Chapter 47 - Pastries taste good when comes from your mouth

Pink Villa

That evening

Alice was quite tired when she returned to her Villa. So, she just drifted off to sleep after she cleaned herself up. Then, she had a quite strange dream.

"Alice", she heard a woman call her gently. The surrounding was bathed with warm light & the giant piano could be seen not too far.

"Alice, trust me!", the woman had tears trickling down her face, "What that woman told you that night was completely false."

"I'm your Mom. Look, here", the woman lifted her frayed hair from her forehead & her birthmark was exposed, "You, too, have the same birthmark as me, right?"

"She, indeed, killed your Dad & forced me to stay apart from all these years."

...

Daniel knew that Alice must be tired because when he reached the Villa, it was completely still & silent. But, still, he wanted to surprise her with a romantic candlelit dinner. So, he himself went to cook her favorite dishes. After all...

...

Alice woke up with a jump after the dream. She got down from the bed & rushed towards the mirror. She parted her dark bangs & took a look at her birthmark on her forehead. It was indeed very similar. But, why did she have such a strange dream? She rubbed her forehead in frustration & made her way to the washroom. She washed her face several times to clear her head.

When she came out, her eyes fell on the silver packaging with a handwritten note on it. She picked it up. It said,

"Wear the dress & come down quickly. I'll be waiting. Don't forget to run your hands down the railing while you come down the stairs."

Alice smiled before she tore out the packaging. Inside it was a beautiful gown with printed hearts on it. The light violet color reminded her of the evening sky.

She quickly changed into the dress. It revealed her perfect collar bones & slender shoulders. She twirled around in her dress & it made a perfect circle. Alice opened her door, but the floor was silent & gloomy. She frowned & slowly climbed down the stairs to avoid tripping upon her dress. Her slender fingers slid down the railing slowly when she encountered a coiled object. As soon as her fingers brushed against it, the coiled object unwrapped itself & rose petals rained down slowly above her head. She looked up & a broad smile enveloped her face.

Just then, a paper plane flew across her face & landed on the stairs. She moved down towards it a picked it up. It said,

"Come out to the balcony."

She clutched the paper & finally ended her journey of steps. When her feet landed on the floor, a few fairy lights lit up above her head. She took another step, a few more lit up. After taking a few more steps towards the balcony, the ceiling of the living room lit up into some letters.

It said,

I LOVE YOU, ALICE!

Alice's heart was fluttering in a frenzy. She immediately took off towards the balcony.

Meanwhile in the city

After days of staying in bed, Jake finally took Eddie out to repay the lost date that day. They both held their hands while walking on the busy streets. They went to the same cafe to pick up where they left that night. After settling down at their usual table, Eddie began speaking of her happiness.

"You know Jake? I'm really, really happy. My life seems perfect at this moment."

Jake looked at the girl opposite him tenderly. Indeed, he wanted to gift the whole universe to this very girl. Earlier, he was foolish enough to waste his youth on Rose.

Soon, the waiter came & served them their pastries. The girl was so delighted that she immediately dug in. Jake noticed the girl closely. It was so easy to please her. She never complained or w.h.i.n.ed once all these days. She was never the one to cling onto him or make him ditch his other responsibilities.

Although no one should disrespect a deceased, Jake felt his blood boil whenever he remembered Rose. She used to cling onto him whenever he was needed to do an important task. In short, Rose exploited his family's power, his love, his friendship. But, Eddie. She was completely the opposite. She had a personality that would make boys feel protective of her. But she always had an inner strength. It's true that she was really popular during her school & college like her brother. But she rejected every boy that came her way & firmly stood beside Jake. Although back then, he considered her as his best friend.

Suddenly, the girl looked up & was greeted by his warm eyes. She furrowed her brows, "What is it? Is something the matter?"

Jake stood up from his seat, "Eddie..."

The next thing Eddie knew was that the boy came up to her & kissed her suddenly. His tongue was devouring her mouth. Passionate fires were welling up.

"Mmm", Eddie pushed him away, "You've not touched your pastry yet. Why are you eating mine?"

She glared at him while Jack smacked his lips seductively, "Pastries taste good when comes from your mouth."

"You...", Eddie glared with a frown.
