Chapter 1

Very surprised to see this one without any translated chapters, and since I’m enjoying the story, I decided to take it upon myself to do the hard work so the MTL doesn’t destroy my brain cells anymore! Yippie!!

Just like before, a google doc will be available for offline reading once all chapters are done. (Also I’m pretty sure no translated chapters were released……)

Being one of the best students of the Imperial Military Academy, Yan Junyu was sent to Neptune for a three-year internship.

Neptune was at least hundreds of millions of light-years away from the Imperial Star, and was located in the outermost part of the Black Eye Galaxy. It was a low-level star due to poor conditions and economy. However, because wild creatures were living there and their meat was an important strategic resource and indispensable food for special people, Neptune had become a supply station for the army and had attracted the attention of the Military Ministry.

After two and a half years as a specially-appointed instructor at the Neptune Military Academy, Yan Junyu would be able to return soon to the Imperial Star to apply for an internship, and then graduate successfully after passing the actual combat assessment. Finally, he’d join the mecha[1] advance unit, controlled by the Yan family, and become a full-fledged soldier.

The Neptune Military Academy was not that well known in the Black Eye Galaxy, and its students were generally not good enough, but there were also very few who displayed exceptional abilities and had a great deal of potential. Yan Junyu took advantage of his position to investigate the students. He found some really good youngsters to bring them back to the Imperial Star for cultivation. This action was not aimed at supporting close aids and building a team, but rather at caring for talent.

Right now, he was gathering all the students to the training ground, in order to lead them to the annual field training exercise in the Great Forest of Morona. Yan Bo, his teaching assistant, joked while looking at the timer, “Junyu, watch out for your admirer again, 170 meters to your left.”

Yan Junyu’s bewitching and cold face did not show a single expression.

“He’s about to cry!” Yan Bo grinned and raised his chin.

There were many airships parked in front of the training ground. A 17 year old boy was standing in front of one, staring at him. He had coiffed, dark hair, his skin was milky white and unblemished, with delicate and small features, yet his eyes were big and sprinkled with stars. When he fixed his gaze on the man, in his clear, black eyes a storm of emotions swirled fiercely.

When he realized Yan Bo was speaking about him, his cheeks reddened and his feet moved nervously. His small mouth was pressed tightly in a straight line and his hands were clasped together. He looked a little pitiful.

Yan Bo chuckled a couple of times and went on to say, “although Qi Ze is an atavistic carbon-based man, we certainly can’t deduce that from his appearance alone. He must be almost the same as our best silicon-based people. If his gene sequence doesn’t differ that much, he can be raised for fun with his looks…”

As he spoke, his face revealed a dreadful expression, causing Yan Junyu to frown.

Just then, a tall, alluring girl arrived and snorted, “Teaching Assistant, don’t impose your preferences on the instructor, will you? Qi Ze is a vulnerable carbon-based man. Even if he was a silicon-based person, he’s not worthy of the instructor. What else can he do when his only talent is being pretty? He’s always blushing and pretending to be pitiful, as if the entire world is bullying him.” Turning to Yan Junyu, she whispered, “instructor, don’t be fooled by him. While courting you, he hooked up with Ouyang Ye and ate and lived together. Now all the students know they have a thing for each other and are a couple. Ouyang Ye also posted a message on the school forum that Qi Ze is his and no one is allowed to make a move on him.”

Another student joined in the conversation, despite overhearing only the last words. He uttered with indignation, “yes, instructor. Although Qi Ze is looking like your normal, average person, in fact, he’s full of schemes. If he can’t hold onto your golden thigh[2], he goes to seduce Ouyang Ye. How else could a carbon-based man, with neither the mental strength nor the mental faculties, have remained in the military academy without being expelled? It’s Ouyang who’s covering for him. He has not only paid his tuition for the past two years and his living expenses, but he also bought for him a house and an airship. I simply cannot fathom how a carbon-based man could withstand Ouyang Ye’s demands.”

As soon as the student’s words were spoken, he quickly continued to say with a smile, “although Ouyang Ye has no powers, he’s physically strong and skilful… You should actually worry about him. I’ll write to him later and ask about his sexual life with Qi Ze…”

“Everyone has the right to choose how they live,” said Yan Junyu, whose face was just as apathetic as before, as the topic developed in the direction of pornography and violence, and more and more students came to gather and listen. “Instead of criticizing others here, think about your future career. Graduation is just around the corner. Is the Neptune Military Academy your destination or starting point? How many of you will choose the dangerous road of becoming a soldier?”

The crowd was speechless, anxiety gnawing at their hearts and clouding their thoughts. The Neptune Military Academy was not a well known educational institution, and the planet was, regrettably, a low-grade. There was no hope for their future if they chose to remain here, unless they could successfully enroll in an institution of higher education to continue studying, such as the Imperial Military Academy.

