"So what, I gave birth to her? She was just an accident."

Those words strike Alice hard. Her mother also abandoned her after she's born. Could it be? She pushed away those weird thoughts & looked at Daniel who had a critical expression right now.

"Dan..."

"Hmm? Are you tired?", he was worried her head would hurt for staying up too long.

"Umm."

"Then, let's go", he supported her & walked towards the stairs.

They slowly ascended the stairs & parted their ways when they reached her room. He pulled her in & gently kissed on her forehead, "Good Night."

"Umm."

Only God knew whether she would have a good night or not.

...

The next morning

Alice woke up when the sudden sunshine evaded her eyes. She sat up & saw Eddie dressed up & opening the curtains. Alice scratched her head in confusion, "So early? Are you leaving for some fashion week?"

"Early? Look at your watch."

Her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. 1 PM! Are you kidding me?

"Alright", she was overcome with awkwardness, "Who pushed the fast forward button on my weekends?"

Eddie resisted her urge to laugh, instead, she patted her head, "Bye!"

"See ya!",Alice responded lazily.

As soon as Eddie disappeared, Daniel jolted into the room, "Good morning, Darling!"

"Good morning", she lazily succ.u.mbed to his hug.

"How was your sleep? Don't have work?",she nudged him.

"You're my work."

"Hmm."

Southern Avenue

Since Jake was not present, Eddie decided to roam about in the streets for inspiration. She drove about the streets aimlessly, looking for some inspiration for her designs. After a few hours, she finally felt the urge to eat something.

She parked herself next to a cafe & grabbed a burger & coffee.

30 minutes later

She slipped out of the cafe & someone on the opposite side of the road caught her attention! Surprisingly, she saw Jake wearing a black tuxedo; more like a groom. But, wait! A girl in a wedding gown had her arm hooked around his. Was she seeing things? She shook her head but the same thing was happening before her eyes. Then, she saw them enter the Civil Bureau Office. Are they here for registration?

Eddie was stunned & her face was streaked with tears. He suddenly disappeared from her sight, only to find him getting married to someone else. His face was handsome but emotionless.

Without much thought, Eddie ran through the middle of the street, just in front of a car!

SCREECH!!

...

Jake slightly turned his head when he saw the commotion outside the Civil Bureau Office. His new bride was beside him but his mind was elsewhere. To distract himself, he went out to check the commotion. He heard people talking.

"This girl suddenly ran into the street."

"She might be mad."

...

Jake made his way to the crowd. He broke through the crowd & what he saw next, was enough to stop his heart. There was a large pool of blood. And in the middle, was lying Eddie. Without wasting time, he crouched down beside her, "Ed, Open your eyes!"

"Please look at me!"

The bodyguards who followed behind him immediately arranged for the ambulance. Jake left with Eddie in his arms.

The new bride was kept waiting in the Civil Bureau Office. No one informed her where her husband was.

Civil Hospital

Eddie was wheeled to the operation theatre as soon as they reached the hospital. Jake paced back & forth across the passage.

Suddenly, he heard a voice say, "Have you informed her brother?"

Jake turned his head to see Olivia, his so-called new bride, standing there, "I know I'd promised I won't interfere in your life. But her brother needs to know."

Jake nodded & turned to make a call.

Daniel was dressing her wound when they were interrupted by a phone call. He asked her to pick it up for him & put it in the loudspeaker.

"Hello? Daniel? It's me!",came a voice.

"Yeah, Jake! Where are you?"

"Eddie...", Jake hesitated.

"Eddie? What happened to her?",Daniel, as well as Alice, grew tensed.

"She met with an accident."

"What?",both of them jumped up from the sofa.

"We're in the hospital. Come quickly!"

"Yeah!"

Daniel & Alice hurriedly put on their clothes & rushed to the hospital.

Inside a car, Somewhere in the city

"Have you paid the driver yet?",Olivia's perfectly manicured nails rhythmically tapped on the leather seat, as she spoke on the phone, "Make sure he keeps his mouth shut."

Then, she hung up the phone & an evil smirk broke into her face while she played with a curl of her hair. A slideshow of some photos was displayed on the laptop, showing a girl, "Sorry, Eddie! Yours truly was already mine. So, go to die! His Grandpa was just a pawn in the game. After all, everything is fair in love & war."

"How did this happen?",Daniel rubbed his temples in frustration.

"I don't know. I just saw the commotion when I was in the Civil Bureau Office."

"Civil Bureau Office?",A masked Alice raised her head.

"That...", Jake just did a mistake.

"What were you doing there? And why are you in a rare tuxedo?",Daniel questioned.

"Where were you these days?",Alice queried.

Just then, the lights of the Operation Theater switched off, & the head doctor walked out from the room.

Daniel rushed to him, "How is my sister?"

The others also surrounded him.

"The patient is out of danger, but...", the doctor hesitated.

Alice looked at Daniel's tensed face, so she asked, "But?"

"I'm afraid, she may slip into a coma."
