Manaless Mage

166 New Skill: Danger sense!

  He tapped on the watch on his right hand, and within a second, a small holographic board appeared above the watch, containing a map of the beast forest and the different zones.

  Harry's eyes scrolled through the different zones, until his gaze stopped at a red zone not too far from his current position.

  His own position was displayed as a small blinking red dot, and it was in a dark orange zone, which signified that he was in the zone filled with more powerful stage two mana beasts.

  Currently, there were no more than six mana beasts in the beast forest, that were at the third stage.

  The number could still increase, as a few mana beasts in the late second stage could still break through to the third stage later in the future.

  Unlike stage two mana beasts, the ones at the third stage were more territorial, and were known to contain fewer beasts of the lower stages.

  This was something common in mana beasts across stages, the higher the stage , the more territorial they tend to be.

  As Harry's eyes locked on the red demarcated area glowing dimly on the map, a slight smile appeared on his face.

  'I've been fighting only stage two mana beasts all these time, and they are now so easy for me to defeat.' He thought. 'With how strong I am now, I believe I'm powerful enough to face stage three mana beasts.'

  If he kept on facing stage two mana beasts who were too easy for him to defeat, his growth would definitely become stagnated.

  'Maybe I should distribute my stat points first…' Harry thought. Just in case he was being too overconfident in his abilities, Harry decided to first allocate his stat points, not all the point of course, as he still wanted to save some.

  He had never faced a stage three beasts before, but from what he knew the power gap only got larger between each stage, and it was best to be prepared beforehand.

  'Host stats.' He said inwardly, and a familiar set of tabs appeared in front of his eyes within the blink of an eye.

***

  After distributing all his stats, Harry's stats now looked like this:

===========

[Host Stats]

[Name: Harry Ainsworth]

[Race: Human]

[Class: Novice Manaless Mage]

[Level: 20]

[EXP: 38680/125000]

[H/P: 230/230]

[Energy: 340/340]

[Strength: 104]

[Agility: 103]

[Stamina: 102]

[Perception: 104]

[Endurance: 102]

[Intelligence: 100]

[Mental: 100]

[Charm: 95]

[Stat Points: 30]

===========

  Harry nodded his head in satisfaction, seeing as all his stats, except one, were now above hundred points.

  He only added five points each to both his perception and charm stat. The reason for the former was quite obvious, and it was because his [Perception] stat was already close to hundred, and he felt like adding ten points to it would be a waste.

  As for the latter, he didn't consider his [Charm] to be one of his useful stats, since all it did was make him more handsome and improve his overall appearance.

  Looking at his stats right now, a slight smile appeared on Harry's face and he couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment at how far his stats had come.

  'Now… I can be sure to stand my own against a stage three mana beast!' He thought, as he closed the [Host Stats] tab.

  Suddenly, a notification appeared in front of him, causing his eyes to widen in shock.

=====

[Requirement Fulfilled: 100 Perception Stat]

[New Skill Unlocked: Danger Sense]

  =====

  'Huh?! A new skill?!' Harry thought, his eyes still widened in shock.

  "To think there was a requirement like this…" Harry mumbled in surprise. Although he could already guessed the skill's description from the name alone, he still checked the description.

=====

[Danger sense (level 1): A passive skill that gives you the ability to sense danger a second before it happens.]

=====

  'A skill… and one this powerful…' Harry mumbled inwardly, placing a hand on his chin.

  He hadn't expected that there was actually a requirement like this to unlock a skill, and especially one as powerful as this.

  A skill that lets him sense danger just before it happens… while that may seem like a useless skill since it would notify him a second before the danger happens, it was sure to get more powerful as it levels up.

  And if the skill gets to a high level, he might practically be able to see a glimpse of the future with it! It was nothing short of amazing!

  Now he felt stupid for now adding stat points to [Perception] earlier on, in fact his former choice to increase his other skills first so they can all be "balanced" sounded stupid to him now.

  And that was because he could have fulfilled the requirement and gained the skill if he had just added one stat point to his [perception].

  However, if there was a requirement like this for his perception stat, didn't that mean all his other stats should also have similar requirements?

  Yet, he didn't unlocked any skill when they crossed a hundred points, neither did he get any notification.

  'I guess there's nothing to worry about… if there's really a requirement like this with the other stats, then I guess it's well above a hundred.' Harry thought.

  'Add six stat points to charm.' Harry ordered the system, curious to see if he would also unlock any passive or even active skill by increasing his charm stat to a hundred.

  But, despite losing six stat point and his charm reaching a hundred and one, he still didn't gain any skill, neither did he receive any notification. He let out a low sigh, feeling a little disappointed.

  It seemed like his theory was right… if there was a skill requirement like that with his other stats, the bar was definitely above a hundred points.

  However, he still felt very happy with the new skill he just gained.

  He looked back at the map once more, and a weird glint flashed through his eyes, when he noticed a zone that had a darker shade of red compared to the others.

  That meant there was a mana beast inhabiting that particular zone that was more powerful than the other stage three beasts in the forest.

  Despite getting a bit curious as to how high this particular mana beast's strength maybe, Harry ignored it for now, focusing on the others that contained only early stage three mana beasts.

  A few minutes later, Harry's brows furrowed slightly as he looked around at his surroundings.

  Though it took a few minutes, he had finally entered the zone that was said to contain stage three beasts.

  It didn't actually look that much different from the other zones where he had been, but one difference would be that the mana  in the air was a lot thicker than it was in the other zones.

  The trees were also a bit taller, and their branches were a lot more broader, blocking the light from the sun. Only a few rays were able to escape from in between their leaves, making it seem like it was evening.

  However, despite the darker surrounding, Harry was still able to see clearly, due to his high perception.

  Even though he tried his best to avoid fighting any more mana beast, he still met a few stage one and two beasts along the way, and they unsurprisingly attacked him.

  But he wasn't really complaining as they managed to bring him a whopping twenty-five thousand Exp, and he also managed to secure all their beast cores, which totaled up to five.

  The atmosphere was serene, and there were no mana beasts in sight, but nonetheless, Harry still fully kept his guard up.

  The thicker amount of mana he sensed in the air, reminded him constantly that he wasn't in a stage two zone anymore, and he knew better than to act carelessly.

Roarrr!!!

  A loud roar suddenly reverberated in his ears, and for a second, Harry felt like his body froze, before suddenly releasing.

  He wasn't even given enough time to understand what that weird sensation was, when he immediately felt a weird 'spark' in his head, and somehow, he instantly knew that he had to move away from his position.

  Instinctively, Harry followed this intuition, and hurriedly leapt backwards, dodging the large claw that came descending on the ground at that moment.

Bam!!

A loud sound sounded in the air, as the sheer force behind that hit caved in the ground, with cracks appearing on the surface.
