu tried, “Then how about…I continue to owe you?”

Jin Wang noncommittally said, “Owing this, owing that. You keep owing Gu more and more.”

“But what else can be done about it,” Ye Shu’s voice was warm and soft. “If this subject were to be tortured to death, who would serve Your Majesty ya?”

Jin Wang was momentarily at a loss for words.

In a short while, he smiled and lifted his hand, his fingertips gently rubbing the edge of Ye Shu’s lips. “This mouth of yours is so sweet ah. Gu likes it.”

Usually when this man said something like that, it meant that he had been forgiven.

Ye Shu’s heart rejoiced covertly and he was about to speak, only to hear Jin Wang add, “Gu has only yet to see how sweet it must be for an oral service.”

“………”

“??????” Oral? What the hell???!

Ye Shu’s expression stiffened, almost failing to pretend being meek, and said in an unsteady voice, “…Y-Your Majesty, t-t-this subject hasn’t learned that ah……”

“Then learn,” Jin Wang’s lips hooked up, a hint of teasing under his eyes. “Gu believes in you.”

When the lights in the imperial study gradually dimmed, Gao Jin then knocked on the door. “Your Majesty, the servants have come to replenish the lamps.”

There was no response from the inside.

After a few moments, Jin Wang’s muffled voice came, “Come in.”

Gao Jin led several palace maids with lamps into the imperial study. They uncovered the lamps and replaced them with new wicks. Gao Jin walked to the table, with a somewhat puzzled expression.

Under the lamp, the young ruler’s appearance was really handsome, but the roots of his ears were strangely tinged with a trace of crimson color.

He looked up and asked coldly, “What is it?”

“Answering Your Majesty, this humble servant remembered that the young master seems to have come to the imperial study, how come now……”

Upon returning to the imperial palace, it was inconvenient to address Ye Shu as the prime minister. Added to the fact that he had yet to be married, it was necessary to refer to him as the young master first.

As soon as Gao Jin’s voice fell, Jin Wang suddenly coughed, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, showing an indescribable strange look.

Gao Jin stood close, and out of the corner of his eyes, he unwittingly shot a glance underneath the table.

The table in the imperial study was covered with a long silk cloth, but at this time, the edge of this silk cloth was oddly hemmed by a section of plain clothes, seemingly familiar.

Gao Jin suddenly thought of something, and his face reddened in an instant.

Jin Wang’s eyes darkened. He gritted his teeth and said coldly, “Retreat. Get out, go.”

“Yes!” Gao Jin didn’t dare to delay, and promptly retreated together with the palace maids holding the lamps.

The door of the imperial study closed. Jin Wang narrowed his eyes and took a long breath before uncovering the silk cloth of the table.

The young man was kneeling down under the table, his breathing slightly unsteady, and his eyes, tinged with watery mist, were looking at Jin Wang with indignation.

Jin Wang was provoked by this look, a numbness spreading in the back of his head. He hurriedly pulled Ye Shu up and brought a cup of tea to his mouth. “Rinse your mouth.”

Ye Shu obediently did so, and with a bitter expression said, “You’re too much.”

Jin Wang said, “Who is too much, you caused Gu to……”

Jin Wang paused.

He didn’t expect that Ye Shu would be so nervous. When Gao Jin spoke just then, Ye Shu’s teeth trembled with fright which actually…actually…

…In a nutshell, it was a long, long story.

“Who was the one who let people in!” Ye Shu was stupefied by this man’s ability to make unfounded counter remarks, and complained in a hoarse voice, “Also, we clearly agreed not to let it out inside! Is there really such a thing as a ruler that never goes back on his word?!”

“Alright, it was Gu’s mistake,” Jin Wang took the man in his embrace and smoothed his hair. “Can Gu still make amends to you?”

“How can verbal reparations count? Can you take it back in when you do it next time?”

“This……”

Ye Shu’s eyes were red. “What, are you still not satiated?”

“Gu’s not…” Jin Wang couldn’t do anything about it and helplessly said, “Whatever you request, Gu will comply.”

Jin Wang put the tea aside and looked at the tiered food box Ye Shu had brought. “It’s all gotten cold now. Gu will ask someone to prepare some more. You should eat something.”

“Won’t eat,” Ye Shu rubbed his stomach and said weakly, “Your Majesty has already given me too much to eat anything else.”

Jin Wang paused for a moment before he realized what he meant. “…Ahem!”

Ye Shu looked at Jin Wang’s rare red ears and laughed heartily, holding his stomach. “Hahaha, is this Your Majesty blushing, ba? So Your Majesty also has such times. Reallyhmmmp—!!!”

Jin Wang couldn’t stand it and blocked his noisy mouth.

A few moments later, the servant standing guard outside the imperial study witnessed His Majesty, the ruler of the state, open the door and calmly carry a plain-clothed young man by his collar.

……Then, His Majesty bestowed him a reward and sent him in the imperial palanquin back to his bedchamber.