But the Imperial Military Academy had a high threshold, and even Ouyang Ye, the son of Ouyang Tao, the richest man on Neptune, had been rejected year after year; not to mention ordinary people. Yet, now they were presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be favored by strict instructors and specially recommended for admission.

Naturally, they would not do anything that could offend the instructor, thus keeping their mouth shut.

When the surroundings were hushed and everyone lined up quickly, Yan Junyu began to call the roll. The boy standing awkwardly nearby gazed without making a sound, but was ultimately dragged away by another tall boy. From time to time, he turned to glance back, as if he was hesitant to leave, which caused the tall boy to glare and lecture him.

Yan Junyu kept his firm stare away from the boy, from beginning until the end. The weight on his shoulders pushed him forward, with no time to waste on trifling matters such as romance. On the day of the boy’s heartfelt confession, he harshly turned him down, despite not wanting to appear cruel. Whether the other person would be hurt or chose the wrong path in life, it was not his problem.

Three days later, Yan Junyu stood in front of a broken mecha. For the first time, his face exhibited a puzzled look. He led a team of trainees to lurk in the dense forest, but somehow, he was aggressively attacked by a long-necked dragon. In order to protect the students, he ordered them to leave first, while he manipulated the mecha to lead the dragon somewhere else.

Although it was a herbivorous creature, measuring hundreds of meters in height and weighing more than hundreds of tons, it was also Neptune’s biggest predator and had few natural enemies, that is, as long as it survived until adulthood. Most of the time, they were docile, and rarely did they attack as wildly as they did now. Their thick armor was impenetrable and indestructible, a single sweep of their tail being able to destroy a warship. One had little chance of survival facing them head-on.

But their speed was limited by their sheer size, and Yan Junyu was 100% confident that he would survive if he didn’t fight back and simply fled.

Nevertheless, he never would’ve anticipated such an outcome ━ his mecha failed halfway. The moment the energy converter stopped working, he was swept away by the dragon, and then trampled under its feet after sliding hundreds of meters on the ground. Every inch of his body screamed in agony, feeling an intense ache in his muscles, bones and organs, as if they were squeezed together.

Yan Junyu quickly realized he was dead by staring at his palm, which was transparent under his eyes. Standing here was only his spirit, or, in older terms, his soul. As the most promising junior of the Yan family, his physical and mental abilities were all rare SSS levels.

There was a legend in the interstellar world, that when a person’s mental strength reached a certain limit, the spiritual body could withstand the test of time even if the body was long dead. No scientist could agree on a definite number; for some it could be a few months, for others only a few hours. However, in any case, no matter how strong one’s mental power could be, death was unavoidable in the end.

Yan Junyu trudged around the mecha several times, and watched with a solemn expression as bright red liquid flowed out of the flattened cockpit. He had a lot of responsibilities, great aspirations and ideals. Of course, it wasn’t his desire to be ionized and to dissipate into the illimitable universe.

But now, there was nothing to be done, but to face the harsh reality.

Why did the mecha suddenly fail? Was it planned by someone with ill intentions, or was it just a mechanical failure? Yan Junyu attempted to unscrew the cover of the energy tank, but his palm pierced the metal and felt the cool air. It seemed his spiritual body wasn’t capable of touching anything, and his suspicions would not be resolved until the rescue team arrived and brought the mecha’s armor back to the academy for inspection.

When would the rescue team arrive, though? Did the trainees return back safely? As soon as he pondered on these questions, Yan Junyu began to think of something else.

Just then, the sound of an engine came from a distance, and a few moments later, an airship landed noisily on the grass. The metal door opened slowly, leaving Yan Junyu astonished by the appearance of an unfamiliar face. He had never imagined, not in his wildest dreams, that the first to arrive at the scene would neither be his cousin Yan Bo, nor the search and rescue team. Rather, it was Qi Ze.

Why did he come? How dare he come? Why didn’t Ouyang Ye stop him? He was a carbon-based man, and any creature in the Great Forest of Morona was a mortal threat to him.

Yan Junyu, frowning, hurried over to Qi Ze and ordered, “go back. You shouldn’t have come here!”

The boy, however, could not hear his voice. He pursed his lips and ran to the mecha, trying to free the trapped man by moving a pile of metal. Soon, the formidable young master of the Ouyang family rushed down the airship with tools to remove the fuselage, followed by several tall bodyguards, carrying all kinds of tools. They had come to save him, and they were more efficient than the search and rescue team, which surprised Yan Junyu.

He walked up to the boy and looked at his injured fingers from the wreckage of his armor, his mood very complicated.
