Loving A Triple Threat

Chapter 37 - The Café six

"How dare he keep me waiting!" Suzie proclaimed loudly.

Gi looked up from her phone. Ren was running ten minutes late as well. She looked around in the café, it was a Sunday and busy. They had taken the large table that could hold ten people for their group of six. It looked quite empty with the three girls sitting alone.

A group of boys eyed them, and when Gi made eye contact, most of them smiled. She didn't know if they found her good looking or remembered her from Joon's party photo. Thankfully YG was moderating all her accounts now. She wouldn't even upload; they looked at the cloud storage and picked videos or images to upload. Ones which fit their image for her.

"We should order some food," Gi looked at their lonely glasses of water. Cafés' hated customers taking up space and not placing orders for items which cost actual money. Water was free unless they ordered sparkling.

Misha waved down a waitress, "Yes, this is embarrassing."

"Pfft," Suzie said, "you two are always worried about what others think." Suzie's face suddenly lit up like she received a bright idea from the gods. She smiled wickedly as she leaned towards Gi and in her sultry tone she asked, "So, how was the after, after party?"

Gi had no idea what she meant while her face communicated her ignorance.

Misha giggled.

Gi looked at Misha and racked her brain trying to comprehend what Suzie was talking about. Only when Suzie put a spoon in her mouth and moved it in and out quickly did she know what she meant.

"Suzie!" Gi exclaimed while blushing. She then tried to pull the spoon out of Suzie's mouth.

Suzie pulled away, "Spill." She ordered, "Did you lose your vir – gin – nity?"

Gi shook her head, "Not that its any of your business."

Suzie opened her mouth in astonishment and then asked, "How long have you been dating? Like two months now?"

"No, six weeks," Gi informed her rival who was jeopardising their friendly terms.

Suzie informed them both knowingly, "Most guys don't wait past four weeks."

"Gi is very pretty. Guys should wait as long as she wants them to," Misha corrected.

Gi slid her arms across the table, attempting to sound calm, "Can we stop talking about my – you know - Hyuk and Seok are here."

Misha turned and exclaimed, "Seok!" She stood and gave him a hug.

Suzie turned her back on Hyuk.

"Suzie? Hi," Hyuk said.

"You're late," Suzie stated seriously before she turned to glare at him. "I don't allow my boyfriends to be late!"

Hyuk grinned like the cat who caught a mouse. "Boyfriend?"

Suzie continued to glare, "I'm not sure. Maybe I'll change my mind if you're ever late again."

Hyuk gave Suzie an ecstatic hug and kiss on the cheek. His adoration melted her. "Holiday boyfriend," she clarified.

"Fine, Suzie, whatever you say," Hyuk replied.

Misha stared at Gi and when they locked eyes she mouthed, 'Wow. Impressed.'

Gi nodded, the way Suzie handled boys was impressive. She always seemed to be in charge even when she was being extremely immoral.

The four chatted while Gi felt like a fifth wheel. Hyuk was a good-looking athlete, while Seok was extremely smart, and she liked them both. They were pretty good for boys and she was happy to have them as friends.

Thinking of the pair made her think of Sena. The troubled boy who had a heart of gold.

"What's Sena doing these days?" Gi asked much to their surprise.

"Ah," Hyuk stammered, "the usual. You know."

Gi shook her head, she had no idea what the usual was.

"He dropped out of school," Seok said.

Gi sighed, "Yeah, I knew that. Sad."

"You don't text him anymore?" Hyuk asked.

Suzie laughed.

Gi glared at Suzie, it was obvious she was thinking that Gi would never date one boy and text another. While Suzie wouldn't have such an issue and would look down on Gi for being, so, prim and proper.

"Sena has his own business now," Seok offered the information trying to satisfy Gi's curiosity and concern for Sena.

"Oh, wow – what sort of business?" Gi asked and Seok realised his mistake too late.

"Fast speed deliveries and city guide," Hyuk offered the same line that Sena fed him a week ago.

"There's a business in that?" Gi asked. She sounded genuinely curious.

"A business in what?" Ren asked from behind Gi.

Everyone was quiet as if a cone of silence descended onto the group.

"What?" Ren asked.

Gi sighed, showing her distaste for duplicity, "We were discussing Seok and Hyuk's friend Sena. He has a business."

Ren scratched his head and peered at the pair. "He's not from Daeil is he?"

Hyuk answered, "Nope."

"So? Who's this Sena guy?" Ren asked while taking a seat next to Gi.

Suzie burst out laughing. She hit the table with her hand she found the question so funny.

Ren looked at Gi's friend.

"O - k - ay," he said thinking he was the b.u.t.t of some joke.

Gi sighed again, "I went on a date with him. Back in February."

"Ah," Ren said nodding slowly. "So – he was the competition?"

Seok couldn't help himself, "No." He said fiercely, "He stopped talking to Gi because he didn't think he was good enough for her. But – anyone who knows Sena, the real Sena, knows he's the best."

"Is he that tall handsome guy that brought us to your table that time and then left?" Suzie asked curiously. Forgotten was her mirth at Gi's expense. She wanted to know.

"Yes," Hyuk said enthusiastically. It appeared that Suzie's compliments towards Sena didn't affect him in the slightest.

"Well," Ren said smiling and peering at Gi, "do I have a rival?"

Gi smiled weakly and shook her head, "Seok was correct, we just stopped talking. I haven't seen him since February."

Gi was being honest, but Ren wasn't pleased with the answer he looked hurt by it.

He asked Hyuk with his kindest tone, "Do you have a photo of this tall, handsome man?"

Hyuk looked at Seok, who shrugged, and then selected an image and offered Ren his phone, "It's an old photo, last year," he said.

Ren peered at the photo, trying to measure his rival before recognition finally appeared on his face. His mouth opened and hung open.

"I – know – this guy," he said in disbelief.

He turned on Hyuk, "Does he have a disabled little brother or cousin or something?"

The dumbfounded look on Hyuk's face answered his question.

Ren stiffened and sat in silence while the others ordered.

"Ren," Gi said softly touching his hair, "don't be like this. I meant nothing by it. He's not in my life anymore."

Ren turned to look at Gi, there was pain in his eyes, "I'm not so sure he knows that."

"Ren," she said with concern, "I've never lied to you."

He signed and touched her cheek tenderly, "I know. I know. I'm sorry. It's not your fault."

"If you guy's need a room there's an hourly-rate-hotel not far from here," Suzie offered some free advice.

Hyuk exclaimed in surprise, "How do you even know that?"

Suzie chuckled and showed him her phone. She had just looked it up for her barb. They both laughed together.

"Do they give a discount for a double booking?" Misha asked Suzie, and then everyone was laughing.

It was the holiday break between terms and while Gi and her friends still trained it was half the work rate of a normal school week.

Ren whispered in Gi's ear, "We should do something, just the two of us."

Gi smiled shyly.
