Chapter 36: Guru

While washing the cup in the kitchen, Assistant Liu realized that it was different from before. Not only was there an opened pack of noodles, there were many new utensils. The stove had also been used—it was obvious that some cooking was done. He felt very strange—how could Luo Yichen have cooked noodles?

Distracted by Assistant Liu’s words, Luo Yichen lost the game. He shot daggers at Assistant Liu.

Assistant Liu was aghast and immediately wanted to run back to the kitchen instantly.

Bai Lang smiled at Luo Yichen and asked, “Tell me, is there someone else in the house?”

Luo Yichen raised his eyebrows and remained silent. Of course, he could not say that there was really a girl in the house.

Bai Lang said, “Yichen, you’re different from those traffic stars1. They rely on their looks and commercial activities—to drive exposure—and maintain their popularity. You rely on your ability. But that’s also why a scandal will easily ruin you. Do you understand? You’re still young and can have your choice of girls. Don’t do anything that you’ll regret in the future. It’s better for both of you if you end it early.”

Luo Yichen looked at Bai Lang indifferently and said faintly, “You have such a rich imagination. Why don’t you become a screenwriter?”

Bai Lang: “…”

Luo Yichen leaned against the sofa and said nonchalantly, “It’s not what you think.” Even if he did have some feelings for the lass, he would not act on it now.

He did not bother to explain and said, “I just want to rest. Can’t you guys leave me alone?”

Bai Lang said helplessly, “Alright, we’ll be leaving now. Rest well at home. We came here today to let you know about tomorrow’s schedule. If there’s nothing else, we’ll call it a day then.”

He had wanted to come and find out what was up with Luo Yichen recently. Since he was unwilling to tell, he did not want to force him. He glanced at the study with the closed door. The study door had been closed in the last few times he was here.

He stood up—tidied his clothes—and asked casually, “You used to leave the study door open. Why did you close it?”

Luo Yichen was playing games. Without even looking up, he said, “I bought some souvenirs and didn’t want to be nagged by you guys.”

Bai Lang: “…” He was speechless.

Bai Lang’s gaze landed on the gifts on the floor of the hallway. “Why didn’t you bring these things in? Did you buy them?”

Luo Yichen could not take it anymore. He looked at Bai Lang and said, “Why don’t you open them and take a look? Aunt Yuhong bought them—she came in the afternoon. If you don’t believe me, you can go and confirm it with her!”

Bai Lang waved his hand and said, “No need. I’m just curious, that’s all. Alright, you rest then. We’re leaving.”

He was relieved at hearing Luo Yichen’s reply. Knowing that He Yuhong had been here, the fact that the kitchen had been used was not strange then—Luo Yichen’s personality was just too aloof and unwilling to communicate.

Assistant Liu had just returned with a cup of water when he heard Bai Lang say that he wanted to leave. He put down the cup and hurriedly followed Bai Lang. So, why on earth did they go to Luo Yichen’s house? They left without even having a sip of water.

Meanwhile, after Qu Ling’er left the house, she went to the bank and applied for a few bank cards. Then, she asked Xia Tian out for shopping. Xia Tian met two other classmates—Jiang Wei and Li Meng—at the mall. The two of them asked to shop with them—she could not reject—so, she brought them along to meet Qu Ling’er.

Qu Ling’er did not mind since they were classmates. Although they had not interacted much before, there were no ill feelings either.

When Qu Ling’er arrived at the entrance of the mall, she saw the three of them waiting for her. She quickly walked over and greeted them, “Sorry, I’m late.”

“You’re not late.” Xia TIan held Qu Ling’er’s arm and said, “We are meeting at 2.30 pm. It’s only 2.15 pm now. Let’s go in. It’s too hot outside.”

They walked abreast into the mall.

Li Meng asked curiously, “Qu Ling’er, I heard that you were accepted to Beijing University?”

Qu Ling’er kept a low profile during her three years of high school and her examination results had been above average. How did she suddenly get accepted to Beijing University? In addition, if someone else had been accepted to Beijing University, they would have made a big fuss about it. But Qu Ling’er did not say a word. Even the teachers did not mention her results.

Hearing Li Meng’s words, Qu Ling’er nodded and said, “Yes, I’ll be studying at Beijing University soon.”

Li Meng was envious. “You’re really amazing. You and Guru Xiu are the only ones in our class to get accepted to Beijing University.”

Xia Tian said, “Yu Xiu’s score isn’t as high as Ling’er’s. Ling’er is the real guru!”
